Hey folks, Harry here...
I managed to just get home in time to catch this from the beginning. Realized I could embed it, so now I'm chiming in. It started off with a lot of production art - and footage from the film. This is a completely new take on the property, PLANET OF THE APES. The idea of starting from the beginning, and that beginning not being an astronaut's journey, but beginning with APE 1 - and going through the initial tumble of human society. That's awesome.
So far, most of the talk has been very technical, about the sort of rigs, the AVATAR tech and - WOW that new CAESAR shot with the can was pretty damn killer looking. Now Andy Serkis is on talking about creating CAESAR... Andy has vintage Peter Jackson hair right now. Very Hobbity looking.
Andy is currently recording the ADR and making his own Chimp noises. Basing his performance on the "real humanzee" from the 1960's and 70's. The shot of all the apes atop that building, and the one chimp screaming on the escalator - is killer...
Tomorrow on Apple we'll be the premiere of the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES trailer! They teased some of the trailer footage and it looks pretty damn interesting.
