THE HANGOVER PART II Teaser Is Here To Tell You How Great The First Film Is!!
Merrick here...
A teaser for THE HANGOVER PART II is now online in Glorious QuickTime over at Apple. Not a great deal to see - oddly, much of the teaser's running time is spent plugging the first film.
I enjoyed THE HANGOVER a bit - although I don't think the resolution to the mystery (where's that missing friend!?) was as clever as it should've been, or paid off like the filmmakers probably wanted it to. Still, I don't mind seeing these characters back in play, and look forward to a more illustrative trailer.

Bullshit program.

Rolling Stones jean jacket was a nice touch
-
Feel bad for the dude.
-
Not sure why it's so beloved. It's not bad but I didn't laugh THAT much.
-
Was too busy shooting National Treasure 3?
-
So it's just like the first one but they are in Thailand or something? That's lame. I'll wait for Netflix
-
The face tat and Zach's shaved head made me laugh out loud. I'll see this.
-
I saw the fist one twice in cinemas. The first time everyone seemed to go with it and it was great. The second time the audience didn't take to it as well and it felt flat. A lot has to do with who you watch it with.
-
People loved this movie because of their fascination of being drunk and 'not being able to remember being ridiculously intoxicated'. If it weren't for the glorification of being drunk, this would have been a standard, buddy flick. *yawn*
-
the mystery was there to serve the humor. it wasn't supposed to be amazingly clever. it was supposed to be just another 'oh shit, we didn't!' moment in the film. which it was. don't tell me you enjoyed the hangover, which delivered more laughs per minute than most comedies deliver per hour, and then bitch about something that nobody fucking cares about. that's just being a ass.
-
A proper, R-rated comedy that wasn't a damned "rom-com"... a proper guy's movie that crossed over to everyone... rude, raunchy, filthy, funny. Like any film with a massive rewatchiability factor it hit high because of the chemistry between the leads. The only film I've ever, ever seen in a cinema where the audience was missing jokes because they were busy laughing at the last one. Plus, unlike most comedies - ie bullshit, hit-the-beats-til-Adam-Sandler-shouts-at-someone efforts - there was an actual mystery and plot turns. It's a genuinely good film and great comedy. Part II has me sold just because it has a monkey like in Raiders.
-
Amazing!

The best joke was at the beginning and the rest was forced stupidity. "Dodgeball" was a much better dumb comedy. "Hangover" sucked!

"this generation's" comedy-epic they're hyping it up to be.

It seems that they've lost the energy from the first one, same as Iron Man, and Spider-man, so it will be good now that we can have a new director come on with a new cast and new ideas and mechanical web shooters.

and then Jon Favreau says "you aren't in this movie, I am!"

That's a pretty original teaser right there. Me likey.

I won't be so flaming lame as to act like I'm so damn smart I didn't like the first movie either.

a controversial motherfucker like him and probably piss off a lotta people, but Gibson was too edgy for a cutting-edge comedian like Galifinakas

was that a big film?

Cause she was funny as hell in the first one.
-
some great moments, some funny scenes but overrated I think. and I couldn't stand that Zack Galifianakis. annoying prick. not funny. not. at. all.
-
Are you guys in here serious? The Hangover was funny. Maybe you don't find it funny because you have no friends in real life and can't relate to actual human interaction; also your mom won't lend you the car to go to Vegas.
-
Much better than the finished film. I never laugh out loud when reading a script but I did when I read The Hangover. Imagine my surprise when majority of the finished film was drastically different. I can actually say I laughed more at the script than i did at the movie. No Mike Tyson, no baby, no retard. The characters were very likable and real. The movie wasn't even close. Don't know why they changed it.

cock_nasty, really? You're THAT upset about the diff tween apes and monkeys? Really?

You really need to calm down, bro. And I think your analogy is wrong. The difference between cats and dogs is wider than the difference between apes and monkeys. They are both primates and part of the same suborder...

Let's hope not! Ed Helms and Zach Icantspellyourfuckingname makes me laugh, so I'll see it.

I am going to do my best to find the bar where a lot of this movie takes place; supposedly one of the bars had a facelift for this movie, and I think I know where it is. I'll get a report back from the "set" of this movie if possible.

