X-MEN trailer description plus more

Published at:  Jan 03, 2000 1:44:58 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here with a scoop that came in from Lincoln at CountingDown.Com and folks it sounds like, if this is real, that this is one kickass trailer. Taking a look at the releasing schedule of films, I can see just a few places that FOX might want to debut the trailer. The first would be during the SUPER BOWL. The next BIG Fox release will be THE BEACH. But they might try to have it placed with films like SCREAM 3 and/or PITCH BLACK, which marketing bean counters may see as having the same market audience. Well, enough from me... onto the scoop....

SHOT 1- FOX logo appears and a the title song begins (ROB ZOMBIE-"DRAGULA").

SHOT 2- MARVEL logo appears.

SHOT 3- As a beat from the song kicks in we see Rogue turn her head towards the camera.

SHOT 4-Another beat kicks in and we see a close up of the preceding image of her break up as if she's being scanned.

SHOT 5-We see her in costume (no white streak in hair or yellow going down her costume) and she's turning in what seems to be a computer file. There's small wording on the side and a second goes by and you can see words come up that describe her powers.

SHOT 6-She now has the white streak in her hair but she looks like someone just punched her because we see her falling back rather quickly.

SHOT 7-Now you see a faraway image of someone floating down to a building. I think its Storm and the building is the X-mansion. There's others standing there. Its dark so you can't see much.

SHOT 8-Now you can see a clear shot of Storm with her hand raised. She brings her eyes down and we see a rather disturbing image (She has tight black clothes on, and she looks like she has no pupils).

SHOT 9-The camera does a close up of her face as we hear another beat from the song. She is being scanned on a computer and the computer says "VERY DANGEROUS" in bold.

SHOT 10-This shot shows her screaming at someone then we see a rather "normal clothed" toad jump in the air (his feet being extended were not his own but rather a very bad CG effect shot of him jumping in the air).

SHOT 11-Now we see a clear shot of Cyclops standing in an aggresive position shooting the beam from his eyes.

SHOT 12-Now he looks like hes in a cockpit and he is turning his head looking out through the window.

SHOT 13-He is now being scanned in the computer and he has a very strange but cool looking costume on. He looks a lot better with it on in the image than that sketch seen online. In bold letters on the side it says "controlled" leader.

SHOT 14-Now we Cyclops running up to a weakening Magneto with some others standing around.

SHOT 15-As a new beat kicks in we see an explosion than Mystique shooting something at the camera. There were very visible scales on her side and her skin was very cool.

SHOT 16-Now we see a woman who looks like, at first, Trinity from the Matrix, but the woman is now lowering her hands off her forhead and she clearly is not anyone from the Matrix. She must have just a "psi-scan" or some mind power.

SHOT 17-Now we see her in a room with civilian clothes on looking at someone then we see that someone is Cyclops.

SHOT 18-She too is now being scanned and it says "unblockable" powers.

SHOT 19-Now you can see a side-shot of her scanning someone and the camera very quickly pans to the side and you see magneto without his magnetic shield up struggling with something.

SHOT 20-This shot starts out by showing someone sitting on a stool with people behind him.

SHOT 21-Now you Hugh Jackman (aka WEAPON X) sitting at a bar and he looks up at something. He looks so friggin cool!!!!! He looks very pissed and resembles wolverine perfectly. I thought his hair from the comic wouldnt transcend well but he looks good.

SHOT 22-This angle is very unique. The image will stick in peoples minds once they see this trailer for the first time. You can see Wolvies back and he's crouching down (his costume looks all black and I didnt see any mask. This is a backshot though so not much can be seen) and we are looking up at a GIANT. This guy is laughing and is about to attack him. This guy is clearly Sabertooth. He is friggin crazy. At least 2-3 feet taller than Wolverine, easily.

So who did this prick swipe info from this time? It can't be any of the people who worked with him during the Countdown to Star Wars days, because we all woke up and split when we finally smelled the whiff of bullshit. I don't blame you Harry for throwing a link up to his site because I know most of your readers are dying to hear new X-Men info, but a bottom-feeder like Lincoln Gasking makes the honest and deserving webmasters like yourself look bad.

Ahhhh, the memories of good comics laid to waist in Hollywood such as the Punisher, Captain America, Batman & Robin (that pissed me off), Superman V (that realy pissed me off) and the list go's on. It's almost like people set out to make a bad movie based on iconic, pop culture figures.

