Catherine Zeta Jones as WONDER WOMAN'!'!
Well... Lookee here. Catherine Zeta Jones as WONDER WOMAN. I'm sure this'll get some people talking. Personally, after the ASS-film she made (Entrapment - reason for calling it ASS-film is that's what the trailer sold) We know she can fill spandex nicely. As for having Catherine Zeta Jones tying up folks with a magic lasso and forcing them to tell the truth.... heh... I wonder if that's how she got that Mike Douglas dude to give her that rock. As for her acting talent.... Ummm and you're saying that Cathy Lee Crosby or Linda Carter were.... ummm.... great actresses. She's an amazon. She needs a troubled look, a serious look and a killer smile. And a scantly clad costume with stars on her ass. Oh yeah baby.
Dirtfish here,
I was listening to the radio at work here in the UK
and the news came on with a story that Catherine Zeta
Jones has been chosen by Warner Brothers executives to
play WonderWoman in a big screen version of the hit
70's comic caper. Personnally I don't rate Zeta Jones
as an actress (she couldn't act hurt if she was hit by
a car) but if the right director is assigned then it
may just work and even if it doesn't any chance to see
Cath Jones dressed as WonderWoman is worth the
admission fee alone.

will she arch her way under a laser beam like in entrapment? If not, forget the whole thing.
-
...she's perfect..I hope Jon Peters keeps his grubby little paws out of this one.
-
She would look great in the outfit, and I don't think it takes an Oscar winner to play a super hero. You go to those kinds of films for the fun factor, and as long as they don't cheese it up, it could be cool. I can't think of anyone else who fits that role visually as good as she does.
-
I never thought the story was very interesting. It was ok as camp, but that's been done. Wonder Woman is not even in my to 50 interesting comic characters - I rather see She-Hulk the movie than WW. As for a long opportunity to look CZJ scantily clad, that's what the internet's for - use the dollars to make something more interesting please... Besides, her next movie will afford that opportunity anyway, whatever it is.
-
Zeta-Jones would be nice, but Lucy Lawless IS Wonder Woman!!! or how about Julie Strain???
-
And is lacking in certain other, uh, assets, as well. Besides, this is an ancient rumor that's been floating around the net forever. Surely Warner Bros. isn't stupid enough to cast such an overpriced, vacant pseudo-star in a project they don't even have a script for. Or is this just another desperate attempt of Lorenzo's to keep his job? Sad. Just sad.
-
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TOMB RAIDER MOVIE?. SHE COULD DO THAT IF WONDER WOMAN FELL THROUGH.
SHE'S GOT THE EYEBROWS FOR IT. -
This is absoulutely perfect. Who else could you ever imagine being Wonder Woman. She is tall and originally brunette. SHE IS THE ONLY WONDER WOMAN. A PERFECT CASTING CHOICE IF THERE EVER WAS ONE.
-
Can't act? She cant act, you say? Of course she can NOT act, but what the hell does THAT have to do with the price of ass in tinsle-town! Okey-dokey then, lets get some fish-face, boney-ass, boob-droop'n skank that can do shakespeare...that'll get people to see it.
-
More important than casting is who's producing. Is that bastard Jon Peters still attached to this vaporware project? I guess he got tired of sinking tens of millions of Warners' dough into that non-existent Superman film. If so then this is going to be a pile of stinking shit... though I'd bet money it never makes it out of the gate. Get a clue, Warners! Peters is a LOSER!
-
i never liked wonder woman... the idea was always lame to me. lasso of truth? i always did like the invisible jet. i think it would be cool if they made the movie and during it you'd see zeta jones body flying around in the sitting position. i'm already laughing at the 1 1/2 star rating. this would be fun bad.

I thought they were gettin Sandra Bullock to play Wonder Woman!?
by eric draven
Personally, i think Zeta-Jones is perfect for the role. But i had heard that Sandra Bullock was in the lead for the role, ans was, in fact...almost signed.
Oh well, whatever...the only reason this movie will make money is cause of Zeta-Jones in a scantily clad costume. After all, Wonder Woman is kind of a stupid character.....and for the love of god, the "truth-lasso"?...what a dumb weapon....whats gonna happen...she'll lasso a dude, pull him in and hell say ".......nice tits"! -
speaking of superheroes, it there any truth to this?
it was posted on an earlier forum:
Word is that there are some development hold-ups with the updated version of the seminal martial arts classic, Hong Kong Fooey. After a bitter dispute with Dudley Do-Right director, Hugh Wilson, the director's chair has been offered to Evil Dead-head Sam Raimi. But after a lackluster script and multiple rewrites, the gritty Kung Fu adventure is mired in development hell. "I want to do this as long as we are faithful to the source," commented Raimi, "If we do this, it's going to be a serious film. I'm not one to put out some cornball send-up of the original. At the very core, this is a movie about a down-and-out janitor dog who is also a number-one-superguy! I don't want to put out some schlocky retread. I mean, this isn't freakin' Grape Ape we're talking about!" In an effort to remain true to his source material, Raimi promises that the film will feature the original score from the television program.

