Khan director Nicholas Meyer, Warren Beatty talking Dick Tracy and more to appear at the 2nd Hero Complex Film Festival!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little advance word on the next Hero Complex Film Festival, run by the very likable Geoff Boucher over at the LA Times.

You may remember last year I was on the ground, reporting on Leonard Nimoy’s Q&A for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Christopher Nolan’s Q&A on Insomnia and The Dark Knight and Ridley Scott’s Q&A for Blade Runner and Alien. I plan on attending this year’s Hero Complex Fest as well, especially since I've taken a gander at the line-up!

Possibly the coolest part, for me, is that they got Warren Beatty to come out and screen and discuss Dick Tracy, a film I haven't seen since childhood, but have extremely fond memories of.

The great Nicholas Meyer will be appearing with a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which will be followed up by JJ Abrams’ Star Trek with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof doing a Q&A (and, apparently, committing to talking publicly about their Star Trek 2 plans for the first time).

That’ll be a fun night for Trek nerds and hopefully an illuminating night as well for those curious about the Abrams Trek sequel. Personally I’m excited to hear Meyer talk about Khan. I might be getting some time with him before fest… you better believe we’ll be talking Khan and Time After Time should that come to pass.

Also happening at the fest will be a double feature of Superman and Superman 2: The Donner Cut with (you guessed it) Richard Donner talking about the first true blue superhero movie blockbuster series. Jon Favreau will also appear to show Iron Mans 1 & 2 and on top of all that there'll be a sneak preview of Cars 2 alongside a matinee screening of The Incredibles.

I imagine there'll be a lot more surprises hoisted upon us nerds in attendance, but that's the announced line-up!

The festival will run June 9th-12th at the Mann Chinese 6 theater. Check the Hero Complex Film Festival page for the full schedule, to buy tickets and all other fun details!

Hopefully I’ll be seeing a good many of you at this year’s Fest. Don’t be shy if you see me around!