    And now the X-Men.

Dragula was already in the Matrix, we don't need any more blatent ripoffs entering into this movie like all those fucking black leather suits. The only reason I will see this movie is because Wolverine and Ray Park are in it, and maybe because of the chicks in black leather suits.
Maybe we will at least get to see Wolverine amputate limbs from Sabertooth.

Granted the description is just vague and positive enough to make us imagine it being far better than it is, but damn if I'm not excited about the movie now! Anybody see that 30 minute X-Men animated special that Marvel made up years ago in what I suppose was a bid to get a full series going? The animation was sweet! Far better than the crap that made it into the actual series years later. I'd like to see that one get released on VHS or DVD so I can watch it again. My own copy disappeared years ago. How's the quote go? I'm the best at what I do.. and what I do isn't very nice.

Maybe Lincoln's description of the trailer is accurate, or maybe he's shoveling camel spit (far more nasty than camel shit, watch "Conan the Destroyer" again if you don't belive me). Whatever the case, it is fairly obvious that everyone with half a brain (or more) is really pumped about this movie. However, let's get one thing straight, and I really hope the folks at Fox get this through their thicker-than-adamantium skulls: WOLVERINE IS CANADIAN NOT AUSTRAILIAN!!! It was bad enough that they made him an Aussie in both "Spiderman and his Amazing Friends" & the old X-Men pilot. Let's not add insult to injury and do it again in the flesh. I've never seen or heard of Hugh Jackman before, but if he can't lose his "g'day mate" accent when in character, all us canuckle heads up here in the Great White North are gonna be like U.S. beer (mighty pissed).

I haven't read the opinion of the other talkbackers yet, so I don't know whether people agree with me. Also, I am not a comic book reader, and basically all my knowledge about the X-Men comes from reading this site. However, this is one trailer I want to see. It sounds pretty cool. The only thing that bothers me about it was the mention of Toad's legs as being bad CGI. If they have bad CGI, do not show it in the trailer. Do these marketing people not know anything? Bad CGI in trailer = movie I do not want to see. But it still sounds good, and I want to see this trailer. ***** http://vertigofilms.homestead.com/

    Very Cool...

    by acid_rain327

This trailer sounds cool, but just the fact that "Dragula" was used in the description makes me question it's authenticity. EVERYONE has compared EVERYTHING about this film to the Matrix, and even people involved with this film have been quoted as making references to it. So, why would they use a song so recently closely related to that particular film? It's funny though, I KNEW there was going to be some of Rob Zombie's works used in this film, and I think it would be cool as hell. Personally, for a trailer I'd use "More Human Than Human". I think it fits better, what do you all think? If they decide to use modern music for pieces of the soundtrack, I'd also like to see more prolific bands, with messages similar to those possible seen in the film. My favorite band, Rage Against The Machine comes to mind, but Wake Up is also fairly closely related to the Matrix now...anyway, I still say this flick is gonna kick ass! By the way, I was starting to wonder if I was the only person who knew what A.D. meant. I think you got the spelling right too =]

About the whole "Jack man is AUSTRALIAN!" crap...let me put it this way. Mel Gibson is also an Australian actor, and had you never seen or know about him before, would you know he was after having watched any of the Lethal Weapon series, or any other films he's done (other than Braveheart)? They can mimic or mask their accents just as well as anyone else on the planet, so what the hell does it matter what nationality he is? Are you looking for an over-blown Canadian accent, or a subtle, reasonable one?

    by niiiice

It just seemed like a bunch of quick shots of all the characters with nothing really happening at all. Oh well, it sure as hell can't be worse than the Battlefield Earth teaser. Anyone else catch that one? Anyway, anyone else think that "VERY DANGEROUS" is a pretty lame thing for a computer to be saying? Maybe "PROCEED WITH CAUTION" or something but "VERY DANGEROUS" sounds way too cheesy. I have a question, though. Why is there a trailer being released before there's a teaser? Or has the teaser already been in theaters? I also thought that Rogue would not be sporting her trademark white hair streak. Doesn't anyone remember the heated debates over how it would or wouldn't be "filmworthy" to adapt her white streak to film? Hmmm....curiouser and curiouser!

