Less than 24 hours left! AICN Contest! Win A Personalized Voicemail Message From Rainn Wilson And A Ton Of Other Great SUPER Stuff!

Published at:  Mar 30, 2011 4:54:36 PM CDT

The countdown has begun! You have less than 24 hours to enter, so allow this to serve as an alert for those last-minute contesters out there! We've had some great entries so far, but with the amount of prizes we have there's still a good chance to win! So, get out me your entries before midnight tomorrow or Crime will win!

UPDATE #1: For the sake of clarity, the top prize is Rainn Wilson recording your outgoing message for your voicemail. You know how funny the dude is and I've been promised this won't be some weak, forced "Hi, this is Rainn Wilson. Welcome to (insert your name here)'s phone! Leave a message."

UPDATE #2: Super mega bonus points if you can incorporate Rainn Wilson's THE CRIMSON BOLT character into your comic!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a particularly rad contest for you nice people of the world!

Apparently the movie gods have deemed me unworthy to actually see James Gunn’s SUPER as every single time I’ve been in the same place with it I’ve been unable to make it a screening due to a conflict I couldn’t wiggle out of, but from what I hear it’s violent, fucked up and right up my alley.

IFC wants to do something really special with this giveaway and unlike many studio contests the filmmakers are heavily involved, too. Super seems to be a labor of love, a little movie that could and to that end we will have Gunn and Rainn Wilson personally involved (perhaps more) and a lot of prize packs to give away. There might be a few surprise judges, but as of right now James Gunn and myself will be going over the entries.

Since Super is a movie about a real life superhero we’re going the tried and true way with having you funny, artistically inclined readers come up with a twisted comic. It could be a web-comic, a Jack Kirby-esque vintage comic book page, a comic strip. That’s up to you, but we want you to create a new superhero, design the costume and push the limits of decency. James Gunn and myself share a fucked up sense of humor, so keep that in mind if you want to play to the judges.

What can you win? Well, the good news is that there are LOTS of prizes, so if you put a good foot forward you’re likely to walk away with at least a poster and some DVDs.

Top prize gets you a nice little prize pack that includes a personalized voicemail from Rainn Wilson delivered to you as an MP3. On top of that you’ll also receive a Super script autographed by damn near everybody in the world. James Gunn, Rainn Wilson, Elen Page, Nathan Fillion, Kevin Bacon, Gregg Henry, Lloyd Kaufman, Mollie Milligan, Liv Tyler, Linda Cardellini, Miranda Bailey, Ted Hope, Michael Rooker, Stephen Blackehart, Sean Gunn and Andre Royo. And there’s more! A Crimson Bolt one sheet (below) autographed by James Gunn, Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson as well as an IFC midnight DVD pack.

There’s only one first place prize that gets the Rainn Wilson voicemail, but three runners up will get the autographed script, autographed poster and IFC DVD package. Five more will be chosen for just the autographed poster and DVD package, so we have a total of 9 winners in this contest.

Draw your book by hand, use crude computer drawings… do what you have to do, just be creative. I can’t speak for James, but I’ll be judging on creativity more than artistic talent. The winners’ work will be featured here at AICN and likely on the Super social networking sites.

The contest is open world-wide, so anyone can enter. Just know that our picks will be final, so no bitching after the fact if your favorite didn’t get chosen.

What I need from you is an email to this address: superaicn@gmail.com with the subject line Shut Up, Crime! The contents of the email should include your mailing address (used only for the purposes of this contest) and your submission (under 5 megs, please… if you have a larger file upload it and send a link).

You have from right this very minute until 11:59pm CST Thursday, March 31st to send your submission in. I’ll post all the winners here shortly thereafter!

Good luck!

also have nice signatures. Most look like scribbles, or children's first attempts at handwriting. Page's looks kinda arty farty as one would expect.

You made reference to it seeming like a Michael Rappaport, and you choose "The Naked Man"? Seriously? You do know Rappaport was in "Special" right? Which is a much closer fit here.....

That sentence should have said "seeming like a Michael Rappaport film". Cursed lack of edit function.