Wait a minute...the perfect casting choice should be Charisma Ca
by eric draven
You know...Cordellia on Angel (and formerly on Buffy).
She could more than "fill out" the role....plus, she is probably the hottest woman on Earth right now. Tell me I'm wrong...she would be perfect for the role, ......ok....real good then. -

What about Ed Norton as Wonder Woman and David Fincher directing
by superman#1
Or maybe Bruce Campbell as Wonder Woman, I don't know make up your minds and get back to me on it!
-
I've never actually seen a Catherine Zeta-Jones movie, so I don't know about her acting, but I can't help but think she'd be more suited to play Wonder Woman than Sandra Bullock. Ms. Bullock is a fine actress but is too all-American, cool girl next door. She'd be better for Lara Croft. While we're at it, here's how any Hollywood dinks should cast superhero movies:
Wonder Woman: exotic royalty type.
Batman:Scary, intense, smart, weird enough to dress up like a bat.
Superman:A traditional, square jawed hero with the sensitivity to play Clark Kent.
Spiderman:Looks young and wimpy; too brainy for his own good but with a buried edge that comes out when the costume goes on.
The Hulk: Bruce Banner should be a physical wuss but should be too brilliant to have a weak personality.
The Fantastic Four: obsessed scientist approaching middle age;
classy society beauty; tough (but not dumb)test pilot; late adolescent car crazy hothead.
Okay, start casting! -
This Catherine Zeta-Jones thing is not true.
Snadra Bullock IS attached to the film (although no contracts have been signed) and the film is going to be done in a much, much different way than the comic book.
If any of you are familiar with the original Wonder Woman movie starring Cathy Lee Crosby or the point in the comic's mythology where Wonder Woman lost her powers and became regular old Diana Prince (martial arts expert), you can use that as a reference as to the direction that the film's headed in. There will be no costume, aside from some Emma Peel-esque action outfits. -
At least we won't have to listen to that crappy 70's theme song... right? RIGHT?! Please, for the love of Hera! Anything but THAT! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NOOOOO!!!!Otherwise, she's a babe. Get her fitted and start shooting. (Still, that Lara Croft thing...)
-
When I heard this, I immediatly thought of comedian Dave Chappelle's little routine on comic books. "..Look at the weapons they give her. A lasso of truth. What's that supposed to do?-'Gotcha' 'Damn, you got some big breasts. I wasn't going to say it before, but this lasso seemed to suck the truth right out of me'".
-
This will Bomb!
There's no reason to make these remake, unoriginal things! -
I THINK THEY LOOK ALIKE, dont you, cant you see the similaritiese at all? not that much, but i think she'll be perfect, they have the same eyes too
-
when i saw the news that CZJ was to be wonder woman, i have to be honest, and say that my first thought, or physiological rxn was, (nearly) a big fat one!
Anyway, so i came on to read the posts, and ignoring the ones from the comic book geek boys, there seems to be quite a few that say she can't act.
Well, i dunno about that, i've been watching her since she became famous in the darling buds of may, and she was pretty good in that, then there was that columbus thing, which i didnt see.
She was in a v cool movie about surfing, something with blue in the title, i think, oh yeah, blue juice.
not sure what she did next, but she was alright in zorro, entrapment, dunno, only saw the trailer, and yeah, it looked like it had some cool looking pervy arse shots in it.
SO what? Doesnt mean she cant act, does it?
It looks to me that before she came to hollywood she had roles that showed off her acting skills, but then got roles that didnt really require huge acting skills, but were more interested in sex appeal. Maybe this will get her noticed, well, it has done, so she can then pick and chose other roles, maybe a bit more demanding.
that's my bit, any comments?

