Pittsburgh IS Gotham City! THE DARK KNIGHT RISES To Film There!
Nordling here.
I thought Chicago served as a terrific surrogate Gotham, especially in the truck chase. I've never been to Pittsburgh, so I don't know how it looks in comparison, but apparently it impressed Christopher Nolan sufficiently to decide to film the final chapter of his Batman saga there, according to the Pittsburgh Film Office. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl proclaimed, "We are thrilled to be welcoming the Batman film to Pittsburgh, and eager for the economic impact that our city will experience. This is another example of the growing film industry in our community, and we will be rolling out the red carpet for them."
According to the master of ceremonies himself, Christopher Nolan: "Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. We have been able to find everything we were looking for here, and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman." Thanks to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for the info.
So obviously Terry Bradshaw IS Deadshot, right? Okay, I got nothing.
Nordling, out.

Except those who live there and a few others who might recognize key landmarks. Good for Pittsburgh. I live in the Milwaukee area, and every time a big Hollywood film has come to town, there's always a considerable buzz; it's good for the economics.
-
Badass capital of the world, motherfuckers!

You gotta get here, if only to tour Monroeville Mall

Agreed, or infact the mighty metropolis of Moss Bank. or the majestic Regina, sitting on the shores of the awesome wascana Lake

Tax breaks? Thats the only way i see anybody going to that cesspool. Either way, not good news. Chicago brought a reality and grounding to TDK that the Gotham City in Batman Begins sorely missed. Now they're headed to some third-rate town out in Pennsylvania? Horrible news.
-
As of today, they're in the pennant race.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason for the shift from Chicago... They're gonna lose some heavy manufacturing in that state as well.

Bayonne is the hometown of Batman movie producers Charles Roven and Michael Uslan.
-
Exactly. I am SO pissed that the next Batman sequel is not shooting here in Chicago. I had a chance to go try out to be an extra for TDK in 2007 but my damn ex wasn't having it. It would have been nice to possibly be an extra in this film!
-
Any script that depicts the state in a bad light is denied tax credits, thus scaring off filmmmakers like Nolan. There is a Bat Cave already built for him under the Congress Avenue Bridge.
-
When I've watched movies, it's really difficult to see the city per se at all and typically I don't recognize the city that much. I mean pretty much i couldn't tell that the last film was filmed in Chicago. I've not been to Chicago so I don't recognize landmarks as well. I mean when 'Love& other drugs' was filmed in Pittsburgh, could you tell? I could care less where it's filmed as long as the story and directing is on target. The Dark Knight could've been filmed in LA for all I cared and i think heath ledger still would've done a bang up job.
-
Now to see if i can get some work on this film, would be awesome to be in the film credits.

Crowe movie which I didn't see, and . . . can't think of any other Pittsburgh based movies. Though, yes, this movie will be set in Gotham. Still, Gotham looked a heckuva lot like Chicago in the Dark Knight. Down to the slightly altered license plates!
-
I'm happy to see a different side of Gotham City than the one we got in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Pittsburgh is a very scenic city given the fact it's known for the steel industry. I'm hoping it's a great stand-in for Gotham, as now Chicago is going to be a stand-in for Metropolis. (If that isn't going to confuse things enough.) If it was good enough for Romero, it's good enough for Nolan.

MARVEL's retro-fitting of the comics and the Ultimates is being filmed in my hometown. Yeah, It will bring serious bank to the city and theaters, but I'm tiring from the continuity-shitty films MARVEL has been putting out starting with the casting of Duncan as Kingpin and Jackson as Nick Fury. Mind you, they are both fine actors and I love'em to death...I feel that MARVEL shit on it's fanbase by stunt casting these fellas and didn't stick to the comics.

Pretty dumb actually. For the last four years, Chicago HAS BEEN Gotham.
by elgato73
I wonder if the Chicago Film Office wanted too much damn money or if Nolan was pissed at them for denying him locations. Would not surprise me. Chicago is one fucked up city. That's why it was perfect for Gotham.
-
I can see it already. Batman and Gordon try to take down the inner corruption of the NFL front offices after Roger Goodell fines James Harrison again. Gotham has an uprising after the city goes into a full-on riot after the Pirates extend their consecutive losing seasons streak to 148. Posters claiming "We Believe in Bobby Bonilla" are defaced all over the city. Batman gets into a face-to-face altercation with the Penguin, played by Sidney Crosby, before he realizes that Crosby is a giant flaming pussy and its not worth his time. And then the trilogy ends with Bruce binging on Primanti brothers sandwiches and going into cardiac arrest.
-
I think the question should be, "Why aren't there more Delaware jokes?"
-
Is a pretty neat city. It has a good mix of old and new, including some pretty rad gothic churches. I'd love to see the Bats standing on one of the spires of the PPG tower.

