IRON SKY's latest teaser promo is Udolicious!
Hey folks, Harry here... As IRON SKY keeps creeping closer and closer to reality - it's starting to look like a whole lot of fun, don't you think? Nothing like Nazis on the Dark Side of the moon with crazy future tech to take over the world! I wonder if they found that stash of Decepticon mech that's apparently up there? Or whatever is going on in Timur's flick. All that said, what's up with all the sudden filmic fear mongering about Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon? They've nearly got me convinced that we should pull a SPACE: 1999 on that hunka rock!

So glad these crazy bastards are still plugging away at this. Udo for the Gewinn!!!
-
Very nice. Love the retro-futuristic sci-fi. We don't get nearly enough of that, last one I can think of was Sky Captain.
-
This is cool news!

I woulda preferred it if Worst Case Scenario had gotten made.
by Royston Lodge
Oh well, this may be a sufficient substitute.
-
Not so excited about a Nazi Star Wars going mainstream, unless there is a clear satyrical twist to it, but it certainly does not show from the trailer. Not everyone can be Tarentino or Mel Brooks, but many can try and make a buck with a pseudo-comic Nazi flick playing on the edge of morality and filmmaking. then again, I might be totally off-path, let's see..

Flynn-Lives: being a pretentious, douche-bag hipster is so five minutes ago
by Dharma4
...see the irony? Don't your kind like irony?
-
BUT BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT, AND FULL OF NAZIS WHO MAY OR MAY NOT BE SUPERWEREWOLVES.
-
...and as for my "kind", sorry to disappoint you but I am not Jewish. On the other hand, you definitely belong to the not-so-smart-dum-ass kind. And that's not ironic.

Flynn-Lives: and here I thought me and you were in the same brain-wave length
by Dharma4
...but before we settle our peaces, your spelling of "dumb" as "dum." Ironic, or not? This is getting too meta for me.
-
Am I supposed to giggle in glee at this nonsense like the typical panty wearing fanboy? The title is hackneyed, the concept ridiculous and unoriginal. And I like how everything on the chalkboard is written in that German type font. Anyone who likes this is exposing themselves as an idiot.
-
... way back when, I thought there was something to this. I haven't changed my mind. This could be really, really good.

So loving this trailer merely confirms that fact.

Thanks for giving me some background to this movie, Harry!
by CHRISTIAN_BALE_TRASHED_MY_LIGHTS
I'm guess the "Timur" you talk about is the guy that directed "Nightwatch" and "Wanted", right? So he's directing this movie about nazis on the moon now? Or is he just producing it? Hell. I suppose I better go to IMDb and get some information on this thing. Thanks again, buddy!

Wait-The Nazis are invading from the Moon AND are led by Udo Kier?!
by Randy_of_AFTimes
In the words of Bender, "We're boned!" Can't wait!

Read Larry Niven's "Footfall."
-
I guess this is where I show my simplistic taste and say, "Oh come on! It's a cool retro looking movie with freakin' Nazis attacking from the Moon! It seems like good goofy fun. Where's the geek kid in you?" But then I remember that I live in the digital age, and bitching about things online -- in particular, things that haven't even come out yet -- has become a new national pastime. Well...it still looks cool to me!
-
So I'll probably like this.
-
This looks like good ol' campy awesomeness.
-
could be a really unique movie.

Not even a rental. NEXT!

For the sake of self-conscious, sardonic pop-culture bullshit like this. Fuck this movie.

Looks pretty cool... love 'alt history' stories...
by Roman Troy Moronie
Though it's probably going to... oh, look at that... the PC brainwashed pseudo-intellectual hipster douchebags have ALREADY arrived to leave commentary. "Anything that doesn't broadcast a politically correct idealist message should never exist!" seems to be their way .. Irony being they are wishing to be as suppressive as any Nazi or Bolshevik regarding any "un-PC" thought, and vilify anything contrary to their herd mentality Pollyanna ideals. "No censorship or limits on freedom and artistic expression, unless we don't like it... then it's obviously evil and must be destroyed". Wankers.
-
...was the last time the Yellowstone volcano erupted. That was a black time, indeed.
-
But I am intrigued. It looks different, I must say. It could be quite interesting. Heinlein's first juvenile, "Rocketship Galileo," (the source for "Destination Moon") had a National Socialist base on the moon and I wonder if this movie is riffing on that. You never go wrong when you steal from the best (e.g. Heinlein). I had a script called "Escape from Nazi Dinosaur Island" about an island in the Antarctic where dinosaurs were being bred to attack the world by flying UFO's, only . . . it was actually a movie set run by a crazed director and when the world's largest car ferry went off course in the Atlantic because of a huge solar flare, and found itself drifting near the island, all hell broke loose. I shopped it in Hollywood but they said because I wasn't a big shot reviewer on AIC, I shouldn't call them, or something like that. I forget the rest.

Udo Kier playing with Nazi space zeppelins - this has to be pro-Nazi, right?? ;)
by Salmar80
kidicarus - if you can't make fun of the Nazis, what/who can you make fun of? I've followed this one from the get-go, and one thing is for sure: it ain't a pro-Nazi film by a long shot. The theme that isn't shown in the teasers is the clever one. The Moon Nazis have been cut off from the Earth, and are essentially stuck to the 1945 era. You know, when blitzkrieg was still a viable tactic and lederhosen was the fashion. When they come back in 2018, the Earth is quite unlike what they expected - and therein lies the comedy... That's all i know.
-
I'd watch that in 3d.
-
LOVE IT !!!!!
-
Nice to hear some Laibach.
-
Some of you fucks need to go relieve some stress.

They didn't have Uranium, and although they achieve a surprise attack, they are nuked into oblivion.

