Join AICN & Teen Filmmaker Emily Hagins for a special screening of SUPER 8 at the Alamo Drafthouse South!
Hey folks, Harry here with something that should signal just how in love I am with SUPER 8, another event for Austin for SUPER 8. This is just the type of film I'd love to see more of. Not a sequel, not an adaptation, just great summer fun made with a sense of joy of filmmaking at its core. SO - grab your seat and I'll see ya there!
JJ Abrams wants you to be the FIRST to see Super 8, and he has chosen EMILY HAGINS and AICN to show it to you in AUSTIN!!
Please join us for a free early screening on Wednesday, June 8th at 10:00pm at THE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE SOUTH LAMAR.
There will be free popcorn and soda, and a chance to win a Super 8 prize pack! To RSVP, please go to www.Super8Secret.com and enter the password MINT
No purchase is necessary.
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
Directed by J.J. Abrams from his original script, the Bad Robot / Amblin Entertainment Production is produced by Steven Spielberg, Abrams and Bryan Burk.
The film stars Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Joel Courtney, Gabriel Basso, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills.
SUPER 8 is in theaters June 10.

How to join Emily Hagins & AICN for a Super Secret SUPER 8 Screening? #MINT
-
The SUPER 8 site was having difficulty - but it's all clear now - here's the secret screening info again.
-
... Seriously, what was up with that Superman photo yesterday?
-
Is that the one that's in the Magnited States?
-
/facepalm
-
Thanks for the heads-up, Harry! I kept trying and finally got through. God bless the Magnited States Of America! MSA! MSA!
-
where defuck is my BLURAY column? Just cause Quint was wrecking shop and doing some massive lifting yesterday doesnt give you the go ahead for a lazy tuesday. You can rest when you die. I need to bitch about lack of HD for the fleisher Supertoons.
-
but I'm all the way out here in sunny California! Oh well. And again with this "MINT" codeword in association with Super 8--is it one of JJ's bullshit viral lures?
-
they have other screenings nationwide. check the site for closer screenings.
-
is it still not working properly? what do I have to do?

Cool, Harry! What's Emily's connection to/part of this awesome screening?
by The Reluctant Austinite
Since I'm stuck here and can't fly out to Austin for this screening, but I'm a fan of Emily (and her super cool Mom), I'm just wondering how she's involved in presenting the film. Other than being a young film maker herself, what is she doing? Showing her own super 8 movie? We must know the details!
-
but this might just be the first time living in waco was a plus.... i'll be going to dallas instead (although i'd have much preferred austin). crappy that the doors open 3 hrs before the movie.
-
wait for the movie to start? and if the doors open at 7 per Alamo standards, i gotta be there at 6. So i have to be at the Alamo 4 hours before the film starts?!?! what up with that, Harry? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
-
Since Harry says JJ picked her to present the movie.
-
7pm opening time for a 10pm movie. I mean I'm glad I got passes and I appreciate it but holy shit. Too bad we can't get there at 7, get a number and then go to the Highball while we wait.
-
So the film starts at 7 or at 10? The email says doors open at 7, but you said 10 p.m. What does it exactly mean by doors open? Should people arrive there at 7 or way before 7? I am confused... any info would help! Especially if it's a late screening then I can give up my seat and someone else will be able to watch the film!
