Look, Austin gets all the cool stuff, we know that, but I've been working behind the scenes here in Houston to get some fun things for us as well. I have a Houston screening for a summer film coming up (and I'll announce more on that on Friday), and I've got some other things cooking around town that I think you Houstonians will enjoy, including something special in September, if all goes well.
Robert Saucedo of the Houston area Alamo Drafthouses is a great guy and he's always thinking of new and fun things to do here in town. One of them is GRAVEYARD SHIFT, a once-a-month screening of a classic horror film, with guests and prizes. This Saturday, the Alamo Drafthouse at West Oaks will be screening the ultimate Father's Day horror film, CREEPSHOW. There's going to be a trivia contest, prizes, and Father's Day cake, among other surprises. I'll be co-hosting with Robert and I hope to be asked to do more of these in the future. I think it's going to be a blast, and any Houston AICNers should come and support as many of these events as they can. We want Houston to get more cool stuff like this, and yeah, we know it's a pain in the ass to drive anywhere in this town, but if we can show that Houston has just as much fun as our friends in Austin, maybe more cool stuff will come our way!
To that end, I'm giving away two free tickets to Saturday's Alamo Drafthouse screening, to the person that gives me their funniest, scariest, or just plain bizarre Father's Day story.
