...but it's at least impressive to see something "new" that looks new yet still maintains much of the old charm. Even the sound effects were reminiscent of old school Thundercats.

The animation is high quality. They must have spent a bit of money on this.

Cheetara 2.0 gives me the same feeling.

Somewhere, Seth MacFarlane is furiously masturbating to this
by Nasty In The Pasty
-
There should be no excuse for this franchise. Period.
-
Been a fan of his since Boy Meets World, say what you will about Batman Beyond but I thought he did great as Terry McGinnis in that as well. He seems to have made a decent impression on people in animation, so I'm glad he's still making a living in show business.
-
Only way it will make it to the big screen.
-
For some unknown reason, cartoons that give kids delusions of limitless power, dreams of becoming power abusing kings and queens and war and violence as acts without consequence.... who are the idiots responsible? Start teaching our brainwashed and developmentally retarded youth that they have to be responsible for their own actions, that you get what you give, not everyone will grow up to be rock stars and actors and learn a skill, for shit's sake. Who's with me?
-

Updated, slicker animation? Check. Designs updated *just* enough to make things work better wile still paying homage to the past? Check. Attempt to give what was essentially a toy commercial some depth and mythology? Check. But...didn't they already try this sort of thing with "Masters of the Universe" a few years ago? Which, if I recall, was well-received but died a quick death from lack of interest. What makes this any different? At least it doesn't look like it's shitting on our childhoods, I'll give them credit for that. But I don't think today's audiences in general (not speaking of the folks here, obviously) want another rebooted rehash of 80's cartoons. This will last two years, tops, just from antipathy. And count me in the "yes, I'd do Cheetara, too" camp.
-
I gotta say, I like this trend of bringing back the originals to play the parents of the new incarnations. Anybody notice it was the original voices of Duke and Scarlett playing the new Duke's parents in G.I.Joe: Renegades?
-
My kids were just watching the new Scooby Doo, and I noticed Casey Kasem was the voice of Shaggy's dad. (He's now voiced by Matthew Lillard, who also played him in the live-action movies)
-
Original TCs lasted 3 years so what's the difference? if anything else they keep this lasting franchise alive and its fanbase happy.and if they manage to attract the younger audience to this franchise as well, more power to them. Besides AVATAR proved that humanoid kittens do appeal to the audience. :D
-
only snarf can fuck this up. dial his ass back and we will be on good terms.
-
Yeah, they did do the same to MotU, and it rocked. Sad it didn't go further, but I like what we got. Hoping for the same here...looks good so far.
-
This is just LOTR with fur. I laughed out loud when he said "Fight like cats". That just sounds funny.
-
he always was..he always was..
-
totally thought the same thing it really sounds like Jaga is voiced by the original Lion-O
-
Jaga isn't Lion-O's father
-
I actually thought this looked like it had potential, even thought the first trailer they released looked interesting. But this just looks cheap and silly. Its for kids, so I can't really rag on it too much, but don't know who'd be excited for this.
-
Good Lord..
-
...Why keep it 95% the same characters and design, even the same logo, then take out the whole concept of them arriving on Third Earth from a spaceship? I guess it remains to be seen whether them always existing there is going to be an improvement or not. My gut reaction is that it has lost some of the uniqueness and is "just another fantasy epic wannabe," but maybe it will root the characters to their own world better in the long run.
-
well fuck your pissy little show then wb.
-
She was always my favorite.
-
Guess I got here too late for the first one.
-
Supurb animation! Very well done! Mixing modern with Old-School ThunderCats! Amazing!
-
Cheese-tastic. There are some lines that not only don't look good on the page, but sound worse when spoken aloud.

Looks like Daddy Lion-O was going all Sauron on them
by Grammaton Cleric Binks
Then the brown stuff hit the rotating blades.
-
so we'll probably DVR it or something. Still waiting on the He-Man remake
-
But its charmingly laughable. Certainly not awe-inspiring, that's for sure.
-
I too like the idea better that they're escaping on a ship and get stuck in cryo-sleep a long time, ending up on a planet they know nothing about. But Panthro wasn't in this trailer either... so perhaps they DO still escape, only Mum-Ra follows?
-
I mean... damn.
-

by Datascream
Cause you don't seem to be in the right place, plus you're kind of a moody Bitch.
-
I'll be watching it, it's still lacking Panthro though.
-
So it's Third Earth and not Thundera, and that looks awfully like an adult Lion-O. Which all means... this is a sequel series?
-
The original version had better designs and animation. Frankly this looks really lame. And Cheetara was hot in the original; this one... not so much.
-
The closest the original had to a unique visual style was aping Boris Vallejo. Cartoons these days are far, FAR more visually distinct and stylistic than they were in the 80s.
With most (not all) cartoons in the 80s, you could pretty much interchange the characters of different shows and you couldn't tell. Not the case these days.

