Longtime J.J. Abrams associates Monica Breen and Alison Schapker have been hired by Abrams to write a Paramount movie provisionally titled “Zanbato,” said to be a period actioner about sword-wielding Japanese robots.
The duo have worked with Abrams on “Alias,” “Lost,” “Fringe” and the pilot script for “Pulp,” a crime drama said to be evocative of “Pulp Fiction.”
The name of Abrams’ production company is Bad Robot.
While Abrams is attached to produce a zillion in-development movie projects, few have yet gone into production. “Cloverfield,” “Morning Glory” and “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” are the most recent he produced without directing.