    Rogue's Streak...

    by acid_rain327

Niiice, there is an explanation for Rogue's hair streak, but it ties in closely with the resolution of the film, so I won't blurt it out. If you're interested, go to http://www.corona.bc.ca and check out the X-Men section. You'll have to look for it, and it does say what happens in the end of the film, how/if rogue obtains her streak.

It was the same song in the Mulan trailer and if u guys go to AMX theatres it is the temp track in the "AMC SAlUTES THE MOVIE CRAP" anyways they use that same ass track in every trailer that has like a epic thing going on, like explosions, a hillside or a chick being fucked by a dog in the ass with Julie Andrews in the background...okay maybe not that scene. You're right! I forgot about that...I remember I was starting to get into Gen-X when that special came out, and damn was it lame...it made no sense at all, and the villain was some over-the-top wannabe Jim Carrey played by "Mr. Thompson" from Honey I Shrunk The Kids. Anyway, I think Zombie's style and sound just fits with this project for some reason, and I hope he does contribute to the soundtrack in some way, along with a few other select artists/bands. I just hope they don't go overboard with it and end up with something like the soundtracks for Batman Forever/Batman and Robin. To keep up with current discussions, another piece WAY over used in trailers is the theme to Dragonheart, if you remember it. It's been used in countless trailers.

In case you care, that track was originally from 'Seven Years In Tibet', and was composed by John Williams. I personally think it's a great piece of music, and actually does convey a sense of epic things to come that is needed to sell a movie like 'Anna and the King' (although you couldn't pay me to sit through that 'movie')

He moved to Australia when he was about 10-12 years old so he lived there for a while. However, I doubt he'd develop a heavy Australian accent. It is noticable at times, but when he's in interviews you can slightly hear it. Besides, I don't think Jackman's accent is the most important thing its the performance which I think will be decent. Anna Paquin was born in Canada but was raised in New Zeland, how come no one ever complains about that? Stewart and McKellen have British accents yet no one complains about that. Its really not that important because what needs to be looked at more than anything is if the actors/actresses can pull off a performance. All the other stuff like hair color, accents, and height are just extra things and flexible. If they have it cool, if they don't its not the end of the world.

    Here's why we hate Lincoln...

    by dorante69

First off while he was in line in Los Angeles during the "Episode I" craze he got a bunch of people to buy posters for him and didn't pay them back. He sold frames from the trailer for a fortune. The Episode I line was organized to raise money for the Starlight Foundation, but it turns out that ol' Linc and countingdown.com kept about 70% of the money raised that was supposed to go to charity. Remember, those Park Wars trailers that Lincoln "created"? Well, he sure did take full credit for them when in reality he put about 0.001% input into them. Then he along with 2 other Countingdown alumnist took full credit for Park Wars in the Washington Post screwing over the real creators behind it. Hmm, need anymore reasons to not like this guy?

  • I'd prefer something a little more classic, thank you. I don't know...I've never seen the X-Men as being futuristic, even with all of the fancy gadgets and whacked-out powers. Only during that Age of Apocalypse crap. I also think that Magneto is ten times the villian Apocalypse is, only to be followed by Mr. Sinister. He should be the villian in the next film. They can do that whole Goblin Queen thing and let Famke play dual roles, that would be great...Anyway, back to the music...Rob Zombie's songs are fun, but I don't think they really lend anything to trailers other than making them look like glorfied music videos. If you're going for futuristic, I'd rather have something sort of BladeRunner-ish, like Vangelis. I know some of you (like Harry) are concerned about his work on Gladiators, but I urge you to check out El Greco.

    Lies about Lincoln

    by ruinedinaday

Amusing to read so many lies about one person -- I guess if you say something enough times, it acquires some truth, huh?

People who hate the guy with that much passion do so not because charitable monies to Starlight were stolen (they weren't -- ever notice that every check was made out directly to Starlight?), or because trailers weren't delivered, or posters or t-shirts not followed up on. The more human among us would chalk it up to organizational chaos and confusion, but no, the real reason these few hate Lincoln is because he got a lot of attention for what happened out there, and they just can't stand it. That's why when you call them on it, directly, there's silence.

Now some 8 months later -- yes, 8 my friends -- they go to war again when they see Lincoln's name up here once again. Please, people, it's the year 2000 -- make a New Year's resolution to give up the bitterness, discard the hate, stop the lies, and MOVE ON.