What happened to all the people in talkback that valued talent o
by niiiice
Everyone seems to be chiming in chorus "she's perfect!" and "she looks the part!". Seems like so many talkbackers are willing to forget the fact that she has displayed precisely zilch talent on the screen. And to think, these are the same people who kept on slamming Chris O'Donnel for Spiderman: "He can't act worth crap!" Wow, can't you see the irony just oozing from your hypocritical fanboy wet dreams! Someone getting a part merely on the basis of physical appearance. If it were a male role in consideration, and a popular male pretty boy were rumored to be cast in a fanboy role (Leo as Anakin, anyone?) you would all go absolutely ballistic, condemn the corrupted Hollywood system and fume in your seats. For shame.
-
Let me begin by saying that the Tomb Raider series suck major balls. All Lara Croft is, is a reason for some geeky ass nerd type to get in front of a PC and spank his monkey, and yes it's fucking wierd to do that to cartoon. The Character is lame, the game was way to overhyped and there are better woman characters out there in the gameing world. Oh and by the way Catherine Zeta Jones is perfect for Wonder Woman, now thats a woman I would spank too :P
-
What are they basing the movie on?
If it's the show, or the comic pre-90's then it will probably not be great... But if you've read the comic in the last few years you'll realize she's not just Eye Candy anymore... She IS what she should be... A amazon...
A warrior.. -
You know who should play Wonder Woman? Those loveable Goonies, that's who! Granted, there's more than one Goonie, and only one Wonder Woman, but they could pull it off! I have faith in those loveable pre-teen Goonies! If anyone could play Wonder Woman and make it work, the Goonies are the ones! I'm Mistamind, and I've said my piece.
-
Wonder Woman! Wonder Woman! In your satin tights, fighting for your rights.....
Sorry. I'm a sadist. In any case, well, I'm not that interested. Zeta Jones does look the part, but nowadays there are plenty of sexy female heroines around, so the character has no hook (at least none that I'm aware of- I don't follow the comic at all.) If the project gets a really interesting director or screenwriter involved, maybe I'll take notice.
As for some disparaging remarks about Ms. Jones' acting talent, well, she's not Emma Thompson, but she's not Denise Richards either. She can hold her own on screen, and she doesn't just have looks- she has raw sex appeal. That can go farther than one thinks. The old screen sirens are still remembered, even the ones that didn't win any Oscars.
And finally- whoever plays Lara Croft has to be British. That leaves Ms. Bullock out in the cold. I say go with Liz Hurley. -

She's so stuck up and uptight that she'll wear a winter coat and ski mask to avoid showing any skin and that pisses me off! Zeta-jones(soon to be douglas) is perfect for Wonder Woman. The outfit better be tight and have less cotton then inside an aspirin bottle.
-
That was evil... I respect that. But there have been rumors about "Ms Thang" CZJ playing everything... you know, like Leonardo DeCaprio playing everything from Superman to The Godfather. For the record, Entrapment's one saving grace was her backside and a ball of twine. As a movie, it was tolerable. Mask of Zorro was much better, for Catherine had her looks down, actually looked competent with a sword, and EXUDES sexuality. But why Wonder Woman? Didn't Ms. Jones turn down Felicity Shagwell for Austin Powers II? Even if she's picked, hopefully she's smart enough to turn WW down, too. And yes, please let the Fates choose Liz Hurley as lara Croft if they simply cannot die happy without yet another video-game based movie. At least THAT much will be watchable.
-
Sorry, Ms., soon to be Mrs., Zeta Jones cannot act and there is not one person in here who can name a movie where she did showed any acting talent because there isn't one. You pulled the only one out of their ass you thought most of the readers of this site hadn't seen so you would have an excuse to say she can act when in reality, you probably just have a hard-on for her (even if you are a female). She is a nice piece of eye-candy and nothing more and she has proved that even her amazing physical features cannot save a movie if it is bad. Or in The Haunting's case, the anti-christ of all movies.

Heard this Zeta-Jones/Bullock crap months ago...more news
by stonemonkey
I heard that Warner Bros supposedly signed Zeta-Jones after that 'Search for Wonder Woman' contest last year. The Bullock rumor is just that. Rumor. I believe someone suggested Julie(Mrs. I can't act my way outta B movies and a bad animated film)Strain. Whatta crock of... well, you know. I believe I've answered everyones prayers for the perfect choice to play Diana/Wonder Woman. After her breakout film last year, let me introduce you to Warner Brothers' new franchise piece-of-ass: Shannon Elizabeth(American Pie). She has the height, the amazonian look, the cans, acting ability, name recognition is still getting there, but she could pul it off with aplomb. She did star in that direct to cable/video pice of shit 'Jack Frost', but she did actually act before getting it from old 'Frosty' in the bath tub in that cold turkey. Shannon Elizabeth is our Wonder Woman. Anyone agrees e-mail the hell outa Harry and me(DeMzaLF@Earthlink.net). Later... The Stone Monkey has spoken.