The first one was the best comedy of 2009 and in the top 10 funniest movies of the 00's. In fact, I'd put it in the Top 5, right behind Superbad... You know what, I'll give you a Top 10 funniest movies of the 00s: 10. Borat 9. Clerks 2 8.Tropic Thunder 7. Super Troopers 6. Wedding Crashers 5. Old School 4. The 40 Year Old Virgin 3. The Hangover 2. Superbad 1. Napoleon Dynamite

WTF, Runkle?!?
-
it would be interesting had he remained in the cameo. But Zack said hellz naw! Yet Tyson starred in the first. I guess Racists are worse than (alleged) rapists.
-
Pineapple Express, Anchorman (it's a victim of it's own success, like Caddyshack, it's now quoted by every asshole you see, sucking out the funny...), Zoolander, Dodgeball, Bad Santa, Harold & Kumar, and Team America (Fuck, Yeah!!!)

I'd swap out Wedding Crashers and Old School for Pineapple Express and Dodgeball, though. Other than that, solid, solid list.

News stations only say "alleged" all the time so they won't get sued if the person gets off. However, he had a trial by his peers and was convicted of rape. So it's not libel if you call him a rapist. He IS...
-
I think it's just relatable, and it had a story to follow that was fun. The humor was nothing special but I think audiences were just ready for that kind of movie. Compared to other shit that comes out these days, sure why not consider it the Citizen Kane of party movies! it still isn't saying much.

Hangover was a lot funnier than it should have been................
by crackerfarmboy
I was expecting a completely generic modern comedy film: insert Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, and a Wilson brother here; instead Hangover was actually rather intelligent and funny. Should it get a sequel? God no. Oh and monkeys are not apes. Apes are much larger, more intelligent, and do not have tails. Humans are actually the fourth species of ape (Chimpanzees, Orangutans, and Gorillas being the others.)
-
Then it sounds like an ape.

coughlins laws... Horrible list unless it was a worst of 2000's list
by Andrew Coleman
Napoleon Dynamite and Superbad? What are you 15? Horrible list. The Hangover is alright. I'm seeing the second one because I bet it will be the funniest movie to come out this year. I also agree they don't need a long set up before shit hits the fan. But braindrain I don't get what you're saying about Casino Royale. Are you talking about the opening scene that was in black and white? That was cool. From there the movie gets right into things.
-
By 20 minute origin, do you mean the 5 minute scene establishing thar James just earned his double o status? Your comment doesn't make sense anyway because, in my opinion, the beginning of a movie is during the film.

by UGG
I need to watch Orgazmo and Baseketball again I can barely remember them. I watched Ghost Rider in work too. I had people looking over my shoulder laughing at how shit it was. I still haven't seen The Wicker Man remake, except for the bee's bit somewhere, will have to give that a whirl sometime. "Maatt Daamon" it just works so well.

I don't think its necessary to bash people because they don't have the same sense of humor I do, but if you didn't laugh one time at The Hangover and say it wasn't funny at all, you are a commie bastard.

Scott's Robin Hood did the unecessary origin thing, too

Sometimes a character is iconic enough that you can dive right in. James Bond, Robin Hood, Superman, etc. Hell, sometimes the character can be DESIGNED to be that iconic - Indiana Jones didn't get an origin until the third film.

Are we defining the 00s as 2000-2009 or 2001-2010? There is a very real debate about that. I tend to do the former, but I also understand that since there was no Year 0, then you kinda have to do it the latter way. But I don't give a fuck, I'm going with 2000-2009. Also, I hate to get even more in depth, but how are we defining "Comedy"? There are many movies I would include in my list that don't necessarily fit into a neat box. I'm talking about clearly humorous films that maybe are also technically Action films, or "dramedies", or really really fucking bleak and dark movies that also make you laugh. I'm thinking specifically about movies like IN BRUGES, BLACK DYNAMITE, KISS KISS BANG BANG, GHOST WORLD, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS and AMERICAN PSYCHO. Would you consider those movies "comedies"? I want to include those here so that's why I'm asking. <br><Br> Just to offer a counterpoint to the previous list, here's mine based on the guidelines I just laid out:<br><br> 1. Borat: Cultural Learnings For Make Better Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan<br> 2. Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy<br> 3. The 40 Year Old Virgin<br> 4. In The Loop<br> 5. Best In Show<br> 6. Bad Santa<br> 7. In Bruges<br> 8. Idiocracy<br> 9. Superbad<br> 10. Black Dynamite<br> 11. Team America: World Police<br> 12. Zoolander<br> 13. Old School<br> 14. Shaun Of The Dead<br> 15. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang<br> 16. Super Troopers<br> 17. The Hangover<br> 18. Pineapple Express<br> 19. Tenacious D in The Pick Of Destiny <br> 20. Role Models<br>
-
I would switch Super Troopers and The Hangover to numbers #18 and #19 and move Pineapple Express and Tenacious D up two spaces each.
-
One of the most overrated movies of last year. Just more rehashed shit of "ohh, lets get drunk and think of the craziest things that can happen in a short period of time and throw them all together." Meh.

