A Few More Pics From The FRIGHT NIGHT Remake!!

Published at: April 8, 2011, 1:55 p.m. CST by merrick

Merrick here...

A few days ago we got a look at stills from the forthcoming FRIGHT NIGHT remake (details HERE).

Empire now has a few more pictures. All of them are character based, not particularly revealing, and none of them present David Tennant as Peter Vincent - a role brilliantly originated by Roddy McDowall (although we've previously seen indications of Tennant's unexpected appearance HERE and HERE).

Click on this image of Colin Farrell as Jerry Dandridge - the vampire next door - played by Chris Sarandon in Tom Holland's 1985 original to see more and EMBIGGENABLE pics.

    well...

    by dznutzforu

We obviously can't stop the rush of remakes and I for one think this one might be ok. I watched the other one recently and it didn't hold up that good. His little, weirdo friend kept annoying the piss out of me. I like the Colin, too, Bullseye made Daredevil somewhat cool.

  • April 8, 2011, 2:02 p.m. CST

    All right! A vampire movie!

    And a remake, no less!

    by WINONA_RYDERS_PUSSY_JUICE

Wow.. really? It doesn't hold. Sorry you feel that way. I think it actually does. Chris Sarandon is scary as all hell. My favorite role of his. I still think It's an awesome film. ...I'm betting it's because of people like you, we are getting these cheap remakes.

There are practically NO Americans in this movie...

    by Ronald Raygun

Except for McLovin, but I think even he's Canadian isn't he? Not that it bothers me, but I don't recall this many Europeans trying to pass as Americans in one movie before.

  • April 8, 2011, 2:23 p.m. CST

Fright Night wasn't that great, maybe a remake would be OK

but yeah Evil Ed is pretty irritating in the original. No one does sexy in knitwear like Chris Sarandon though!

Batman Begins, maybe? Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Cillian Murphy, Tom Wilkinson, and Rutger Hauer all passing for American, joined by Liam Neeson and Michael Caine as foreigners. Also Ken Watanabe, though he's not European. Katie Holmes and Morgan Freeman are like the entire American contingent of that principle cast.

  • April 8, 2011, 3:05 p.m. CST

    Chris Sarandon

    by Miss 45

His vampire was awesome...scary, sexy and sinister. Colin Farrell just looks like a smug douche.

  • Could work. We'll see.

  • April 8, 2011, 3:08 p.m. CST

    McLovin is in this movie?!

    by Dr. Egon Spengler

How can anyone take this movie serious?

    It's weird but . . .

    by Olsen Twins_Fan

I'm kind've looking forward to this. My love of the original has been rekindled watching William Ragsdale on Justified.

  • April 8, 2011, 6:40 p.m. CST

    William Ragsdale's on Justified???

    by Huey_Freemans_afro

No shit! I wondered what happened to him. I'm not ashamed to say I was also a fan of Herman's Head.

  • April 8, 2011, 6:44 p.m. CST

What made Fright Night great was the horrific vampire make-up.

    by Huey_Freemans_afro

Nothing sexy about the faces they made. They'll probably CG it for this one. Oh wait, it's PG-13 so they'll probably reign it in. FUCK that pisses me off!

  • April 8, 2011, 7:27 p.m. CST

    These photos have no gravitas

    by Bobo_Vision

And the color scheme sucks. Way too much blue.

  • April 8, 2011, 7:33 p.m. CST

    Imogen Poots

    by Green

I know I'm not the first to say this, but this actress really needs to change her last name. I look at that beautiful face and am taken, but when I hear "poots" I can only think of feminine flatulence.

  • April 8, 2011, 7:43 p.m. CST

"You have to have faith for that to work."

    by Henry Fool

However, I must admit this is one remake that has been really well cast. I'm still concerned about the change in Peter Vincent. The original film's conceit, that Peter Vincent pretended to actually believe in the existence of dark forces while, in fact, believing them to be nonsense has to be elevated into the current film. I guess the new idea is that Peter Vincent is a magician who claims to have psychic abilities that are actually a sham. David Tennant is a good choice for the role.

  • April 8, 2011, 8:12 p.m. CST

Looks even worse than those Platinum Dunes remakes.

    by JackPumpkinhead

Or is this shit one of them, too?

  • April 8, 2011, 8:13 p.m. CST

Magician/occultist does kinda make more sense.

    by Huey_Freemans_afro

Good points again, Henry Fool! I can agree with Peter Vincent's occupation change only because a high school kid would have to be a total moron to believe a guy who kills vampires in movies can kill them in real life. A magician/occultist type is a more of a charlatan who some people are actually fool enough to believe.

  • April 8, 2011, 10:56 p.m. CST

No, papa cavedweller, Colin Ferrell is 5'10"...

    by schizoschizo

    ...it's your waist-size that's 5'2".

  • April 9, 2011, 12:22 a.m. CST

Screen Gems...boldly going where everyone's already gone before

    by gaygoonie

what a lame studio. all they do is PG-13 remakes of '80s and '90s movies. they might actually hit a homerun if they ever took a chance on something fresh instead of hitting lame singles on rehashed bullshit.

Herman's Head was solid. I liked it quite a bit more than Married With Children.

  • April 9, 2011, 2:08 a.m. CST

Herman’s head had the voice of Lisa Simpson.

    by frank

  • hehe

  • April 9, 2011, 8:20 a.m. CST

Absolute shit. And I'm trying not to be negative.

    by Hint_of_Smegma

But come on!! This is Dandridge? FFS. Black contact lenses, ooooh look he's a scary vampire. Bollocks. Sarandon outclasses this numpty whenever he pinches off a loaf. Let alone in the acting stakes. This remake was fucked from the moment they gave writing duties to Noxon, but hiring Plasse and worst of all Tennant and frigging Farrell was just saying "Let there be no mistake. We, the producers, do not give a shit about this film. Pay your ticket money, be disappointed, and fuck off." this is going to be an absolute disgrace of a film and while normally I don;t care too much about remakes - we've always got the original after all - this disrespectful abomination is really, really pissing me off. Fright Night was one of the best films of the eighties, a true classic, and this is a ridiculously bad way to revive the story for the noughties.

  • April 9, 2011, 8:44 a.m. CST

wow, a picture of colin farrell, amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Who plays Dandridges daykeeper?

    by Tikidonkeypunch

  • April 9, 2011, 10:06 a.m. CST

Judging from imdb....looks like he doesn't have a daykeeper

    by Bobo_Vision

That sucks. That means one less baddie to defeat in the film. I also question how good the make-up and special effects will be in the film. I suspect we'll get some CGI, and vampires more similar to Twilight than the original Dandridge.

  • April 10, 2011, 8:17 a.m. CST

    Give it a chance.

    by Darkman

I'm no defender of horror remakes (there have been maybe a few really good ones), but at least these people are trying.

Dreamworks is putting the film out (yeah, weird). I read the script a while back. Pretty good and gruesome; they'd be retarded to shoot for a PG-13.

  • April 10, 2011, 9:23 a.m. CST
