Check out these new high-res Captain America photos!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. You may have noticed I quite like behind the scenes pictures, so one of the happy surprises when I got the press release concerning new Captain America photos was that two of the four new images were BTS shots. You've seen at least one of these pics before, but this is the first time it's been in mega-size.
I hear they screened 15 minutes of footage at CinemaCon (nee ShoWest) tonight and it went over well. From what I've seen and that last awesome trailer I think it's a good time to start getting psyched for Cap!

Captain America has been one of my favorite superheroes, ever since I was a younker in the 70's. I've seen all of the cartoons and live-action movies that I could find, and they all left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. (especially the live-action) I've liked what I've seen so far of this one, but I don't know if it can live up to my inner-child's expectations. I sure hope so, 'cuz I wanna see some good ol' shield-slinging action.

Not even a glimpse of a flag or soldier. I hear Hitler mentioned in the trailer but all I see is made up bullshit futuristic robot-looking soldiers with flame thrower arms (ugh). If this film is afraid to show Nazis and just deals with silly made up enemies (the Red Shull doesn't even wear a Nazi uniform!) I'm over it already. I fear they went the PC route and will avoid showing swasticas to sell more toys and not offend parents. Revisionist history? I hope not.

quad: I heard they used effects similar to those in Benjamin Button. I don't remember if it was simply a smaller person or a CG person, but yes, they slapped Evans's face onto it. You gotta love it: we have to use CG to show a scrawny everyman, but a muscled-up superhero? Not a prob in the 21st century. chewtoy: Well said. The villain takes off a human "face" to reveal a freaking red skull. Would you rather turn down an alley and meet him or an SS agent?

Jesus, let's first worry about whether or not it's even good. All I want is a good Captain America movie. I don't expect it to be the greatest movie ever made; it's about a superhero. As long as it treats the source material with respect and I come out of the theatre happy and with a smile on my face, that's good enough for me. I couldn't give two shits if someone in the Middle East likes it or not.

Seriously ... will the average brain dead American teen be interested in a movie set in "dem olden times" of WW2? They're barely aware of the Vietnam War (and that's only thanks to Call of Duty: Black Ops). I wouldn't be surprised if this film is more popular in Europe than the States. Hell ... you know things are topsy turvy when the French are more gung ho about Libya than your Obama.

Does there have to be a movie done about EVERY GOD DAMN super hero that's been printed? Superman, Batman, Hulk; yeah, of course, and I'm still waiting for Wonder Woman. Those are the timeless ones that EVERYONE knows about. Iron Man and X-Men; not expected but mostly well done. Fantastic Four, haven't seen and I think I'm not missing much - just another vehicle for Jessica Alba to set the boys drooling with lust. Do Thor and Captain America & the Avengers REALLY have that big of an audience to warrant making a big-budget movie? I know Harry was creaming his pants over the recent Cap'n trailer not long ago; I'll take a pass, thanks.

I'm fairly certain that's exactly what it would mean. All branches of the German Wehrmacht displayed the swastika somewhere on the uniform - after all, it was the national flag at the time - as well as its own military insignia to designate which part of the Wehrmacht an individual belonged to. Just as someone in the Luftwaffe would wear both the swastika and Luftwaffe insignia, or someone in the Waffen-SS would display both the swastika and SS insignia, someone in Hydra should be wearing both the swastika and the Hydra emblem. To *not* wear the swastika would be tantamount to declaring you were *not* fighting for Germany and the Third Reich. Oh, and fuck that Fuhrer guy, too. Hydra should be wearing the swastika with pride in the film, unless they want the Fuhrer to doubt their allegiance.

Although they may have been founded by Nazis and may have even been considered a subdivision at the beginning, HYDRA ultimately pursues their own world-conquering agenda. Also, it's easy to surmise that Nazi Germany doesn't want HYDRA to be visually identifiable as their affiliates. HYDRA is a secret organization after all. Notice that in the modern comics, HYDRA doesn't consider themselves Nazi. Fascist, yes. Old-school Nazi, no.