I liked the laser scene in ENTRAPMENT too, but Catherine Zeta-Jones lacks the most crucial thing in this movie. BIG TITS!
Plus, she's Welsh, which just isn't right. Wonder Woman should be played by an All-American girl. She has frickin' stars, stripes and red, white, and blue on her costume! Sandra Bullock would be good but has the same problem. Maybe Angelina Jolie or Ashley Judd. I'm not usually like this, but this is very important for the role. I am sure Dave Chappelle is happy you are all stealing his material too. Hey, Harry. How do you feel about Rebecca Gayheart as Wonder Woman? -
Dudes and dudettes (is that a word?) Lucy Lawless *is* Wonder Woman! I mean, she's only been playing her for YEARS on XENA, THAT'S ALL! She'd be perfect! PERFECT!! CZJ is cute and all but she's got like 1/10th Lawless' acting talent and has nowhere near the necessary physical build! If anyone involved with the proposed Wonder Woman movie is reading this, I beg, I *implore* you to A.) hire a REALLY good scriptwriter; B.) drive a dumptruck full of money up to James Cameron's doorstep; C.) get Lucy Lawless on the phone (and hire Basil Poleouris for the score) and you will have a SEVERELY ass-kicking epic summer blockbuster that will break TITANIC'S box office records and make STAR WARS look like a festering pile of, um, bad footage! Oh, by all the GODS would I ever be there on opening night! WHOO-HOO! But I must repeat again--GET LUCY LAWLESS!! Do this thing right or don't do it at all--the world doesn't need another BATMAN AND ROBIN. Oh, and my alternative choice for director in case Cameron doesn't want to do it? RIDLEY SCOTT!
-
Just thought I'd like to mention that.I'm so proud of myself.Catherine Zeta-Jones is quickly becoming the poster woman for bad actresses who sleep around with movie veterans.I won't give any names, hack cough Douglas, but whoever puts her in a role like wonder woman is a jackass. And,at the risk of sounding prejudice,Wonder Woman is all-American.Catherine Zeta-Jones is Spanish or Columbian or something. You may as well cast Ricky Martin as Captain America.
-
of films--when actors played the lead and the supporting roles and females were relegated to the minor peripheral roles--then were films intelligent and artistic worth watching. we now have movies wherein a 'woman' actor is entrusted with carrying the film----WHA THA FUCK!!! Not that 'women' arent smart--they do know how to get a mens money and how to sow good clothes they are good clothes designers, and cut hair well- with the possible exception of some homo bastards--but anyway-sorry im ranting--the Scream trilogy anyone?? how many 'girls' were in that and was even ONE of them memorable?? Now with Charlies Angels and this absurd 'wonder woman' story, it doesn't make sense!! obviously Hollywood knows that the majority of the movie going public are males, who will watch a lady in a porno if they want to subject themselves to the gender, otherwise a man would prefer to see likeminded intelligent men on the silver screen as their role models, people to show the right way to be. If youre really reading this Hollywood studio execs--please try not to use so many females in lead roles in films---it is distracting of the intent and ethos of the picture and only makes me feel condescended to to have a 'girl' telling me how to be--for watching nudities and other manifestations of sexuality, people can watch a pornography film, otherwise please leave 'women' to the most minor roles in your movies.
-
Why not. She's in fact engaged to old fart Michael Douglas. Why not be wonder woman. Plus, she's got the looks and the body (no shit!!)
I say, it's a done deal. Cheers -
Funny, and all this time I thought Wonder Woman was a DC comicbook character that had been around at least 30 years before the 70's show. I hope they're not basing the movie on that show. Catherine Zeta Jones is the hottest thing on the big screen right now. She is the only reason I could sit through The Haunting. She is beyond fine. I will pay $9.50 to see her in a Wonder Woman outfit in a heartbeat.
-
As I was scrolling down, I was getting more and more fed up with the same exact people who trash O'Donnell, Leo, and others because they're "pretty boys" (though many forget Leo actually does have talent and many women think he looks like a twelve-year-old). Now Zeta-Jones, a very pretty woman IMO also, is up for a part that some claim has no talent requirement because it is a comic book(though in, ahem, X-men and Spiderman Talk Backs talent seems to be a requirement of the actor). And BTW...Mel Gibson wouldn't have a career if it weren't for his ass flashings in the Lethal Weapon movies...and I think in almost every movie I see, he's just Mel...IE "Braveheart"...Mel with a Scottish accent, a kilt and blue make-up.
-
