Starz Greenlights NOIR, Sam Raimi’s Live-Action Female Assassin Thriller, To Series!!
Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, two of the fellows behind “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” have received a greenlight for “Noir,” a live-action adaptation of the 2001 anime series about a pair of rival female assassins who team to take on a secret society to learn more about their own mysterious origins.
The presumptive showrunner is writer-producer Steven Lightfoot (“Camelot”).

female spies, are there ever really good spy shows? how do you not get sick of chuck and burn notice after a couple seasons, its just the same crap over and over.
-
Not really sure what this will bring to the table, except for the added swearing and blood. Could end up another Camelot - good but not really wanted.
-
Female assassin? Equals fucking PLAYED OUT. It almost makes one long for the helpless female or damsel in distress. What the fuck happened to her? Did she grow a cock?
-
An American LA BLUE GIRL on premium cable!? GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS.
-
And therefore could make this series really fun to watch. Unlike the garbage network shows that go nowhere storywise and have terrible action sequences and no TITS. TITS OR GTFO!
-
it sucked. so ill pass on this

and by the time it hit the season finale it was fuckin amazing. Once you get past the opening episode that was much like a boring origin story, and get Spartacus with the gladiators fighting his way up, its really awesome stuff. And the final episode was the best episode of any show on TV in 2010. The first episode was just one of the worst.
-
The anime was really pretty good and the 2 main female characters were decent. If done right this can be a good series.
-
Exactly right.

Loved the prequel second season, which was really clever in being a prequel but also introducing a compelling new character to root for and with whom the outcome wasn't already a given like the others, and being a prequel that not only played into the first season but sets things up for the third season as well. Being someone who is very anti-prequel, I was very surprised at how effective and smartly structured it ended up being. That's all a long preamble to saying their work on that show piques my interest in any other shows they might have up their sleeves. Though Camelot was merely serviceable (and pales in comparison to the absolutely fantastic Game of Thrones), and is not a show I'll probably revisit next season or recommend to others.
-
It's like the perfect fusion of Alias and 24, with hot chicks, cool action and an overarching plot that isn't overly convoluted for it's own sake. I'm glad it got picked up for another season.
-
I really liked Camelot. There were 2 things I didn't like about it tho: 1. Not Enough Magic. I know they are on a budget but would it kill them to have Merlin use magic once in a while? 2. Didn't like the fact Arthur and Gwen were in a triangle with the King's Champion. Made the 2 of them douchebags for fucking over a good man. The King was a douche for banging his best friend's woman and she was a slut for doing it. We all know the guy was gonna die sooner or later but was still a crappy thing for them to do to him.
-
Is probably one of my favorite anime series. I'll hold off making any opinions on this until I see some footage.
-
by the end of the season it was pure greatness. The only thing that bothered me was the dude with the thick scottish accent. Lucy Lawless was probably the best she's ever been. I'll watch Gods of the Arena when its on netflix.
-
was the predominantly British accents. Shouldn't they have had Italian accents?
-
Also, not once did someone say "forgetaboutit".
-
British accents sound more menacing.
-
Which is why their accents are perfect for bad guys. And Lucy Lawless was yummy on Spartacus. But this sounds retarded.
-
A remake of a remake of a remake. How awful is that?
-
... is enormous. I dread this.
-
It's a very good show, as well.

I have never seen any of the previous iterations of Nikita (Point Of No Return excepted)...

...so the new series is pretty much new to me. And you don't need to have seen the original Luc Besson film or the previous TV series to enjoy this one.
-
This came out of nowhere.
-
You missed out, Starz just pulled ALL their content off of netflix streaming this week. Gods of the Arena had been on netflix for months!
-
Their accents would be better.
-
was a pretty groundbreaking show 10 years ago. Epic soundtrack too, I hope they keep it (or at least make reference to it).
-
There was a show set in London , with some utterly retarded bits set in outside of Camden Tube station, which was so obviously not London ,but Canada or wherever .It got a bit boring toward the end of the season too.
-
I'm loving Camelot, Spartacus is spectacular, Pillars of the Earth was satisfying and Torchwood looks like it's going to be pretty good too.