Have I Got A Story For You was the worst of the Gotham Knight segments.
by Stalkeye
bad art style and an idea rehashed from that Batman TAS episode in which a bunch of teens conjured up various versions of Bats in action.
-
I might watch this, I still need to catch up on The Avengers
-
Wasn't that the episode with the different animation styles for each story? I remember thinking that was very cool... ... Yeah, along the same line as "Almost Got Him", and inferior to that great episode, but still a pretty cool idea and experiment with the different styles, I thought.
-
I thought you were referring to the Batman TAS episode (which may have been in the "New Batman Adventures" season, aka Gotham Knights) in which we saw different takes on Batman, and one was a Frank Miller styled version of Dark Knight Returns. Which episode was that?
-
Live action 3D! hollywood make it happen
-
It's Thundercats done in Tolkien style, with some Pokemon CGI and anime influenced character design. Craptacular.
-
Sure, why not. I saw a few episodes of the MOTU reboot and I dug it. It tickled my nostalgia. Not enough to keep at it or catch up after it was canned, but I wasn't offended by its existence or the ambition it had to be more than a toy commercial. AIRBENDER proved me on quality, mythology-based cartoon series. Even if I check out after the pilot, what I've seen so far doesn't seem like a waste of time.
-
What was that toy that was little animal/humanoid action figures with a hologram on the chest and when you rubbed it, it was an element. There was a shark guy and a rhino guy, tiger guy, etc. Just wondering, it was 80's thing.
-
Did I miss Panthro?
-

water puts out fire, fire burns wood, wood um... floats on water.
by frank
-
was he fixing up the thunder tank or something?
-
Did they just grab scenes from the original show to fill in the gaps here, because I see no improvement in the animation at all. Sure, every character of note has shorter fur (hair?) but that's all I see different. The voices will take some getting used to, but being one of the minority (majority?) who do not understand the still-frame anime style, this just looks lame as scrubbing my bathroom toilet after my brothers have had a beer hurl in it...
-
I was primarily a Star Wars kid, but I could see the attraction for Transformers, GI Joe, Dungeons and Dragons, Masters of the Universe, hell even Ninja Turtles, for the camp factor. But for some reason I just thought Thundercats was retarded as fuck. And I love cats.
-
...even on other websites, had me expecting some truly epic boobs. I must admit I'm a bit disappointed by her truly normal anime sized rack. Oh well, this still looks great!
-

Charlie Sheen would like this, this show's got full of tiger blood!
by MrMysteryGuest

they look like teenagers...fuck off.
-
I only realized this after seeing it again recently.
-
Thundercats was a Rankin-Bass show.
-
Quote: "I thought you were referring to the Batman TAS episode (which may have been in the "New Batman Adventures" season, aka Gotham Knights) in which we saw different takes on Batman, and one was a Frank Miller styled version of Dark Knight Returns. Which episode was that? " I can't remember the title of that particular episode from TAS, However, it was one of my favorites eps as it paid homage to dick sprang and of course Miller's legendary Dark Knight opus. (Bats being voiced by Michael Ironside, was a stroke of genius and left me wishing for a entire DK animated series.) That episode's concept was re-used in the Gotham knight direct to dvd movie.("have I got a story for you.)Gotham Knight (or as i call it; Batmanime) is a compilation of stories done by various anime studios. there were a few good ones especially the segment in which Bats goes against Deadshot. (produced by the guys responsible for Ninja Scroll.) have i got a story for you was more like a filler than an original segment.

Oh, and speaking of Anime, that new X-men series is looking damn good!
by Stalkeye
prologue alone is worthy of praise. Not liking their new uniforms however, it's too simular to the live action movies. That being said, can't wait to see the following 11 episodes. About fucking time marvel got their shit together when it comes to animation.
-
Sorry had to say it
-
...the rest of the show wasn't any better than anything out there today, if not actually worse. What, do you watch the intro and turn the rest off?
Oh, and just a little unnecessary to tell me to "eat a dick" when otherwise you would have a decent argument. Yeah, I'm gonna take you seriously after that one, pal.
-
Can you say, GIJoe the Movie? *AHEM*
-
Agreed.