So what do you guys have to gain from bashing The Hangover?
by vin_diggler
It's a slapstick comedy, nothing more. They weren't going for any awards. They did not attempt to remake one of your beloved classics. They simply wanted to make a funny movie and I say they succeeded.
-
Seriously, funniest movie I've ever seen in my life, SERIOUSLY underrated and underexposed, and a MILLION times better than the Hangover. And they featured so many of the same cast members!
-
Did you also laugh during Black Swan?
-
Not sure if you'd classify it as a comedy - bit of a mash-up of genres, but one of which would be comedy wouldn't it? It certainly had some of the finniest moments and dialogue in a movie that particular year. Black comedy in several instances (the dog with Downey's finger in his mouth comes to mind) sure, but at least it was meant to make you laugh...unlike Black Swan, which elicited laughs unintentionally.
-
Applescruff, great list. I would in fact consider American Psycho a comedy, so kudos for bringing that to the fore. Never got the love for Old School though. In my opinion that is one of the most overrated comedies of the past 10 years or more. However I really enjoyed the Hangover, and I'd probably wedge it up in the top 10. Honestly, the ending montage had people laughing as hard as I've ever heard a packed house laughing in a theatre. This was a huge component of its success I think...sent people out riding one of the biggest (of not THE biggest) laughs of the movie. Runner up would be the tazer face-off. Rob Wriggle ("that's it...I like the intensity...") always cracks me up, while the blocky kid's poker face running in slo-mo off Fat Jesus's palpable fear was brilliant.
-
Great point above, the end montage was the funniest end-credits sequence ever. Never head a theater laugh so hard over closing credits, and EVERY comedy does it nowadays. Can't believe how many pompous fanboys are claiming they didn't enjoy it. Stick to Edgar Wright's overrated geek humor, I guess. But you can't argue with a comedy that makes $250 million.
-
Borat was indeed the funniest film of the last decade. I'll have words with anyone who differs!
-
is this hotel beeper friendly? Funniest line in the movie, period. Fuckin' beeper friendly!!! Still, I'm so pissed about the Gibson incident (and Tyson is in the second one?) that I'd really have a problem buying a ticket to this. (Hell, with gas at $3.20 a gallon, I'm gonna have a problem buying a ticket to ANY movie.)
-
What is it teasing...that we will not find it funny, at all? Note to marketing: it's a comedy. Make the trailers funny.
-
It was tame compared to a 70s flick. In the post-South Park era it was nothing. A total tease. Barely Simpsons level transgression. Ever seen "Very Bad Things"?

by thecomedian
When Mike Tyson gives the funniest performance in your movie you're in trouble. And I actually like Zack Gallifinakis in most of the stuff he's in. Old School and all the other fratpack movies from the early 2000s are way funnier than The Hangover. Call me a traditionalist but I'd much rather have seen the crazy night they had then a whole movie of connect the dots catch up.
-
That's the movie I actually wanted to see.

by Nasty In The Pasty
It's like midgets. Every time I see either a midget or a monkey in a comedy movie trailer, I know it's going to suck and suck HARD. And the first Hangover was positively DREADFUL.
-
You nerds are fucking hard to please. "Paging Doctor Faggot!" If that movie did not make you laugh then you are dead inside.