But I'm also a film lover who happens to resent the fact that some of the male film lovers, like yourself, on this site are hypocrites when it comes to casting. And it goes BEYOND gender--"for a movie like Wonder Woman, acting doesn't matter" you say, but there are those who would say it doesn't matter for "X-men," "Spiderman" or any other comic book adaptation. I would hate to think what this site would be like if Harry pandered to the exact tastes of some fanboys here. I can just see the site brought down to a level where all you see and hear about is David Fincher, comic book movies, LOTR and Star Wars. Dear Lord! There is more to movies than science fiction and "Fight Club," dammit, and there is more to a woman being cast in a movie than the size of her tits!!! Sorry, had to get that off my chest. And the pun is SO not intended.***Also, your little keyboard stunt is reason for you to be banned for life, IM Your Daddy! Cut out the bullshit and quit making us who are trying to enjoy Talk Back scroll back and forth. It's annoying and childish.
-
Anyone besides me ever read George Perez's run on the revamped Wonder Woman comic in the late 80's. Man, those stories kicked some ass. Smart and character-driven, and he beefed up the Greek Mythology tie-in so there was lots of Jason and the Argonauts-style action. No cheesy-ass crooks - Wonder Woman was fighting minotaurs, cyclopses, and Greek gods (okay, and a few crooks too, but no cheesy ones). What's more, Perez wisely dispensed with the invisible jet and the hokey secret identity riff - he completely reinvented the character, only to have much of his work demolished after his amazing 50 issue run. If you only know Wonder Woman from the old TV show or the ridiculous first several decades of her comics career, you should check out Perez's work and see how good the character can be. **** No surprise, I think his interpretation of Wonder Woman would be best for the big screen. It was hugely innovative and had zero goofiness. Plus, his depiction of an Escher-like Mount Olympus kicked rocked hard. **** Catherine Zeta Jones is wrong for the part. I think she can be a decent actress, but she's clearly been attached to this purely for her looks. As someone mentioned, Sandra Bullock is also a poor choice - too much the spunky American. Wonder Woman needs to look beautiful, dignified, exotic, and if at all possible, Greek. Being able to come across as smart wouldn't hurt either (sorry, Sandra and Catherine). Offhand, Juliana Margulies from ER comes to mind, but she might be a few years too old to play Wonderwoman.
-
I have always thought and told my friends that C.Z.J would be beyond perfect in the role of a big-screen Wonder Woman. The Hair, that sexy gaze, the body, Hell I would pay admission just to hear the techno-trance Wonder Woman Theme song in S.D.D.mother fucking S! Fuck Sandra Washed up Bullock, has anyone seen that awful trailer Gun SHy? What the hell is that all about? Sorry but the only thing Sandra can do right about now is look into a t.v sitcom because that is where she is got to go!!! TOMB RAIDER, now I would give that role to Denise Richards....and if they ever made a big screen version of Mama's Family, I would give the lead role to Miss Ho-KYM!!!
-
As Cormorant points out very nicely, good writing can bring any character alive, even someone like Wonder Woman who I am honestly not interested in. I for one doubt it can be done well anyway because as many posters here have proven, there's a pretty big demand for T&A and the studio heads can't ignore that. Now I mean done well in the sense that it will not be any sort of faithful translation of the character at all...although it does have the potential to be a nice ass film, which I too don't have much of a problem with. As for "All Thumbs' " I'm glad she pointed out the double standard we got going here in Talk Back...but...I also gotta point out that we were not talking about her tits, we were talking about her ass. I'm saying that fairly sarcastically because as most of the TBers here know, we've been pretty much screwed over one comic book adaption after another, I mean, if you can't get Batmanor Superman, a character with a HUGE and WELL KNOWN history and following done very well (with the exception of some of the flicks), how can we possibly expect Wonder Woman to be any better, if any good at all!! The fact is, Wonder Woman just doesn't have much of a chance of being any good, which is why we got some of the silly posts that we got tonight. I'm not saying it can't be good, but we all know too well what Hollywood plans to do with Wonder Woman, just look at who they cast. Oh, and one last thing, Catherine Zeta Jones is not Spanish nor "COLOMBIAN", she's Welsh...yeah, that's over by Great Britain.
-
Yeah!!!Now,that would rock!!!!!
-
when i was young my cousin use to dress up like Wonder Woman and beat the shit out of me with a beach ball...here i am 18 years later and suprise suprise, i have a severe WW fixation. Zeta jones as WW? This is a GOOD thing. I cannot stress that enough. Shes a good enough actress and she looks the part. But this is probably bullshit anyway. Just another letdown for me and my penis....
and as for this tomb raider thing, why in gods name do it live action...anyone seen those animated commercials for the last revelation? Lara Croft was meant to be animated.... -
This is something i have been wondering about. It would seem that the IRON GIANT seems to be male oriented. Is there a female counterpart? If so, she should play the part in my opinion.
-
C Zeta Jones as wonder woman (there is a god), hihihhih! Sounds better than baywatch or showgirls. Todd, come up with something better. Check ya later
-