Pittsburgh / Western Pa. has had many films or portions of films shot here throughout the years. Among my favorites is Innocent Blood which was shot back in the early 90's. A fun vampire / mobster romp that was really pretty enjoyable to watch. No particular order (and I will admit that some of the films are far from fantastic, but that is not necessarily the fault of the location now, is it?) some of the films that were at least shot partially here are: Silence of the Lambs The Road She's Out Of Your League Zack and Miri Make a Porno Adventureland The Mothman Prophecies Wonderboys Dogma Kingpin Hoffa Lorenzo's Oil The Dark Half Gung Ho Some bits of Robocop were filmed there as well. That's off the top of my head, I'm not sure of what others there may be. I'm purposely trying to forget Striking Distance as that movie still makes my head hurt just trying to make sense of the car chases, let alone the ridiculous plot. Yes folks those tug boats that push the barges on the rivers always have to be on the look out for those armed gunmen just arbitrarily showing up out of nowhere to rob them. Rob them of what, I still have no idea. ~sigh~

Are we gonna get a rebuilt Wayne mansion and Bat Cave?
by scriptgirl_nipples
-
You especially Tailhook. What, you afraid Pittsburgh can't match that great "Wayne Enterprises" building they showed for 3 seconds in Dark Knight? Is it that the street the Batpod drove on is so special? Can't crash a Lamborghini anywhere but in Chicago? Worse than ignorant....a rube. Pittsburgh will serve Nolan and Co. to a T. It has all the architectural and location requirements of any other city at a fraction of the cost. Dollar for dollar, frame for frame a bargain.
-
I can see a precarious bridge fight sequence happening, but locally the news media (yes, we still have bleach blondes) indicated that the production is coming here due to the number of tunnels available to film in. Downtown Pittsburgh pretty much looks like a smaller Chicago but with more twisty turns and hills, so I'd say the spectacular chase scene is shaping up.
-
I am from NY and live in Pittsburgh now and I will tell all you trolls that it really will make a great Gotham. It definitely won't work for long shots of the city but anything up close and Nolan will have a ton to work with. There is so much gothic architecture here that would fit right in to a Batman movie (google Cathedral of Learning and look at the indoor pics). Also for Jay Baruchel to Jake Gyllenhaal to Russell Crowe, the vast majority of people that make movies here seem to love it (Sienna Miller being the exception). Can't wait to see them filming here and I guarantee you it looks great on film.

Chicago was great for Gotham. After two films here, it's mystifying why he would suddenly move to Pittsburgh. Do they have the lower Wacker Dr. type of infrastructure that was featured so well in both movies? I find it odd. Chicago must've really done something off to get Nolan to pick up and leave.

Been there a couple of times for work and to go to sporting events. The streets are always empty. It's a bleak depressing ass city which works well for Gotham. Also don't call Pittsburgh the city of Champions when that city has the worst franchise of all time: The Pirates. 18 straight losing seasons is the worst of any franchise ever. So I think city of Champions goes to N.Y. You know the place that has that baseball team that has over twenty championships? It's nice seeing studios picking kind of down and out American cities like Cleveland(Avengers) and now Pittsburgh instead of Canada.

Aside from the knee-jerk assumptions, it's a gothic looking, epic downtown. Just don't leave downtown....you will never be heard from again. I like Pittsburg, it's a cool town, but it's a cookie cutter re-vitalize project without character. Baltimore would have looked nice too.

Guess the huge incentives offered by New Mexico weren't enough to convince Nolan to shoot in a town that looks absolutely nothing like Gotham and, beyond its stunning history, is a real hole. Construction projects in the Loop blocked DKR filming, simple as that
by gruntybear
The (mostly) vacant lot at approximately Franklin and Washington that both "Dark Knight" and "Transformers 3" used for parking film trailers, lighting rigs, equipment and various props is now unusable due to a huge construction project that blocks Washington and crosses over Wacker. In other words, the simple reason for limited DKR filming in Chicago this summer is logistics. The usual Loop locations for such filming are already hopelessly clogged with construction crews who mostly must work at night to avoid daytime commuter/work crowds. Unless the production moved back towards the Chicago River, it would be exceedingly difficult to try to work a tight film shooting schedule around the unpredictable nature of the giant repair work that's occurring in and around Washington and Wacker. Not to mention the problems of noise bleed for audio. That's the cold, hard truth. Nothing more interesting than that.
-