I gave Anchorman an honorable mention. It's just played out for me now.
by Coughlins Laws
Everyone I know constantly quoted that movie for 4 years. If you asked me 2 or 3 years ago, I would've had it in my Top 3. Just now, it's too familiar. As far as Borat, I have to admit, I don't ever remember laughing that hard in a movie theatre over anything. That being said, for some reason, I just have no desire to watch it again. I bought it on DVD and have never watched it all the way through. I like movies you can watch over and over again. Napoleon Dynamite is a movie I didn't like the first time I watched it but it just kept getting funnier and funnier to me. Whenever it's on Comedy Central, I just start watching it. And to the guy that said Sex Drive, I almost forgot about that movie. That was unexpectedly funny to me. I also thank the movie for introducing me to Amanda Crew...
-
... and we all sat there, stone-faced, waiting for it to be daring or out-there, or funny (and we suitably intoxicated and very much in the right head space for a fun comedy). But it just didn't click with any of us guys and dolls. I just don't get the popularity and acclaim on this one. Didn't Very Bad Things do this in a more fun and subversive way years earlier? It took more risks too. Hangover seemed very, very safe to us. I have equal love for British and American films, but I can't help but wonder how much more daring a UK version of this film would have been. At least it might have felt vaguely real.
-
Feb. 24, 2011, 9:29 p.m. CST
ray_tango, first of all, who's standard is it that a movie has to be "daring" or "out-there"?
by Coughlins Laws
Is it the movie's fault that you put your own unrealistic expectations on it? Second of all, being drunk is NOT a good way to watch a movie. Maybe a movie you've already seen a couple of times but when you're drunk, the movie DEFINITELY doesn't have your full attention. And last but not least, Very Bad Things? Really? Other than both movies set in Las Vegas, I couldn't think of two movies that were more different. Very Bad Things was NOT a good movie and was barely a comedy. It tried WAY to hard and I really think you're putting us on. You don't REALLY think that movie was better than The Hangover, do you? Are you just being a contrarian just to be different?
-
Fuck you Hangover People. Fuck you.
-
If it's popular you folks hate it. If it made money you hate it. If you loved it when it came out but they're making a sequel then you hate it (and the sequel). If the filmmaker didn't follow it with another movie that did equally well you hate it, the next movie, and him. The rush to proclaim how unspectacular everything that does well is the one constant in the universe. The Hangover was outstanding. It worked across the board which rarely happens with this kind of comedy. Not one weak link in the entire thing.
-
You mean The Evil Dead trilogy? And they are better than what exactly? Of course, everyone knows that Max Johnson loves him some Evil Dead.
-
It was an ok movie that was way WAYYYY overhyped but I guess I could go for more. With that being said the funniest parts of the last one were all in the trailer and if that's the case again......this aint agonna be a too goot.
-
NOT THIS ONE!!!

The Hangover is good. The Hangover II teaser sucks.
by thebearovingian
"He's jacking his little wenis." "Not at the table, Carlos." Inappropriate and crude yet hilarious. Love the part with Zach and Brad coming down the escalator a la 'Rain Man'.
-
Yeah well since you failed to discern the source of my username on here, and you failed to understand why even a teaser for an upcoming comedy should attempt to show something resembling humor...you lose.
-
..really enjoyed the Hangover, found the performances great across the board (the supporting characters were memorable and funny), the chemistry between the main players fantastic, the dialogue at times hilarious, and the situations pretty fresh. I know I hadn't seen a movie play out like that before, and didn't see everything coming, which was a welcome change. Lumping the King of Queens, Two and a Half Men and Everybody Loves Raymond together is correct (it's all mediocre bullshit in my eyes), but throwing The Hangover on top of that pile does a disservice to what was a much better piece of popular entertainment. I think some people have got the rose-coloured glasses jammed on a little too tight. Perhaps The Hangover will fade with time, but from where I stand so have many of the other comedies mentioned. Bachelor Party is solid, but a classic? Revenge of the Nerds? Entertaining yeah, but also swamped in sickly sweet swill by the time it wrapped up. Porky's is shit, I'm sorry. It wasn't great back in '80, and it's all the more fucking terrible now. Made infamous by how racy it was, not for how funny. And the Party Animal?? I loved it at the time, but it was mostly on account of the flagrant T and A. Then again, that offensive, sexist and racist sloppy cut and paste job did have it's moments. Not an ounce of wit though, but man, you had to admire its balls. "Hound dog is gonna it that pussy, hound dog is gonna eat that pussy..." Oh Pondo Sinatra.
-
but it was still awesome. i dont think it was supposed to be funny, and was just saying hangover part 2, memorial day, get pumped. and thats what i am. the first was hilarious. i find a lot of recent comedies overrated (pineapple express, step brothers and tropic thunder) but i loved the hangover.
-
You miserable fucks
-
This would be the obvious jab at the plethora of shitty comedies that have come since, and used that superlative to market themselves.
-
Oh it will make money, but it wont be good
-
Glad Good ol' Charlie made that Anti semetic comment since that may be the quickest way to cancel that unfunny shit that passes as Comedy. Sheen should have known better not to fuck with the Jews. (Can you say "Mel Gibson"?)
-
Liam Neeson has filmed a new scene for the Blu-Ray edition of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith. Frank Oz also involved.
-
This summer shits gonna go down, muthafucka!!!!!!
-
I found this a hard list to compile, because comedies generally sucked in this Apatow-ruled era. 10) Zoolander 9) Role Models 8) 40 Year-Old Virgin 7) In Bruges 6) Borat 5) School of Rock 4) A Mighty Wind 3) A Life Aquatic 2) Anchorman 1) Old School I liked the Hangover, but with all of the must-see-in-the-theater movies coming out this Summer, the sequel is a rental for me.

by THE_CHOPPAH
So, Ed Helms character has moved to vegas and is going to marry Heather Graham. The rest of the guys gather in Vegas for the wedding the night before an they plan on having a bachelor party. Meanwhile, Graham's baby daddy is also in town and he wants to hang out with Helms and get to know him since they will both be in the child's life. Only Baby Daddy has an ulterior motive: to sabotage Helms' and Graham's wedding. So, during the bachelor party he drugs Helms and his buddies and the morning after Helms learns that he lost the baby and he and the others need to piece the night together in order to find the baby. (Only the baby isn't really lost he is being held by the Baby Daddy.)

