New MUPPETS Parody Trailer! "Being Green!"

Published at:  Jun 16, 2011 11:13:43 AM CDT

Nordling here.

Hi ho! Kermit the Frog here!  I sure hope you enjoy this “Being Green” trailer…and our other parody trailers—“Green With Envy” “Fuzzy Pack”.  Now,  after much ado—and Miss Piggy’s insistence that she get final cut—we’re finally ready for the world premiere of the official trailer for our upcoming movie, “The Muppets”.  You can watch it everywhere on Monday June 20th at 8am Pacific Time.  Be sure not to miss it!
 – Amphibiously yours,  Kermit The Frog

And with that...

Not much to say for me.  Simply wonderful.  Hell, that was better than the movie they were parodying!  Nordling, out!

Is Harry hiding his disappointment of "Green Lantern"?

    by the reluctant austinite

Not a peep from him here or on Twitter except for a tweet saying he was nervous about seeing it a couple of days ago. I can't believe how universally bad the reviews have been. I really didn't expect the reviews to be THIS bad based on just seeing the trailers. I either expected Harry to buck the trend by LOVING "Green Lantern" and going completely against the grain or just not saying anything at all if he hated it. He's been wearing the ring for months and probably doesn't want to upset those he has become friendly with during the film's promotion.

So one of two things are going to happen. He'll chew on the good and bad of the film and ultimately post a belated review this weekend defending the good stuff while admiting some of the bad stuff OR he'll never say anything, which is bascially a terrible review just by his silence.

  • The Hate Orgy is fully inflamed here in Ginger-Town, but I still expect Big Red to pull through with a massively hedged "good" review.

The movie has its flaws, sure, but it's a good fucking time. Let's see if Harold cops to the flaws in a forthright manner. Then his review will sound authentic.

Still, it's a good time at the movies. Harden the fuck up, hit that bowl and head to a matinee when you get a chance.

...is kind of weak, just like this trailer. Calling it a "parody" when it's really exploitation is also weak.

Meh. The Muppets seem pretty impressed with their own cleverness. Good for them, I guess. Did they have to use this approach to interest people in the original "Muppet Movie"? Probably not. They were way popular back then in their own right.

Choppah, I'm resigned to see "Green Lantern" no matter what the critics say.

    by the reluctant austinite

Thanks for your input, however. For months I was kind of uninterested in "Green Lantern", but the recent, spacey, "Star Wars" meets "Superman" trailers got my attention, and comic book movies SHOULD be fun (sometimes even silly).

Harry's silence, however, seems to speak volumes. This wouldn't be the first time, however, that he has taken a few days to let the movie play out in his brain (because he initially, probably didn't care much for it) only to suddenly release a review mostly praising the postive aspects of a film and retroactively defending what others have disliked.

    Reply to Talkback

  • 'Boy did you open yourself up to THAT one, goldentribe' -- what?? What on earth are you talking about?

A largely unfunny muppet spoof is miles better than the original Green Lanturd, that's all anybody's saying. It was painfully obvious from the very first images and teasers that the entire GL movie was a misguided pile of shit. But you have to go and accuse this utterly innocuous send-up of being 'exploitative' like some kind of complete idiot who has no business conversing with anyone outside of a padded kiddie room. You specifically wrote that this is NOT a parody, it's 'really exploitation.' To sincerely believe that by anything about this trailer constitutes exploitation in any way requires record-breaking stupidity.

I'm not a 'rabid fanbody' of anything, I just call them as I see them. I have nothing against (or for) Ryan Reynolds, for instance -- unlike a lot of others around here -- and I couldn't give a shit less if a property comes from Marvel or DC or somewhere else. I similarly couldn't care less about the muppets in general, and I have no idea why you're talking about ponies.....

What is clear is that you'd need a massive amount of rounding up just to be called a half-wit based on every painfully stupid word you've typed into this talkback so far.

The price is ridiculous and the glasses give me a headache. I did see How To Train Your Dragon in 3D, and it was GOOD 3D, but I've seen the movie since in 2D and it was the STORY that mattered.