... there IS uranium on the moon! Boned!

It's just crazy enough to work.

I don't think Timur has anything to do with this flick.
by SierraTangoFoxtrotUniform
As per usual, Harry likes to drop in random pieces of information and he's so stupid he assumes we're all on the same page. It's typical of self-centered buffoons.
-
>I'd watch that in 3d. You got it! When I originally conceived the screenplay none of the technologies which infest the local multiplex were being seriously considered. Now, all that has changed. I think 3-D would work great for "Escape from Nazi Dinosaur Island," with scenes of the saucers zooming in over the doomed car-ferry . . . Well, 3-D certainly couldn't hurt.
-
It's got space Nazi's led by Udo Kier! Looks like good campy fun. And fuck all the haters. They bitch when it's a remake and they bitch when the idea is original. And by original I mean it hasn't been made into a movie.
-
By "your kind", I believe Dharma4 meant "pretentious, douchebag hipster". See how that works? You jackass.
-
When I saw the teaser awhile ago thought they were going retro like the Buck Rodges serials from the 40s and like the Sky Captain movie, but I like the feel for this flick. As for those people complaining bout Dark side or Far side of the moon did you know that the actual moon moves in such a way that we only see one side of the moon EVER.
-
In the latter part of WWII there were rumors that the Nazis were in fact looking into actually having a base on the moon. Also the USA space program and rockets were developed from Nazis scientists and Wernher von Braun was the director. We may have beaten them but continued their research. Sorry if I went off topic, I just like this subject matter.
-
........& Laibach to provide the music? This will be the film of 2012, for me anyway.
-
Yeah right, another talkback script slip-up. There are probably plenty in the movie anyway, controversy sells, right? I'll second Kidicarus motion: Fuck this movie.
-
What the hell is wrong with you?
-
Nothing, really. Not comfortable with the trailer not showing some degrees of humor or irony the movie may contain , and with the fact that a talented young filmaker could have chosen to mainstream so many other topics but that he chose this one. Then again, as previously stated, I might be wrong, and would love to be, but it's not a good start.Time will tell.
-
So Nazis can only be in a movie if it's a satire? Gee, we better build a time machine and go back to the 40's and kick some director asses, because all of the Nazis' contemporaries made movies where they were scary dudes who would fuck us up without any humor or satire at all.
-
Alert the Levin estate: THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL contains insufficient humor and irony. We must digitize Gregory Peck out of the film version and re-shoot it as a comedy musical. Oh, and THE ODESSA FILE must be re-made by the cast from Glee. Everyone credit Flynn-Lives with setting us straight!
-
Uwe Boll is nowhere near this project :>
-
I don't know...but it's funny as HELL! Heh-heh.....those Nazis are so whacky! Steven Spielberg used them to classically ironic effect in SCHINDLER'S LIST, and who could ever forget the hilarity of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK? Yep...if you're gonna make a movie featuring Nazis, you gotta go for the laugh!

Jesus Harry! How about some backstory to this film?
by Col. Tigh-Fighter
And the one that came before it? Star Wrek: In The Pirkining. This is basically a fan-made film from Finnish nerds. Its fan funded/self funded and has been nearly a decade in the making. Star Wrek is better than many "professional" films. It was rendered on many home Pc's lashed together in the directors bedroom. And it also took years to make. These are the ultimate fans-turned-film makers. And they make shit ten times more original, and geek friendly than many multi-million pound film makers. Frankly, they could have their own film made about them. Nazis on the Moon FTW!!!!!!!! But dont tell Fett, otherwise the title might confuse him as it doesnt have the word Moon in it.
-
... he's referring to Apollo 18 when he says that, which is being produced by Bekmambetov.
-
Found this 2009 Q&A from Timo Vuorensola on line. Yes, it does make me feel better about the portrayal of the Nazis, so Mea Culpa it is, but the X88 comment shows how one must be careful.. ...Peace. http://www.wreckamovie.com/productions/ironsky/blog/218
-
What the fuck is wrong with some of you? Remember the OUTLANDER! Solomon Kane, Centurion fuck-ups? Cool little movies that never got proper distribution? Want this to happen again to another cool little film? And there's douchebags talking about "irony" and "cheapening one of the darkest periods in history". Jesus christ- you know why films such as Sucker Punch were terrible? Postmodernism and fucking Irony. IRON FUCKING SKY!!! Anyway, it's just paving the way for the forthcoming Astrodykes v Werewolves on the Moon.
-
even in this trailer
-
Awesome, this is the greatest thing I've seen in a VERY long time.
-
The Nazis were/ are the biggest pieces of shit the world has ever known. I know what they did and tried to do to the world 70 years ago. Anything that makes them look like the assholes that they are is okay with me. They will always be the perfect movie villains.

Wanna know how to utilize the audience to make a cool ass movie?!
by Salmar80
One awesome and pretty unique thing about Iron Sky is that it is partially funded and made by the fans. I know others have done it, but not NEARLY to this extent. And i don't mean buying cheap merchandise (sure you can do that), but looks like you can actually INVEST in the movie, and get a share of the possible profits. They've gathered over 700 000 bucks this way. I haven't seen THAT before! They also launched a internet-based communal film making site wreckamovie.com, where filmmakers give tasks and the hobbyist web community can really offer stuff that will be used in the movie. Here follows how the Iron Sky team explains it: http://www.youtube.com/user/energiaproductions#p/u/2/nLRcUcg2TUI

I'm half German and my great Grandfather was a Prussian Officer can I join the Space Nazi's????
-
"Jetpack Hitler. Reality has really jumped the shark". Looks cool. Nazis will always be the classic villains.