I used "alleged" because, of the plausable denial of the case and as much as I have disdain for Tyson, he may have been railroaded. The so called Victim went on to the Miss Black Beauty Pageant the day after she was raped by Mikey. Now, what fucking Woman in their right mind would attend some Beauty contest after being raped? no, her ass would have went to the Po Po (Police) and have a rape kit administrated for evidence against her attacker. Don't even go there with "Oh, she was too ashamed". if that's the case, why go out in front of all those people for the pageant? *Jeporady music playing*

stalkeye, I think what happened is that the woman initially wanted to have sex with Tyson
by THE_CHOPPAH
and then when he started to get rough she didn't like it and told him to stop. He did not. If this was the case then that was rape even if she initially consented. I think a similar thing happened in the Kobe Bryant case. It was still rape. Of course, Kobe settled in that one.

We know for a fact that Tyson was a wife beater and in that he is similar to Gibson
by THE_CHOPPAH
The reason gibson gets the raw deal is because of his racism. And he deserves to get a raw deal, don't get me wrong, but so does Tyson. Hypocrisy of the highest order!
-
Not a box office disaster. It will make a lot of money. It will be a terrible film that everyone will forget about a couple of years down the road. Comedy sequels don't pan out well, especially one with the plot style and mega success of The Hangover.

I'm just waiting for the 3rd installment: 'Little Hangovers'
by THE_CHOPPAH
-
Yes, to have sex against a Woman's will is of course rape. However, Tyson's Victim had no business going to the pageant, post rape.(therein lies the mystery.) It's as if she had a to-do list: 1.)attend the Miss Black america Contest 2.)Take the Chicken out of Freezer. 3.)Press rape charges against Mike Tyson. 4.)Go out on the Town with Rob and Moeisha. WTF? But you're right about Kobe, and what's funny is the fucker is still blowin up to the extent of shooting advertisements for Call of Duty Black Ops and other endorsements. Had it been me or you, well our asses with be hauled to Rykers, Lompoc or whatever Prison. The power of the Celebrity, I tell ya.
-
Am I the only one who doesn't like his "oblivious to everything" humor. One trick pony.
-
I'll never understand the huge success of the first one. Comedy was lame and predictable. I agree jonathan...can't stand Zack Gastroenteritis. If the dumbed-down humor wasn't bad enough, his Rain Man triumph at the end made me wish I had spent all my time enjoying a good vomit.
-
Ah, some love for The Party Animal. Love that fuckin' movie. Best. Soundtrack. Ever!!!
-
just not that funny unless you are have a low IQ while watching it. 40 y/o Virgin was much better, as was Dodgeball even..or Wedding Crashers. And both of those weren't excellent but very entertaining. Hangover tried to be too clever but it just was too forced and contrived and not funny.
-
Feb. 26, 2011, 10:58 a.m. CST
It's not that I didn't get it, it's that it's just mediocre...
by SK229
and for people who literally think ANYTHING eccentric (even without rhyme or reason) is funny. People acted like this was the second coming and to me, if you had a bar with, say, Trading Places, Animal House, Ghostbusters, National Lampoon's Vacation, What About Bob?... fuck me, even The Burbs and Captain Ron all occupying spots between a 7 and a 10 on the comedy gold scale... well The Hangover, Old School, and Knocked Up... I'm sorry, I place all of these at about a fucking 4-6. None of them even have the replayability of those movies, let alone the originality. Why is EVERY FUCKING SUCCESSFUL COMEDY NOW ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS, FRAT BOY HUMOR, OR HOW ALL THE CHARACTERS CAN'T GET LAID/NEED TO COME OF AGE? The only two recent notable exceptions I can think of are Zombieland and Tropic Thunder. I feel like we didn't know how good we had it with the Farrelly Brothers and Jim Carrey movies now that the predictable egotistical smugness of Apatow and his crew are comedy's gold standard. Sorry... if there's one area of weak sauce in movies today, I point all fingers at comedy.
-
First the movie will be great and I'll love it, but after it becomes too popular and the popular kids at school rave about it, I will hate it and continue to cut myself because no one will talk to me.