Nothing but raping faggot hillbillies and the douche bag rust covered shit hovels they call homes. I've never seen a shittier looking city and I've been to fucking Cleveland. I guess they really want the run down, desolate sewage covered look on this one.
-
don't know how long it's going to take them to fix it, but it definitely puts a damper on any filming. To me, the Batmobile chase in BB was more iconic of Chicago, since it was all about the Lower Wacker Drive, including the bridge they used to cut off the narrows. Pittsburgh is actually a really good choice, as many have said, because of the crazy amounts of gothic architecture. The one thing about all the Chicago filming was that the city was just a bit too clean - even with Bruce Wayne in a high rise. I miss the mansion and the batcave and the buildings with more character.

I'm from Chicago and loved that I was able to go to all those locations when I lived there. The aged look of downtown's metal and brick structures fit the tone well. That being said, I've never been to Pittsburg, so I don't know the differences. And I trust Nolan implicitly.
-
I live in Pittsburgh and have no doubt the city has what it takes to be Gotham. And I predict the city is going to really embrace the film, like more than the general 'cool movie is filming in my town, woohoo' enthusiasm. Gonna see a lot of shirts in the Strip District with a Batman & Steelers logo.

Trust me, I hear the "no Lombardi trophy" thing every single day. My brother-in-law is a Cowboys fan. ;) But, for the time being(essentially through this bullshit lockout), I'll just say "what have you done for me lately?" Yes, you and all of Cowboys nation can kiss our 2010 NFC East division championship. Until, when and IF, the 2011 season kicks off... I'll be happy to hold that over everyone elses heads. And while I only played (less than) one year of organized high school football, I'll stake a claim in this argument... I've been a commisioned sports writer for nearly 5 years now, and have had articles published on numerous websites like www.draftcountdown.com, www.walterfootball.com, and even had Mel Kiper himself cite one of my articles on ESPN.com after I lauded then-unknown Marques Colston prior to the 2006 NFL Draft. I'd consider myself more of a sports nerd than even a movie nerd, and thats saying something.

I understand that this is a movie website, so I'll stop hijacking this thread and let the conversation flow back to the filmic topic at hand. Gotta hit the shit, anyway.

Nolan showed complete disregard for visual continuity between BB and TDK. Why would he start now? That was one of my biggest disappointments with TDK. I liked the world he created in BB, but he decided to abandon it entirely in favor of being more "realistic." It's a comic book movie, idiot. Shooting in Pittsburgh just further cements his reputation as being a "big picture" guy that doesn't always get the small things that most viewers appreciate.
-
I want Doc Jensen from EW to publish a book featuring every single one of his write-ups for every episode going back to the beginning. He caught a LOT of stuff each week- references and allusions to classic literature, mythology, psychology, music, history, etc- and had some intelligent theories that constantly evolved in light of new revelations. I remember one of his ideas from Season 1 actually turned out to be somewhat true. Anyhoo, that'd make a great book, chronicling the evolution of the show and our expectations/ideas of what it was all about, and how that got smaller and smaller as the show progressed. My book will come out a week after.
-
It's got that Gotham look.

And let me be clear for other folk: RR Martin being pissed at how Lost ends is not free reign for you assholes to start picking apart all the shit you've been over before like its fact now. Your letting dullard cunt troll Braindrain pawn you lot

See these right here? These are my balls. Suck 'em. Chicago=Gotham City. I'm thinking about preparing a Hitler rank video about this injustice.

Stuffed on top of the burger, underneath the bun. "WTF is this shit????" he screams, then trashes the joint before being raped by several Pittsburgh Steelers. Plot twist.

Hey 8'tallgopher! We all know Gotham of the Prairies is...
by tangcameo
...Saskatoon! Trust me, I've been out there at 3am. Lots of guys running around in leather and rubber masks, driving really REALLY big vehicles like they're trying to compensate for something they're lacking. Saskatoon is Gotham. Regina is Metropolis. Moose Jaw is Hub City (irony!).

There are penguins in Pittsburgh after all.

I'm thinking that this has to do with tax breaks than anything else.
by Orbots Commander
I've read the State of Illinois hiked tax rates for film production (and other businesses). Nolan and WB probably looked at the numbers and figured they'd just find a decent alternative for a crime ridden city, ergo, Pittsburgh, which likely offered a bunch of tax incentives for the production.
-
...AND YOU MOTHERFUCKING PRAWNS KNOW IT!!!!!!
-
Okay. Happy filming!