if they're really getting desperate and plumbing the depths of DC heroes, what about Zack and Jana, the Wonder Twins? Fuck Wonder Woman, everyone would rather have twins over one woman! The possibilities here are endless. Jana is "form of..." any animal, and Zack can be "form of...an ice dildo", or anything having to do with water. You're telling me you couldn't fill up 100 minutes with this? "Form of...a falcon!" "Form of...a bucket of water!" Put out that fire, damn it! There's no stopping these two with powers like that! I'm thinking Edward Norton as Jana and Brad Pitt as Zack. Throw in Helena Bonham Carter as Gleek the Wonder Monkey, and you know who's directing this baby...it's on, Summer 2001.
-
I have been a huge Wonder Woman fan my whole life, so forgive me for being a little biased, but a WW movie is LONG overdue. All of you TalkBackers who say that WW is too cheesy and lame obviously only know her from her lame TV show and her equally lame SuperFriends appearances. Funny how no one judges Superman or Batman based on their respective lame TV shows or SuperFriends, but on the comic books that spawned them. Why should Wonder Woman be any different? Consider this:Besides Supes & Batman, WW is the ONLY Comic Book character to have been consecutively published for nearly 60 years. They same can't be said for Captain America, Flash, G.L. or any other comic book character. They went away for years before coming back. Also, she was the first female superhero, arriving in an age when women were almost all still in the kitchen or wondering when they were going to pop out a baby, there was WW, busting up Nazi spy rings and fighting Greek Gods. Without her, there would be no She Hulk, Xena, Lara,Witchblade, etc.etc. She was a good 30 to 40 years ahead of her time. So all you Diana haters should read George Perez' revival from a few years back, or WW's part in Kingdom Come, and THEN tell me they can't make a decent Wonder Woman flick. As for Catherine Zeta Jones, She looks more like Wonder Woman than any other hollywood actress, and she looks exotic, as she should ( a note to all those talkbackers who said WW should be "All American": Diana is from an island of ancient greek Amazons. The last thing she should be is "All American") CZJ does not strike me as Oscar material, but she also does not strike me as a bad actress. The only thing I have seen her in was the Haunting, which was really bad, but it seemed to be more from the bad script, effects, direction, etc. than from any of the actors. Unless you all want to tell me now that Liam Neeson and Lily Taylor are bad actors too, just because they were in a bad film. OK, I'm done with my rant; just please let the movie Gods keep Jon Peters and Sandra Bullock AWAY from this one!!
-
She even said it on the "Howard Stern Show" she'd take the part if they asked her.
XENA and WONDERMAN are parrellel characters, why do you think they call XENA the AMAZON princess?!? Who better to play WW than the one plays XENA?
I am not a fan of XENA or WonderWoman, but to me it's so obvious and simplistic that Lucy Lawless should play WonderWoman. -
Not a chance in hell, but she'd make a cool adversary for Wonder Woman. After all, she's a pretty hot looking chick and she can definitely kick-ass. She could probably beat Xena hands down. I'm surprised she hasn't been approached to be in Xena, she'd make a kick-ass villain. There, I've said my piece, even if no-one here believes it.
-
Read my last posting with a magnifyling glass people. Julie Strain is 'Mrs. I can't do any better than B movies and a shitty animated one based on a famous comic anthology magazine,' Sandy Bullock is no way in hell perfect for Wonder Woman. She hardly has breasts and her last couple films didn't break box office records. Not saying breasts make the role you feminazis. Lucy Lawless? Maybe when she was younger. Zeta-Jones? Come'on she's not tall enough. Amazon People. Amazon! Hell my sister could play Diana. She's 6'1" tall and busty. But I won't go there...The obvious answer is Shannon Elizabeth, who after her stint in 'American Pie' as the foreign exchange student with Amazonian looks and bod to boot is making her name known with cover shots on MAXIM magazine and others. Wake up nimrods and look at your now-worn-out copies of 'American Pie'(Unrated version) and make the correlation. Shannon Elizabeth IS Wonder Woman!! The Stone MOnkey has spoken. E-mail me when you wake the hell up people. DeMzaLF@Earthlink.net
-
My introduction to the above mentioned word happened the first time I saw Lynda Carter wearing that spandex outfit. I think I sprouted my first pube right then and there. Catherine Zeta-Jones is one of the hottest women on the planet, but KNOCKERS she does not posess.
-
You've got to assume WB will want a name for this, since Wonder Woman doesn't exactly have a massive fan base. Sure, a Perez-esque WW with the most talented actress available (and maybe Angelina Jolie as that Cheetah-chick villainess) would rock, but it'd be doomed to cult status and a $14 million box office total. And if you want someone strictly for looks there are plenty of actresses around: Jennifer Connelly, Sherilyn Fenn, the aforementionad Shannon Elizabeth... but CZJ is the only big name that comes close. I'd have to think the role is hers if she wants it, and if she doesn't they might just scrap the whole thing. (Unless the Scream spoof does REAL well and makes Elizabeth A-list.)

