Deadline says that Disney has picked up THE RUNNER as a potential project for director Marc Foster (FINDING NEVERLAND, MONSTER'S BALL, and QUANTUM OF SOLACE was really cool - so suck it).
Written by Dave Andron of the quickly defunct KNIGHT RIDER television series which aired a year or two ago...
The premise: In the year 2027, Earth's surface has been rendered uninhabitable due to a devastating attack. A group of survivors living in the Rocky Mountains have discovered a way to send a man back in time. While the volunteer departs under the guise of trying to stop the devastating attack, he has an ulterior motive: to save the love of his life.

Brian Grazer (BACKDRAFT, APOLLO 13, CINDERELLA MAN, FROST/NIXON ) is producing.
Interesting. All of these 'travel back in time to save the future' movies make me wonder how long it'll be before someone re-adapts John Varley's MILLENNIUM? LOGAN'S RUN director Michael Anderson did it back in 1989 (HERE), netting interesting but ultimately mixed results.