Decent people shouldn't live here...they'd be happier someplace else.
by Shannon Nutt
Hey, I live in Pittsburgh and work in the heart of the city...perhaps I can become AICN's official reporter? It's no secret, Warners is coming here because of the great tax break film companies get for shooting in the state (which our governor just extended - over some silly protests, I might add). He was smart enough to know that filming THE DARK KNIGHT RISES here would bring a lot of attention/economic boost to the area. For those of you who aren't aware, other films shot in and around Pittsburgh include: The Silence of the Lambs The Deer Hunter Wonder Boys Hoffa There's even one scene in THE DARK KNIGHT that was shot here (Harvey Dent's press conference where he says he's Batman) - but most don't know that Nolan snuck in here and shot that scene. So Pittsburgh is no stranger to Chris Nolan.
-
It's not like Warners doesn't have the money to spend and help out an area that badly needs the income and a moral boost. I guess it's a lot to expect Hollywood to walk the walk when it comes to showing altruism. Maybe it's enough for them to lecture America to do it while wearing a $20K dress and a million worth of accessories.
-
Stop by Priimanti Bros for a Sangwich!
-
when it was supposed to be Pittsburgh. As much as I hate Detroit's sports teams, I feel really f'ing bad for everything that has happened there so they could use a movie coming in and filming there. But Pittsburgh? Screw them and their pierogis!
-
Pittsburgh is a beautiful city for filming! It will work well for any backdrop, especially Gotham! I'm based in Cleveland, but happy to work in Pittsburgh! :)
-
To be filling in for Gotham city.
-
Dude you're spot on about E STL. Maybe they'll film a scene where Green Arrow takes Black Canary to Hustler Club for amateur night. :-D
-
Michael Keaton could make an appearance and have a battle of the Batmen!

Interesting Shannonnut..didn't know that, I wonder why Nolan choose to shoot one scene in Pittsburgh.....
by MRJONZ72
that could had been shot anywhere in Chicago, has to be a reason. Anyway I might have to come visit. Im not to far from there and I have loads of family in Pittsburgh and Coraopolis.
-
I always go there for skanky ho's, good fried chicken and primo crack. its the bomb diggity.
-
The skyline there stands out from other cities. So I'm guessing they will use the streets(empty/dirty) and the tunnels. Probably use London and Chicago for the skyline shots. The one huge plus to using Pittsburgh is you can do local casting. Ben Roethlisberger is perfect for the new villain "Rape Bear". He is a shaved bear that somehow became a big time quarterback. Mad about always being disrespected he waits in the dark in bars and attacks young women. He makes the mistake of going after Selina Kyle so Batman teams up with the new Robin(Aaron Rodgers) to beat Rape Bear half to death... So yeah Pittsburgh is perfect.

I was a TE (Started last two seasons) on a Div 1 NCAA school that played in 2 bowl games. From 6th grade through my senior year of college, it was my life. I even made an XFL team, but my knees just won't let me play anymore. Never got to step foot on that field... So before you make assumptions that nobody here knows football, or sports in general, i'd think again, k? And, uh, to the guy asking where I'm from... Parts Unknown. But I currently reside in NC.
-
I'm in NC too.
-
First Martin is right Lost sucks and Thrones has no fucking fairys in it, three words for the mouth breathers, read a book (without pictures in it). Second the Pirates are 3-2, you all should raise a banner. Third you Steelers fans didn't really think you'd win a superbowl here in Dallas did you? Fourth I really don't have anything against Pittsburg except for the damn Steelers. Should be fine as Gotham.
-
Actually the tax rates for filming in Illinois are less than in PA. Probably going for a more grimy look I imaging. Maybe Chicago is just to clean.
-
My guess, even a big Hollywood picture was not able to pay off all the "right" people in order to shoot there again. We've seen firsthand the Chicago political machine at work in Washington, and it ain't preaty folks. Plus as much as people want to bad mouth Pittsburgh, it's got some great architecture and isn't one of the top real crime capitals of the nation.
-
I would love to see the scene where the Batmobile get trashed by pot holes as he tries to avoid the flooding around Les Sherman Park
-
Like having Jay Cutler as a Bears starter.
-
Gardens means that Poison Ivy will be making a guest appearance.
-
Go Heels =).
-
Seems like a weird choice. But there are plenty of rundown places to shoot scenes of criminal activity.
-
And that all anyone talks about there is sports (I'm not anti-sports, just saying) and that it's kind of a depressing place. I had a friend from Jersey, moved to L.A., then moved to Chicago for a bit say that the train stations are like death traps. Is that true? He also said that if you want to live somewhere affordable, it's invariably very far away from where jobs are located and usually pretty dangerous. Could be total bullshit, I don't know, I've never been there. I'd still like to visit, most of what I've ever seen in docs/movies makes it look like a beautiful city.
-
My kids mom had moved down there in 99...so for a lil over 2 years Once a month, I would run down there to pick my kid up and go back down there to drop her off. (There were a couple of times tho that I met her in VA) but anyway got to see that area, spend some times, very nice area. Havent been down there though since the end of 2001.
-
that is all.