Correct me if I'm wrong please, but didn't Cathrine Zeta-Jones just land a first look or exclusive production deal at Warners? If so, she most likely agreed to sell out with Wonder Woman for the deal at her prod. co
And I argree with the above posters, Jon Peters is old school, step aside and let us, the new regime up to the plate... -
Say what you want, I like Catherine Zeta-Jones. She looks like a young Natalie Wood! Which doesn't make her ideal for Wonder Woman like the amazonian Lucy Lawless, but Jones is a big name, a capable actress(in my opinion, though obviously you guys hate any one whose been in a big Hollywood movie). Just remember, Sandra Bullock was originally suggested for this part. I can't even see her as Wonder Girl. Jones is a far better suggestion for Diana, and I'm much happier with this rumor. Lawless would be great, but it won't happen so long as she's Xena. Dumb, since WW would increase hype for Xena, I'd think, but the suits are running these things. Maybe WW should battle Bean Counter Executives poised to take over the world by boring it to death with uncreative drivel.

Ahhh that's better... I was talking with a female friend recently about this, and she had a good idea for casting... Renee Russo. She did fairly good in Lethal Weapon 3 with those fight scenes, and while she's a bit older, she's good looking AND she can act. Just my two cents...

As a stand alone hero, she's kind of boring. I loved the TV show as a kid, but that was just high camp. I'd rather see a She-Hulk film too. Now there a woman with personality!

by superninja
I just can't see them doing it. I'd LOVE to see WW running around Olympus, tangling with the gods, but I have a bad feeling we're going to get the tired 'ol "fish out of water" story. Gads, my head would explode if they actually tried to make Kingdom Come! I don't think it's impossible. Even my boyfriend who is not really into comic books thought it was excellent. He's only familiar with Superman and Batman really. Wonder Woman had this wonderful sort of threatening personality -- she seemed more like a force of nature than she ever has before. Too bad it's not what we're going to get.

neither have tits. They are both way to small. Check out Dr. X's porno site, nothing there.
Warrior is right, I'd rather see Lynda Carter come back, her cheast is a wonder from above. -
The George Perez version is exactly what I was thinking about when I wrote my origional post. That's why I want Lucy Lawless and NOT CZJ! I am NOT interested in a stupid ass, brainless tits-and-spandex exploitation film! I WANT EPIC, DAMMIT! Think DeMille! Think Ridley Scott! Think Spielberg at the top of his game! I want a huge, GLORIOUS 2 or yes even 3 hour long tour-de-force about the Greek Amazon warrior who comes to the world of men from Paradise Island and lays the SMACK down on crime and evil! The only thing she needs is an opponant worthy of her stature! A fully fleshed out character who is her opposite number and who poses a real threat to my favorite Amazon's very existance! Superman has Lex Luthor; Batman has The Joker; Sherlock Holms has Dr. Moriarty--who does Wonder Woman have? That is what we need. That and a kick-ass script that will truly do justice to the story. Please, please, please let it be so! I hope for something on the level of the great Sergei Eisenstein's ALEXANDER NEVSKY or at the very very LEAST, John Milius' CONAN THE BARBARIAN--the FIRST movie, by all the gods, not the puke-worthy sequels! Give us greatness, Warner Brothers! We will except nothing less. Great Hera, am I high on this!
-
Just adding my two cents. they should just adapt the first 6 issues of the George Perez "Wonder Woman" run. With a few minor changes, that could make for one hell of a film.
Also, I can scarcely believe that some of you think WW is only interesting in terms of her relationship to Superman etc. I suppose you're the same imbeciles who think all women should be defined by their releationships with men. Grow up! -
Man. I don't even have to read the content of the talk backs, just the subject lines. I just know that at least 75% of you dorks have your hands down your pants already. But hey, when someone mentioned the poss of Jude Law playing Anakin, I ran into the bathroom and locked the door too.