I can see forgiving Lincoln if this had happened once...then you could "chalk it up to organizational chaos", but to do this on several accounts, and to screw over so many people, is not worth my presence on the hit counter. If he's going to do all this, then he should take precautions and NOT let it happen repeatedly, as it has all ready. I'm not gonna bash the guy any further, but there are sites up with much better information, who actually care about their fans/those they help out through use of their site, such as charities, and don't do it just for self-promotion. Just look this site. After the Numb-Butt-a-Thon. Harry didn't misplace the money then, did he? Later

Known Facts About the X-Men Soundtrack

    by mycroft holmes

Sherlock Holmes' smarter brother here with a few tidbits about the X-Men soundtrack.

First of all, someone mentioned the fact that putting Rage Against the Machine songs into the soundtrack would date the movie... I agree completely. 10 years from now nobody will remember or care RATM or Rob Zombie (Ask yourself how many people over the age of 30 listen to those performers, and you'll agree with me). As for talk about music from The Matrix trailer, the only song I can remeber was 'Trip Like I Do' from The Crystal Method. The song in question did not appear in the movie itself, but you can hear it in just about every action movie trailer shown in the last two years. The only information I know about songs in the soundtrack is the following: Rumor has it that the British Techno composers Orbital (brothers Phil & Paul Hartnoll) have been asked to produce at least one song for the film. One of the compositions is titled "Weapon X". I am working on confirmation of this fact from sources I have close to the artists. If you are not familiar with Orbital's work, shame on you. You can sample their work by checking out the soundtrack to 'Event Horizon' that they did in collaboration with Michael Kamen. Their compositions have also been featured in soundtracks for the following films: The Saint, Hackers, Mortal Combat, Pi, and many others. It is my opinion that Orbital combines the wide cinematic scope, and hard driving techno pulse to produce a memorable addition to the soundtrack of the X-Men film.

  • Think about it. But don't flatter Lincoln by thinking his deceptions are ruining anyone's life. I wrote my response to this article without consulting anyone or looking to start a groundswell of Countdown-bashing (I actually still like the idea behind the Countdown site and have no malice toward yourself or Phillip), but look at what happened. Other people who feel the same way came out and said the same kind of thing. I can't say that I know anything about missing Starlight money, but I do know that Lincoln claimed authorship of the Park Wars trailers and that the laptop computer that Dell Computers supplied for the duration of the line (Lincoln himself told me it was to be returned when the line ended) suddenly went missing once the movie opened. I also know that Lincoln's disorganization (which is a word the fradulent like to use in their defense) created a huge amount of backlash against me when he volunteered me to take T-shirt orders from a hundred people who worked internationally on their own Countingdown lines, then stopped orders for anyone who wasn't in the line outside the Chinese theater two days before the moive opened (because by then, the hundreds of people there on line who couldn't stand him would have torn him to shreds, eh?). I haven't even mentioned the folks who donated their webspace and webcasting technology to the site only to pull it a week or so later because Lincoln's disorganization locked them out of their own line across town. Tim, I know you've been privy to the whole mess and you could probably tell me everything I've mentioned has a good excuse, but you could never tell me anything that would make me trust Lincoln Gasking again.

Point well taken but, can you honestly point to anything about Wolverine that is subtle? The whole point of Logan is that he is so extreme in every possible way (except his size). Besides, as I stated before, Wolverine was given an Aussie accent on 2 past occassions in cartoon versions. I'm just concerned that bad news travels in threes. And tell me you actually believe that the big studios haven't screwed up a character concept before? Punisher, Doctor Strange, Captain America TWICE!, Spiderman. The only one that wasn't a total flop was the Hulk, only because of the solid performances of Lou Ferrigno and Bill Bixby (may God rest his soul). Have you noticed that all the aforementioned characters were all from Marvel?

