A Remake Of JCVD's BLOODSPORT!?!?

Merrick here...

Producer Ed Pressman (Oliver Stone's WALL STREET, Brian De Palma's PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, Terrence Mallick's BADLANDS, John Milius' CONAN THE BARBARIAN, and..perhaps most importantly...Dolph Lundgren's MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE) looks to be mounting a remake of Jean Claude- Van Damme's 1988 Cannon films action fest BLOODSPORT -  and he's bringing director Phillip Noyce (PATRIOT GAMES, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, SALT) and scripter Robert Mark Kamen (frequent Luc Besson collaborator) along for the ride.

Per THIS piece at ScreenDaily, the reworked BLOODSPORT will...

...will follow an American who goes to Brazil to recover from the violence he has experienced in Afghanistan who gets involved in a martial arts contest.

Wish they wouldn't movie the action from Hong Kong to Brazil, as we've seen a lot of Brazil in movies lately and...frankly...I'm kinda thinking Hong Kong is a much cooler/more dynamic setting.  Wonder if this is being done for the same reason the RED DAWN remake folks had to change their American invaders from Chinese to North Korean? (DETAILS HERE) I.e. China is now too important a market to piss off?