Does this thing work? There hasn't been a single post in hours.
-
OK Chaps - Enough is enough!
1/ CZJ CAN ACT! - Entrapment was a fluff piece - Zorro was ok, but she has been acting on Stage in the West End of London since she was 13.
She has also been acting in good stuff for the BBC etc.
Its not her fault that Hollywood careers initially rely more on looks than Talent ( Susan Sarandon, Gwyneth Paltrow etc all did looks led movies to start off)
Wonder Woman will be a pile of shit whoever stars in it - cos the comic sucks!
2/ CZJ is WELSH - not fucking English ok! - Its like calling Americans Canadians and vice versa - SO DONT DO IT!
3/ Lara Croft is English - and there isnt one suitable US Actress capable of producing a real accent! So Sandra Bullock aint got no chance!
-
I don't think that Wonder Women would work nowadays, I mean it still is good as a comic. But how do you think audiences would react to seeing a women in a short suit thingy that fights crime with a magic rope?
I realise that audiences WOULD like to see a women in a short suit thingy that fights crime with a magic rope, but, ummmm...
sophisticated audiences would not like the story that much (even if Catherine is in the film).
P.S I would just like to state that Catherine Zeta Jones (while being a babe) cannot act that well.
-
We are not living in the 90's anymore... I think...
-
Zeta Jones sure looks the part more then Sandra Bullock, and would make a good Wonder Woman. It would be cool if they could get Lynda Carter to play Hippolytta. Just hope they keep Jon Peters and Joel Schumacher AWAY from this project. FAR AWAY.
-
Hmmm...you're worried that "sophisticated" audiences won't take to Wonder Woman? My question: *what* sophisticated audience? The one that made The Waterboy a hit? The audience comprised of the same pathetic losers whose discussion of the importance of tits and ass have dominated this Talkback? Hell, maybe somewhere out there, there IS a sophisticated audience, but it sure as hell isn't the mainstream moviegoing public or the people who post here. Believe it or not guys, Wonder Woman is a superhero with a lot of potential if treated seriously. In fact, her strong iconic status gives her the potential to be the female equivalent of Superman - something a little more than Xena and Lady Death I think. Take your dicks out of your hands for a minute and you might realize the character is more than just an adolescent sex object.
-
Lucy Lawless is too butch. Alot of you out there fail to realize that the bulk of the people that would go see this is gen-X females who grew up loving wonder woman and Charlie's Angels. For that reason, it should not be exploitive, although I can't see how they could pull it off any other way. Wonder woman should be not only physical, but poised and womanly. I can see CZJ in this role more that any other actress out there that I'm aware of. Sandra Bullock is far too 'gosh-darn it, aren't I cute?' for the part. Maybe if you dye Peta Wilson's hair brown, she might work. Or Gina Gershon.
-
It should be cool. DC seems to render better on the big screen
-
Where'd they go? MY POSTS ARE GONE... to fix the scrolling, or ...?
-
I would die to see that woman( Catherine Zeta-Jones) as Wonder Woman...She is perfection(next to my Girlfriend of course(Waves, Hiya hun=^)
But seriously...she is pretty much who I've visioned as WW. It would be smart...I'm still wanting her to be a Sidious' next apprentice in Episode II!!! NOW THAT is Casting!!!! -
Everyone is down with Zeta-Jones' caboose. I'm sorry, but Wonder Woman's ass has always played second fiddle to her rack. Casting decisions should be made solely based on bra size, with a 36DD as the minimum requirement. Acting ability is not only unnecessary, it is detrimental to the role. The role (and story) is so stupid, that to play it straight with and "actor" would be wrong. Wonder Woman is non-politically correct camp. Therefore, the "actress" is unnecessary. Perfect choice is Denise Richards. She's got the tits for it. End of story. She can't act and that's the bonus. Jennifer Connelly is even better. Playboy model, Petra Verkaik is also perfect. She's got more shelf space than most liabraries. Jennifer Love Hewitt could be Super Girl. She's got the boobs. So quit talking about butts when we should be talking about milk bags!

'Nuff Said!
-
I realize we're not exactly being in a politically correct mood so I'll offer my choice as Cynthia Rothrock for Wonder Woman's nemesis. Her bust is more than adequate and she's not exactly a threat to Meryl Streep. Are we allowed to post pictures.