...X-Men in a high budget animated film. Take everything that was right in the animated series, make the animation on par with cinema-quality animation and get a good story going. Live action is good, but I'm sure animated would make you all spooge.

    by acid_rain327

You're right about the line of Marvel films being total flops. But, that's not reason to shun this film because its unrelated predecessors were unsuccessful. I mean no offense to anyone in saying this, but I'm tired of everyone basing this film on the failure of previous Marvel adaptations. There is a very talented crew and cast behind this flick, and I'm pretty certain it's gonna turn out great. Just because Marvel films made 10-20 years ago were awful, does NOT mean that a film being made now will also not be worth seeing. Open your minds, and make no judgement over this film until you actually see it. You can see pre-production work that doesn't make you jump out of your seat with awe, and then be blown away with the end product. About Wolverine, everything about him IS extreme: his rage, ferocity, his unrelenting stamina, his attitude, everything. I don't personally picture him with an extreme Canadian accent. After all, anyone who reads the comics well, knows that his origins are not certain, and It is not known if he even originated in Canada. It is pressumed. Besides, you yourself complained about an exaggerated Australian accent, how would you feel if Logan walked onto screen speaking as a stereotypical Canadian? (by the way, Canadians don't really talk like everyone makes them out to) So, which is worse?

    Music in trailers

    by mifan

To whoever it was who complained about the music in the X-Men trailer being recycled from "Matrix," this seems to happen quite often. I lost count of how many times bits of Randy Edelman's "Dragonheart" soundtrack were used in different trailers (including the Brad Pitt/Tibet film, which I thought a bit strange). I don't know how folks get around copyright and things like that to pull music from one film and put it in a trailer, but to me...who cares what music is used in the trailer for X-Men?? If it kicks and adds to the mood the trailer is trying to build, good! One last comment: I just hope that what we see in the trailer doesn't end up being the best this film has to offer. We've all seen this happen, haven't we?

    Logans accent...

    by cyclops-x

I just wanted to jump in here and say that when wolverine was originally created, he wasn't going to be canadian.. the actual reason was that the then x-editor had a thing for characters with accents, and bet the writer that he couldn't rewrite him with a canadian accent.. he subsequently lost the bet.

    Here's your confirmation, Kid

    by sardonicus

Yeah, it went like that, sort of. The big download Countingdown was promising was the South Park version of the TPM teaser trailer. Since it was supposed to be a surprise, it wasn't said what the download would be, but it was never supposed to be Trailer B. However, several sites (including this one at first) made the assumption that since Countingdown had been the first to post Trailer A back in November of 98, then this 'big download' must be Trailer B. That assumption, while understandable, was incorrect and a lot of people were pissed. Some fans may still hold that grudge (if they don't know what I just told you), but the issues most people in this talkback are raising have nothing to do with that. Hope that clears things up for you, Kid.

Retraction of statements made about Lincoln

    by dorante69

I am sorry for the statements I made about Lincoln higher up on this message board. Especially, the one about Countingdown taking 70% of the money meant to go to the Starlight Foundation. That statement was based on a rumor and not on hard evidence and I jumped the gun and made a statement with, to my knowledge, little or no truth behind it. For that I apologize to Lincoln and everyone at Countingdown.com.

    Dragula...

    by quest

The reason using Dragula in this particular trailer shouldn't be considered another rip off of the Matrix is because (assuming this trailer is using the original song) the Matrix featured that HORRIBLE HORRIBLE remix of Dragula that was just plain AWFUL. Dragula was one of the best songs of 98 and that remix ruined the song. Ug ::shudders::

    About Lincoln and the Trailer...

    by cyrus

Well it's interesting how sour Lincoln's rep has apparently gone. I must say though from personal experience that it is fairly justified. Remember the Trailer B/Park Wars fiasco? Well you probably know that Lincoln tends to act as if he had a great deal to do with the production of Park Wars and usually takes most all of the credit for it. I happen to know that 2 guys did *all* the work, and niether one of those dudes was Lincoln Gasking. I know this because one of the dudes who created Park Wars is a friend of mine who I go to school with. Ayaz Asif and Ted Bracewell are the guys who truly deserve credit for Park Wars. The only thing Lincoln did was host it and hog all the credit. I personally don't see how Lincoln could have better contacts than Harry or Garth and I'm not sure if I take this trailer description too seriously... Hopefully Harry will look further into this for confirmation.

As The Kid posted above, I too remember the "Lucasfilm made us stop" bit posted to their site, but it was quickly "replaced" with another update post, as if someone was having second thoughts. I've wished a zillion times since that I had a copy of that particular update. Anyway, I haven't been back to that site since, not because of cancelled t-shirt orders, or missing laptops, or misplaced funds, but because of that one freakin' "Park Wars" stunt. They knew exactly what they were doing & what it looked like they were getting ready to post (Trailer B). It was nothing more than a cheap-ass stunt to get attention. Yee-Haw!