Obviously You Trolling Dickheads have Never Been to Pittsburgh
by Amusetrubator
Mark my words, this is going to look great on film. The architecture is better for Batman than Chicago. Why do you think that Tim Burton wanted to film his Superman film there? You want dramatic? I defy you to come north out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel after dark and not be impressed.
-
...according to the article at IMDB. So they'll probably shoot both, mix them as needed. Nobody outside those cities will ever know (or care). There might be some buildings, streets or alleys in Pittsburgh that caught Nolan's eye? It's scheduled for 4-6 months, so that says way more than a few "establishing shots", huh? Probably doing most of the close, street-level stuff there, blended with aerial establishing shots of Chicago (for continuity/tie-in with the first two). It'll all look the same to us, I'm sure. I guess this means we could see a bat boat, huh? Yeah, yeah...Chicago has a river running through it too, I know). :) I think tax breaks factored in some. So these two U.S. cities, but also scheduled for filming in England and Romania, according to the article.
-
Sorry but the current Browns are nothing more than an sorry excuse of an expansion team with the same name as the once great franchise.
-
Mr. I'd rather have someone retire than trade 'em.
-
Pittsburgh is a lot cheaper to film in than Chicago. Yeah, probably won't tell much of a difference, if any, but disappointed Chi-town won't finish where Batman started.
-
Chicago is, of course, a beautiful city. But so is Pittsburgh. It's not the polluted dying steel town of yore. I was there in the 70s when it was and there's been a world of change since then. Anyone who doesn't know that Pittsburgh is a major American success story hasn't been paying attention. Also, I don't know if Chicago is going to be Metropolis, but that Superman movie is going to be shot around here this summer. So, we've got that going for us. Also, also if some Pittsburgher wants to be an extra on a Batman movie and spend one day on set and then three long, long days sitting in a tent doing nothing, like I did on The Dark Knight, he's more than welcome.
-
Parts of which reminded me of Pennsylvania.

Benjamin Todd "Ben" Roethlisberger represents the city of Pittsburgh and the Steelers!
by Arafel
Benjamin Todd "Ben" Roethlisberger nicknamed Big Ben, is an American football quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. As far as I am concerned, he represents the city of Pittsburgh. He IS Pittsburgh, whether you like it or not.
-
I'm guessing he's coming here because of the rivers/bridges/tunnels - perhaps for a major sequence involving a Bat-Boat? Also, Pittsburgh is one of those cities that's small and condensed. You have high-tech buildngs a few blocks from run-down areas, and you cross a bridge and your out in the open countryside. So you have the makings of a half dozen very different looking major locations all within a few miles (or often a few hundred yards) of each other - unlike Chicago or New York, where you have to go a considerable distance to get away from the "city look".
-
The decision to move the location of Gotham City from Chicago to Pittsburgh has everything to do with Chris Nolan's fascination with American Football, and everyone on this talkback and AICN knows it!!!
-
Maybe they can roll in the hay.
-
Maybe Bale has to go on a Beer and Brat diet to bulk up from The Fighter emaciation.

