It's official! Screen Gems is not the new Dimension!
Whereas other studios might sit on a promising foreign film for years after acquiring it, Clint Culpepper and company have honorably chosen to give Joe Cornish's ATTACK THE BLOCK a legitimate U.S. release! Wisely, they've decided to go the platform route, debuting the film in several major markets on July 29th and expanding throughout the month of August. If they nail the marketing on this (and don't over-screen the movie between now and then), I'm fairly certain they've got the sleeper hit of summer 2011 on their hands. Trust, bruv!
And if you live in Los Angeles, you can buy a ticket right now to see it at the L.A. Film Festival on June 22nd (the titles are listed alphabetically, so just scroll down). I'm sure it's close to selling out, so don't delay!
