Check out this throwback poster for Yuen Woo Ping's TRUE LEGEND!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the debut of a kung-fu one-sheet... and not just any kung-fu flick, but one directed by Master Yuen Woo Ping, he of floating martial arts badassery.
The below poster is obviously done in the exploitation style of the '70s kung-fu craze like Enter the Dragon and The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, so it wins some cool points for that. Would have been a little better if it was an art poster, but c'est la vie.
The flick releases May 13th and here's the poster! Click for the bigger version!

Badass!
-
Btw, this movie is awesome.
-
Man of Vendetta, No Mercy. And no mention to A Bittersweet Life and The Man from Nowhere, which Harry recomended on his dvd column. All fantastic movies.
-
Woo Ping hasn't directed a movie in years so he's able to do his take on all the stylistic developments introduced by The Matrix and Zack Snyder and what not, but combine them with every other trick in his bag. He has some pretty down to earth fighting as well as crazy wirework, super-powered gods, big battles with soldiers. The big guy on the poster is a great villain with armor stitched into his skin. Alot of people don't seem to like it as much as me, but I really dug it, even if it eventually turns into the same sort of international tournament movie as Fearless and Ip Man 2.

All in all a good flick... V Zhao has this dope move which is essentially a breakdancing "windmill" ... And of course, David Carradine's last filmed appearance is another highlight

Look at the Lower Left Side of the Poster! It is Pai Mei from Kill Bill 2!

Somebody call Quentin Tarantino pronto!
-
I'll definitely see this! He's right up there with Woo Ching Wang and Wang Wong Zang.
-
The movie could have done without it.
-
Not quite true. Check out John Carpenter's films like Big Trouble in Little China (which has Kung Fu, but the film a bit more into Chinese mysticism) as well as Prince of Darkness and Memoirs of an Invisible Man. John Carpenter has a thing about casting Asian actors. Admittedly some of the parts in those films are small speaking roles, but they could have been cast with just about anyone; so it's kinda cool that he used Asian actors.

Lovin the look!!!

A new Yuen Woo Ping martial arts film featuring Michelle Yeoh, Gordon Liu, Feng Xiaogang (the Crocodile Gang Boss in Kung Fu Hustle & director of The Banquet) & Man Cheuk Chiu (check out the badass Tsui Hark film The Blade). I think I just came.
-
Stir-fried braaaaaaains!
-
You're almost right. That is Gordon Liu, but the character of "Bearded Man" is not like Pai-Mei at all. He's a goofy trickster guy working with The God of Wushu (played by the guy who played Kato in the recent Green Hornet).

Thats the villain, the good guy is the beggar with beard at the center.

Cool poster. I gotta check this flick out.
-
The old dude on the left! And it is weird seeing Michelle Yeoh looking more venerable than hot lead. I guess time waits for no woman.
-
there is filmatic experimentation in true legend that legitimately pushes the genre forward. watch it.

"a great villain with armor stitched into his skin"
by WriteForTheEdit
That is some fucking serious win right there. Looks totally ferocious. And I don't care how old Michelle gets/looks. I'll still do her. She's a goddess.

Yeah, I was shocked this wasn't shown in the Asia Society film festivals
by mistergreen
Instead they showed crap like IP man 2 and 14 Blades.
-
I totally already wrote a post above about the poster showing Pai Mei from Kill Bill 2 already if you read above. It is somebody else in a far different character. Looks damn similar however.
-
About time! this looks badass!!!

Found the trailer for the movie on iTunes. Worth checking out. http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/truelegend/
