Merrick here...

Several folks wrote in to call our attention to this, which we appreciate, so we thought we'd pass the info onto you.

Not surprisingly, Linkin Park, who had songs prominently featured in then previous two TRANSFORMERS films, will find their song "Iridescent" heavily utilized in DARK OF THE MOON - the third live-action TRANSFORMERS opus due on screens early July.

The group's OFFICIAL SITE posted this video on the matter, which includes some thoughts on Linkin Park's inclusion from returning score composer Steve Jablonsky.  Take a look...

Here's an embed of the complete song...

I don't mind the Linkin Park songs

    by CrusherJen

I'm not a fan, but their contributions to the Transformers saga are some of their better work. I prefer "New Divide" or "What I've Done" to "Iridescent," and "21 Guns" wasn't bad. At least the songs are far better than the crapsack movies they're featured in, IMHO.

    Did Zack Snyder direct this?

  • 'Ya Know what I'm Talkin' bout, Detroit?" Crowd strangely silent. "I'm talkin' a little Transformers, people!" The small crowd of 10 -12 year oldsdressed in Hot Topic gear and ironic T-shirts stare back blankly. "Common Peeps, lets give it up for.... DARK SIDE OF THE FUCKIN' MOOOOOOOOOON!!!!" As the words echo out down the empty cooridors of the mall, the only sound heard is that of small birds chirping in parking lot outside as they search for any edible tidbits they can find . Lead screamer of said band notices that parents are quietly picking up their kids whilst those still left seem to be engaged in a deep conversation as to the cost/benifit ratio of nipple peircing. "We suck." the drummer states flatly from the back of the stage. "Yeah." replies scremo dude, defeated at last. "We suck major cawk."

  • Oh, and they are the WORST kind of commercialized rap-rock bullshit there is right now. Only Limp Bizkit was worse.

  • April 19, 2011, 3:34 p.m. CST

Linkin Park is a really terrible name for a band.

    by frank

Is it supposed to sound cool? Did they realize that naming their band after a park was kind of effeminate, and then decided that misspelling the name would make them seem like hard rockers or something? They were part of the first wave of new bands to form after the 80’s/90’s American post-punk movement fizzled out. This marks the point at which American rock music officially died. British rock managed to hold on until the early 00’s, finally passing away after the release of Radiohead’s Kid A. I would feel bad for today’s high school kids, except that I hate them and also am jealous of them for non music-related reasons.

    by CeejayNightwing

Can't let go of that old childhood and still thinking the cheesy cartoon was great. I'd love to visit your universe where Transformers was ever anything but a toy commercial with silly motor vehicle orientated jokes and square looking robots that never managed to do any harm to each other for two seasons until Hasbro decided to advertise new toys and scrap the old ones with a Movie where if you blinked, your favourite character died! As dumb as the film was, you guys cherish something even dumber and worse still you're delusional in how proud you are of it! lol! I'd happily watch the shite movies over the cartoons every day of the week simply becasue the films have hot babes and great action CGI while the cartoons are purely for small children and fanboys who are unable to grow up!

What year are most of you whiners living in?

    by Lance2769

Have you naysayers on here been sleeping for the past 12 years? You whine, cry and rant like babies about the choice of Linkin Park and crack really lame jokes about what year this... This is what year/decade it is...Linkin Park has for the past 12 years, dominated the Alternative Rock charts on EVERY major rock radio station in cities across the U.S. and have been nominated and won various awards since their Hybrid Theory debut album. Their last album dropped in Sept and already this year alone, are nominated for the Billboards Awards for: Top Duo/Group Best Rock Album Top Rock Artist Top Alternative Artist Top Alternative Song: "Waiting For The End" Top Alternative Album: "A Thousand Suns" They also had 2 # 1 hits off this new album: "The Catalyst", last year and "Waiting For the End" early this year. And who knows where "Iridescent" may land on the charts when it starts playing the airwaves. You may not like their music, their new style or even them as a group but that doesn't change the facts above and the fact that a lot of you whiners are oblivious to their decade of dominance in the music scene. Insults to me for posting this comment or insults to Linkin Park won't change that "facts are facts" whether you listen to them or not! So I ask you; what year is this? The same as is has been the last 12 years in the Alternative Rock music scene = the year of Linkin Park; which is why Michael Bay was smart enough in choosing to collaborate with them for the third time.