    Sardonicus....

    by madmax66

Here's a little more info on why some folks just don't like Lincoln. One thing that he did which was NOT cool was set up a great BB/Chat Room for all the areas and pull the rug out from everyone... If it were not through the unsung folks like Sardonicus and Scott the webmaster to take it upon themselves to reestablish communication between everyone prior to that mess, a lot of folks who became friend would have been lost. It was not as if anyone was given any warning, it quite literally disappeared, and an appology saying the board will be back up soon was in its place. In fact, it's still there. That's basically my beef with Lincoln, something pretty cool was set up and then all of a sudden, "Bye, I'm done, I'm outta here". This pissed off ALOT of people who were left hanging...So I hope this fills folks in a little bit more why folks just don't like this guy, he's an opportunist who basically cut and ran.... To make a comparison, just imagine coming into AICN one day only to discover that the TALKBACK section disappered on you. No explanation, nothing. Some place where you looked forward going to, GONE. Then imagine someone like Glen or Father Geek, taking it upon themselves to pick up the pieces. Similar situation. If this happened to you, would you be pleased with Harry?....Anyhoo, I hope this bit of info sorts thing out for folks....Sardonicus,man it's weird seing you in a different context. Head back to the cantina and we'll see if we can do something about that fire :)......All seriousness, BTW, what's this about an X-MAN movie?

    Proof About Lincoln

    by hi-d

Nice try Tim--er, I mean ruinedinaday--but everyone saw complete evidence of what lying weasels you and your little buddy have been over and over again. Doesn't it seem odd that the only person out of hundreds of people who know Lincoln from the SW line who will defend him is his business partner? Ask anyone in the Star Wars line about what really went on when the cameras weren't rolling. How about the fact that the "missing" laptop was actually seen at the apartment Lincoln was staying at in Los Angeles? Or how about explaining how a writer they used on their site suddenly does a piece for the Washington Post crediting Park Wars to Lincoln, when he doesn't even have access to Trailer B and his name isn't listed anywhere on www.parkwars.com? Just speak to any one of the many people who left Countdown because of the horrible treatment, constant lies and money laundering schemes. Better yet, ask them about one of their former writers or a couple of the line people why their employers were contacted by Countdown in attempts to get them fired? These people are lower than dirt. There are countless decent people who only wanted to enjoy the spirit of Star Wars and put forth their time and money into a decent project and Countdown chose to take advantage of a situation.

    by the thing

Jimmy Ryalto's post at the top of the page had a great concept for the trailer - with Cyclops getting stoned in the bathroom at the prom, getting an itch in his eyes, and blowing a hole in the wall. Don't even let on what the trailer is for until the wall is blown to smithereens. Then you can have your obligitory quick cuts and Rob Zombie song and show the X-Men logo. I hope this movie doesn't blow. Nothing would ring in the new year better than a comic book film done right.

...that we love the X-Men because of the rich history that is established. The movie won't have iceman, Beast, or Angel(in other words 60% of the original team), not Nightcrawler,Gambit or Piotr Rasputin but will still be an introduction and have to be twisted to fit non comics fans as well as the die-hard fans. So when it doesn't live up to expectations don't give up on Spiderman before it even starts.

With much humility I regret posting the Lincoln / testicular metaphor. Some good has come out of it: I got the opportunity to hear Lincoln's side of the story regarding the message boards being removed - which was my only beef with him from the start. In the future, I will reserve the monkier of "big fat nutsac" only for members of All Male Pop Vocal Bands and/or Joel Schumacher.

Speaking of All Male Pop Vocal Bands, why didn't Singer just cast the Backstreet Boys as the X-men (adding in Britney Spears and that "Genie in a Bottle" bitch) and N'Sync as evil mutants. Vanilla Ice could have been Magneto, Eminem could have been Professor X, and we'd all be happy!!!

    re: Dragula

    by quest

I didn't say it was THE best song of 98, but, IMO, it was ONE of the best. It had a great vibe to it that was just plain fun to listen to, and by original version I referred to the version that appeared on "Hellbilly Deluxe" and NOT the remix featured in The Matrix. And in response to: "what else should one expect from disenfranchised, pseudo-nihilistic, black t-shirt wearing movie geeks that think speed metal and industrial music actually have "deeper meaning." ".
I DON'T fall into that category, I happen to enjoy rock, heavy metal and some techno, but I also enjoy classical film scores as well, in fact, film scores out number my "Band" CD's 2 to 1 if not more. I may find some deeper meaning in certain pieces more so than others, but that's an effect music has on the individual- what's "so-so" to one person may be inspirational to the next. I don't find deeper meaning in Dragula, (hey, Metallica maybe, but that's a different musical category all together) it was, like i said above, a very fun song.