Honestly,...I live near Pittsburgh,...and this news blew my mind! I could see why they would want to film there though. First,...they get a huge tax credit for filming in Pittsburgh. That is why a lot of films have been being shot there lately. Second,...Pittsburgh can be a beautiful city, but there are a lot of grimy, dirty, slummy areas too. If this is going to be a foot race with Bane and Gordon against the Bats,...I could see needing a diverse area to transverse. Also,...they already have their exterior shots from my understanding,...so I doubt they will be using the overall topography,...just the small areas between. In Pittsburgh,...in a very short radiance,...you have a ton of different shooting locals. Such as the casino, the stadium, the riverfront, the airport, two giant shopping malls, (The Monroeville being the home of ZOMBIES), and the freeway has a very non-linear construction...and even I must admit,...driving past the riverfront on the freeway can be one of the most beautiful experiences; even if your life is constantly in danger from road-raged drivers. Also,...Philly,...which I consider the true beauty of PA,...is a short flight away. Who is to say they wouldn't set up production in both cities if they need some extra exteriors or shots. Philly has just as many beautiful and recognizable areas as the Burgh. Crazyness. I hope all this doesn't pull from the continuity that Chicago provided though.
-
so no worries there. As for Casa Loma, it would be maybe a bit over the top as Stately Wayne Manor; besides it might confuse some who'd wonder why Batman was living at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Hey, remember when the Hulk & the Abomination fought right in front of the Zanzibar? What great advertising for the city! "Come to Toronto, see where the climax of The Incredible Hulk was filmed, get a lapdance".
-
i pray its because i can't even get Lenny right and not because you are the uber troll
-
It's a decent mix of urban and suburban town. after all, didn't Cruise shoot War of the Worlds in that town? Not to mention exterior shots from HBO's OZ were filmed in Bayonne. Now Newark, that's a whole different story and a perfect location for no man's land. you dont even have to hire extras. hyuk, hyuk, hyuk, hyuk! Poor Corey, the Man has his work cut out for him.
-
They're gonna have to CGI the HELL out of the skyline, because Pittsburgh's is awful compared to Chicago's. Or, just shoot the cityscape scenes in Chicago (or use leftover footage from the prior shoots). Otherwise the inconsistency will be very obvious. I can online imagine this was a budget decision.
-
"only imagine"
-
As a native, this thread is really interesting. Lot's of misconceptions (Fuck you, Capone. Start picking up the slack for real already.) But what I'm dying to know is who the hell this Choppa guy is, and where did he all of a sudden disappear to? Probably on another thread trying to seem provocative. Kudos on having something of an opinion, I suppose. Tunnels.
-
been trying to get out of this hell hole for years, but im still excited that batman is coming. they filmed a lot of movies around here recently but most of them havent been all that great. its still kinda surreal that they'd wanna come here. especially with all the talk of this film bringing the series full circle. you'd think they'd wanna keep continuity with where they started in Begins. but remember gotham in batman returns looked nothing like it did in batman 89. the difference being that burton, for some reason, didn't want to approach it as a true sequel. he even had the same sets from the first one, but chose not to use them.
-
only thought in response to those who say Pittsburgh is fundamentally noticeably different... is that its possible Gotham will have changed over time... i dunno
-

The move from Chicago to Pittsburgh has everything to do with Barrack Obama!
by Arafel
Yes, it's true. The studio heads of WB are, of course, right wing Republicans, so they didn't want there to be any benefit to the hometown of Barrack Obama, who they hate. Therefore, they pressured Chris Nolan to move the production of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES to a new location, so they chose Pittsburgh due to the tax breaks. This has everything to do with the vast, Rightwing conspiracy to destroy Barrack Obama, and everyone on AICN knows it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having been to both Chicago and Pittsburgh, I can say it's another GREAT CHOICE for (parts of) Gotham City.
by JDanielP
Like someone said above, Pittsburgh has a number of tunnels. And I'm very curious if they shoot in locations that I have personally been (even if only in a moving vehicle). And I love the approach of a fresh visual perspective. --And the city could use the love.

Outside of the Steelers (WHO SUCK ASS) what's Pittsuburgh got?

Scene 5: Batman swings into Heinz Factory while eating a Clark Bar and fends off thug weilding a broken Iron City bottle
by Bret Kenyon
Day 6: Laughter ensues as Christian Bale repeatedly tries to pronounce "Monongahela" Day 8: Somehow, coal dust is making the Batman costume TOO black Day 10: Half the crew wanders into Washington Heights and is never heard from again. Still regarded as a better location than Chicago.
-
Chicago is Gotham City
-
Come on man it's F-U-C-K. I looked it up. Just kidding. I know the city is spelled wrong, but at least I spelled Chicago properly.
-
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see either City being used much but for a few fleeting minutes of 2nd unit exteriors/pick up shots. But it shows how both cities know how to make deals. Personally, I'm happy to see it. I'm sick as fucking shit of seeing LA or NY or Chicago again and again and again. At least this will be fresh. And oh yes, I'm from Cleveland. So I can't close without a nice, big FUCK YOU to Pittsburgh. Blessings to all.