    by bubcus

I hate it when people rip on girls over their appearance but the one shot of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in this promo video makes her look like a freaking suction cup. It's like someone punched her in the nose and she's about to attack someone with her mouth. I was so against her casting on this. She comes in with NO acting experience and is a Victoria's Secret model who likely got the role because of some decision in Michael Bay's pants. So done with this franchise. Sat and watched the animated Transformers Movie to remind myself why I loved these robots in the first place. I'm going to go crawl in a corner now but before I do, I will say that I LIKE the new "Iridescent" song. Sounds great. Good job, Linkin Park.

    by Lance2769

Arguably the best two decades in American Cinema history (70's/80's) that produced the likes of Scorsese, Spielberg, Coppola, Lucas, Casavettes, De Palma and others...I too like my classic films of that time period, however those that are knocking on Linkin Park can't stand on an argument of "relevance" when at this very moment, you can dial in on any "relevant" radio station around this country, be it rock, pop or rap stations and hear one of three current Linkin Park songs; Waiting For the End, The Catalyst or Wretches and Kings. You can't stand on an argument of "relevance" when one of the greatest rappers, Jay-Z chose Linkin Park to collaborate with out of all the rock bands he could have chosen..or when Paul Mc Cartney did 3 years ago..or when Busta Rhymes did 2 years ago..or when the legendary Carlos Santana did 2 months ago..or when Activision did for the new Call Of Duty Black Ops videogame trailer last year...or how Michael Bay has for 3 movies now...should I continue? So again, I ask those that use fact-less insults...where have you been lately..better yet...what have YOU done lately? Think Linkin Park is too "weepy" on "Iridescent" ? ..well every band or solo musician has a "weepy" song or two in their repetoire...but here's a taste of something a little more hard: P.S - Nope don't work or Clear Channel

    by OnO

I love these little videos of all these professional Hollywood insiders saying how they were going to make it a rescue mission and it's more serious. Bay came away from TF2 and wanted to do better. "3D is the new toy, C'mon Bay" says the far more successful director. So now the robots you really don't give a shit about blow up even better and it's all in your face. Oh and by the way... here's Turturro's ass again in 3D, just incase you missed it the first and second time. SURPRISE! Everything so far to date beyond the box office intake proves the Haters were right about TF2 and this series underlining failures altogether. Sure the bottom line rules but it's funny when the Director has to say how he knows he fucked up on the last one. Robo Balls! How could I take my kids to watch that crap. I still won't buy the DVD and I can find it for 1.99 and I still pass it over. You think it's really going to be different on the 3rd one? The teaser trailer looks like the last two movies crammed into one. C'mon wake up it's the same thing. Cue Linkin Park and their fan favorite song. Our marketing says this song appeals to the large demographic of teenage girls. LOL. Should've picked Robot Boy if you really have to have Linkin Park as the trailer music about robots and a emo Shia Lebeouf and his relationship problems. It's sad I should be pumped for this movie's opening day, but right now I'm just ready for it to finally be over. Please let it be over?

like a true phenomenon." What the fuck is he talking about? Youtube produces a phenom every other hour. We live in a world that is all about eroding of power and meaning in words like phenomenon and epic. And, oh no, here come the Tool fans. I can't tell what's worse, the people who hang off Maynard's sack or the people who complain incessantly about the 'younger' generations without really even thinking about it. I don't like a lot of new music either but to write off an entire generation because of it is just ignorant and, frankly, just plain curmudgeony. Parents didn't like Elvis or KISS or Slayer either and look how those guys wrecked their generations...
