Amy Adams joins Paul Thomas Anderson's next!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an update on the in-the-works "kind of about Scientology maybe a little" Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson movie.
Deadline's Mike Fleming has it on good authority that the lovely Amy Adams, fresh off her fantastic performance in The Fighter, will be joining Thomas' film as Philip Seymour Hoffman's wife.
Fleming also says that both Laura Dern and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo's Lena Endre are in talks to join up.
The news could be that the homeless guy with the radio voice was starring and it'd still be exciting news. It's a new Paul Thomas Anderson movie for gosh darn sakes!
Thoughts?

This movie is going to be PURPA!
-
Another overly long, boring, pretentious film that is really nothing but the director masturbating over how amazing he thinks he is?

Amy Adams is cool. She used to be a Hooters girl and is now a movie star .. gotta give it up for that.
by Professor_Monster
Seriously, I commend those who don't ride the nepotism train or aren't getting deals at Temple. Adams rocks and I hope she does another hundred films.
-
Do you actually talk like that?
-
what the crap?
-
and she's getting railed by Parson's while he's chanting weird magick stuff and huffing poppers...

It is impossible for Amy Adams to ever top what she did in Enchanted

for this movie. Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Philip Baker Hall, Jan Michael Vincent... What's Philip Michael Thomas doing nowadays?

That book was something else - at the end I had only the vaguest idea of what had transpired, but the writing was so good that it made slogging through an Ellroy-esque plot fairly enjoyable. PTA is one of very few directors I'd trust with it. You have to be in the mood for one of his films, but if that's the worst that can be said of him, he's going OK.

After reading the New Yorker article about Paul Haggis and his defection from Scientology, I've come to view it as an organization very, very differently than I used to... the piece is long as fuck, but it couldn't be a more worthwhile read for anybody curious about what exactly is up with Scientology, why someone would be drawn to it in the first place and not run screaming in the other direction, and the ways in which it has become completely and totally screwed up. When I finished reading it, I was like "Well, in five years when Scientology doesn't exist any more, this article's gonna be cited as the major reason why..."

There Will Be Blood is one of the best films ever made. And Punch Drunk Love is close.
by Dr. Samuel Loomis
For all you fucking assholes who hate on There Will Be Blood, you need to practice some patience and stop expecting nothing but shock and awe every goddamn second.

Yeah, i know...

Thanks for pointing me to the New Yorker article. Very informative, interesting and frightening article. Long but worth it.

I must agree.

I had no idea you had such good taste. You're welcome.

I'll check out that link ...

Tommy Davis and his mother are crazy(like the rest of them). The cult of Scientology has fucked up so many families. Its pure evil.

...when the hell this is supposed to come out? Amy Adams is allegedly supposed to shoot this BEFORE Superman but I don't want to wait until December 2012 to see what PTA has in store.

Amy Adams is this generation's....who?...Goldie Hawn..
by openthepodbaydoorshal
She can go from Disney to the best thing in a franchise's sequel (Smithsonian) to Oscar nominated drama to the Muppets and back... And she looks damn adorable whether in a princess gown or "fuck me" lingerie...

Honestly, I kind of am looking forward to Transformers 3, but only because I like a lot of different genres and styles of movies. I realize that TF3 will probably suck, but it'll be a fun way to waste a hot, humid Florida afternoon in a cool air-conditioned theater, watching robots blow shit up as my childhood memories get raped with really fancy CGI and an insanely high budget. I can appreciate a wide range, from dramas to comedies to arthouse, to yes, even stupid Michael Bay explosion-laden summer popcorn flicks. Just because I find Paul Thomas Anderson to be dull and pretentious, does not mean I must ONLY like the lowest common denominator.

I agree with arafel Amy Adams is to old to play Lois Lane, and well she's not hot enough!
by Jack
Let's be serious she's cute but not hot at all, and she's got an ugly body. Also more important then that she doesn't say "Lois Lane" at all! Oh, and not to mention that she doesn't bring people to see her movies. She has no boxoffice drawing power. Nobody saw the Fighter because of her... They saw it because of Bale, and Marky Mark, and the story of the movie. She was a freak of the weak on Smallville who's come along way but Lois Lane she is not. And her being in this movie only proves that the production for Shrimp of Steel is in deep trouble, and as some are predicting that movie will be canned any day now by the studio. I don't expect the movie to happen honestly, and I hope it doesn't because so far Snyder has put together one of the worst casts in movie history! I mean seriously a terrible cast. Not 1 single boxoffice draw has been added to the cast. Singer had a better cast then Snyder! And his cast was bloody terrible.
