Paul Rudd's OUR IDIOT BROTHER gets a trailer!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here working through the holidays, as usual. A trailer for the really funny Paul Rudd vehicle OUR IDIOT BROTHER has hit. I predicted this flick would make a bazillion dollars when I saw it at Sundance, so let's see how close to the mark I end up!
Enjoy the trailer!
Oh, and...

Hurray!

This looks decent. I got a pretty good laugh out of the bit at the end where he slams the kid's fingers in the door. And really, Paul Rudd, fuckin' class act. I really don't think anybody can say what they say about guys like Michael Cera or Russell Brand, that Rudd "plays the same character in every movie". He's proven to be pretty damn versatile.
-
Paul Rudd is...a carrot. J/K, I'll see this on dvd.

i like Rudd, but it looks like this is his homage to 'The Dude'
by zom-bot.com
even so, that could be better than a lot of things.
-
At least with sound off, it looks just like that..
-
I hope what you saw at Sundance was better than that trailer.

Rudd looks fat. Finally, we have something in common!

The guy behind the fantastic Foo Fighters video "Big Me."
-
there arent enough good comedies that arent for morons - that bust in the trailer killed me - i can see that really happening to the right dealer
-
You, of course, realize the irony of this.
-
I'm in for the cuteness alone.
-
No thanks.
-
Yes, please!
-
And furthermore............. ZOOEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
eh.....I'll watch it on cable.
-
But I must quibble: that cop committed entrapment
-
Sorry, but that really didn't look particularly good. It's a "no"...not a even a rental.
-
On how religion is like Paul Rudd: I understand the appeal, but neither would I stand in line for it. I think Rudd's unfortunate association with Apatow killed any love I had for him (and I had a lot, starting with Clueless). Now I lump him in with the horror that are Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill, and he's been sullied by association with them. Bleh. If the lead in this movie had been played by someone like Owen "Teflon" Wilson or Joseph Gordon-Levitt, I would have seen it ASAP.

For more laughs they should have included the wheelchair rescue scene from Mac and Me!

yer only a week late with this. good job.
-
Paul Rudd is "so-so" playing the straight man in comedies, but he can NAIL playing the oddball("Wet Hot American Summer," "Anchorman," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," etc), so I'm interested in this. Good supporting cast, too. LOVE YOU ZOOEY, HEARTHEART XOXO. sorry. can't help it. yeah, there's a DEFINITE "Dude" vibe to Rudd's performance. i mean, for crying out loud, he's wearing Jellies! only the Dude can pull that off! but Paul Rudd echoing The Dude doesn't sound like a bad thing at all to me.
-
do they really think thats gonna get people to see it?
-
Well THAT trailer didn't do a thing for me. Seems formulaic.
-
This ELO hit of the 70's was in "Paul", and now the this trailer- which doesn't mean it's necessarily in the movie I suppose. Is this some kind of musical fashion thing?
-
I love him in I Love You, Man type roles, but he shines when he's doing out-there characters. I will say that one of my favorite Rudd scenes is in Wet Hot American Summer when he has to pick up the dishes he spilt.
-
perchance I am a bit thick tonight, but what is the irony? a double negative? "there are not enough comedies that are not for morons" makes sense to me.
-
I couldn't agree more. That single scene perfectly embodies how I act during 98% of my workdays. Paul Rudd is my hero in that movie. "I'm writing in my gournal. I write my thoughts in it every day."
-
What about the other 85?
-
ELO, probably my favorite '70s band, gets a tremendous amount of play in movies -- particularly in trailers. "Mr. Blue Sky" must have been in at least a half-dozen trailers, and "Don't Bring Me Down" has been used a lot, as you point out. I'm glad filmmakers -- or at least the people who cut trailers -- have love for ELO. Jeff Lynne must have a ton of dough thanks to them.

I hated Little Miss Sunshine and I don't even know who the fuck Emily Mortimer is
by Kammich
so, its certainly not any misplaced "indie sensibility" about this film that appeals to me. Quite simply, Rudd has a tendency to knock these characters out of the park, as I said in my previous post. not to mention, comedy is kind of a subjective taste, isn't it? don't get so damn worked up over other people's tastes, viggeo. you're going to put yourself into an early grave with all that anger. ;)
-
I didn't even come close to smiling, let alone laughing. I understand that you don't want to blow your load in the trailer, but that was pretty coma-inducing.
-
My irrational obsession with Philadelphia sports has shaved AT LEAST a good 7 or 8 years off of my life already, and I'm only 23. *sigh*... one of these days, I'll get an Eagles championship... one... of... these... days
-
My wallet will be drained anyways from all of the awesome movies coming this summer.

I don't know her very well myself.. but I BELIEVE she was in "Formula 51", aka "The 51st State" as a hired assassain tracking down Samuel L. Jackson.. actually not a bad flick.. not great.. but LOVED the opening. "I'm gonna be a pharmacologist.." Also I do KNOW for sure though.. she was in "Scream 3" as the new actress who was PICKED for the role of Sidney in "Stab 3". I thought she got off the single greatest character moment in the film.. when the END of the movie you think she's this innocent girl who just HAPPENED to win the role. and she turns it HARD.. then gets stabbed to death.. LOL. So.. JUST for the cast alone.. I'd go see this one.. I actually ENJOYED Little Miss Sunshine.. I am NOT a huge Carrell fan (enjoyed 40 Year Old Virgin.. and when he was on The Daily Show.. and of course Sunshine, he was a nice surprise.. ). But then again not a real shock.. all of the characters were great, especially the grandfather. So.. I'd give this a SHOT.. just based on those 2 factors.. and the fact that I think there MIGHT be a bit more to this movie than JUST what was in the trailer.. at least I hope so. It'd be a shame to waste GOOD actors on such a.. thin movie premise without giving it a bit of something extra.. you have the tools, put them to use.
-
he's either the straight man or trying way too hard to be cute. I suspect women are his biggest fans.
-
....You, Me and Dupree, (which I love). This trailer didn't make me laugh even once. I like Rudd, but believe he's better as a supporting actor.
-
Do I sound Jamaican?

GREAT - another lame 90minutes. Remember when comedies were funny?

Oh yeah, cause people actually SEEING a trailer is the last thing the company wants. LOL!!! Every time I think things are changing, it's 2003 all over again.
-
now he looks more like mine. Oops. Diet time.
-
look like I've eaten the same sandwich.
-
I can even forgive Rudd for the abomination that was Dinner For Schmucks. It is disappointing that David Wain sold out with Role Models, though.

So, is Rudd's character supposed to be the Geico Caveman or the Dude?