Neither does anyone else. Zombie is the man at what he does - lightweight metal with lyrics about old-time horror-film ghouls and comic-book monsters. That`s it. He doesn`t aspire to any 'deep meaning', he totally understands what he`s doing. Be glad he doesn`t PRETEND to have 'deep meaning' (i.e. one Manson fellow).

    Lincoln Goes West

    by the anti-lincoln

Lincoln is Evil!! Pure, foul evil from the pits of hell.

Countingdown to SW was a complete disaster! But the lines who gathered together and met on his messageboards succeeded without him. (Hell, it wasn't really his messageboard anyway.) It was the true fans who were a success, even though this degenerate waste of human flesh - Lincoln - made all SW fans and SW websites look bad.

I mean befor TPM, this guy was a freek about TITANIC and would be in TITANIC chat rooms trying to pick up chicks with lines and acting out scenes from that movie ala cyber sex. He worshiped that piece of shit film by Cameron. But when SW started to pick up speed and buzz, he switched gears and was even known to blast TITANIC, and push for the whole TITANIC vs TPM grosses. What a hypocrit.

In the mean time, many many lines jumped ship and went solo in the weeks coming up to the TPM premiere.

You see, ol' Lincoln Gasking decided to give everyone in the US the finger, and turned his website into "Licoln Goes West". No more news updates about lines, no more support. Just "news" about Lincoln on the plane ("Hey here's a picture of me ugly mug sitting in the plane."), Licoln in LA. (Here's me, the first asshole in line for a movie i'm not even a real big fan of. I'm just a media whore sucking up my 15 minutes for all it's worth), Lincoln posing with stars. ("Hey Jake Lloyd, thanks for posing with me for MY website. By the way, can I borrow $10, I'm a broke moocher, and there's this skanky bitch whore across the street that I want to spend the night with.")

I mean we had to put up with articles that ended up making all "lines" look bad. I read a local article in a newspaper that talked how the "founder" of the LA line (yea right!) called an important first meeting in front of Mann's, only to not be seen when the meeting started because he saw Courtney Cox at some premeir and was trying to chase her down. I mean, this piece of slimy fecal matter, gave us all a bad name. I'm telling you the truth, I read this in a newspaper article.

Lincoln Gasking is pure garbage. And if you're reading this, you piece of shit asshole, I'm sure you're no longer welcome in this country.

And by the way, we want our name back. "Lincoln" is a good name. "Lincoln" was the greatest, most honorable President in the history of OUR country. You soil his name. GIVE IT BACK!

(Whew! I finally have closure. Now what's this about the XMEN trailer?)

    by johnvc3

"No, actually. I met with the people from the "X-Men" movie, but I couldn't [have done it] even if they would have given it to me. I told them ahead of time, I was like, "I'm not gonna be able to do it," because they said, "We need you for nine months if you get this." And I said, "Well, you can forget about it then, because I've got a Danzig tour, and we're just going to Europe in about a month from then, and then of course this [album], and the stuff we have planned into 2000." I don't think I would have been free until, like, April or May of 2000. Then I think it also included some kind of sequel, and they're gonna make Wolverine -- which was the part that I was gonna be getting suited for -- they're gonna make, I guess, solo movies, so the music comes first. I mean, if somebody offers me something that I have the time to do, then yeah, it'd be great. It'll probably just be bad guys and guest-star roles. I don't think it'll be any pseudo-lead stuff." -- Glenn Danzig

Totally OT, but am I the only person who thinks that Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" should be somewhere in the X-Men movie? I just think it goes well with the personality of the movie, which seems to be a mix of The Matrix, Batman (the first Burton one, not the Schumacher rapes), and the X-Files. Besides, it's such an X-Men song. Any other opinions?
