New CAPTAIN AMERICA Pics! And What's Hugo Holding In His Hand?!
Nordling here.

Marvel Entertainment's released some new CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER pictures today, and they look glorious. I really dig the look of Cap in this film. The costume, to me, looks practical and if I were a bad guy I wouldn't want to see that coming at me, fists pumped and shield ready to dish out some serious pain.
I'm really excited at what Joe Johnston is doing here. I think this is actually going to surpass THE ROCKETEER for me in sheer enjoyment and old school action.
Now this next picture... ooh, what this means in the movie, I don't dare to guess...

More pics can be found here. Seriously can't wait for this.
Nordling, out.

They were in last months empire. Still dig 'em though.

Double yay!
-
Wow. Old. So Old. Thanks for the deflating boner...
-
Can't wait for this movie! 3 Marvel flicks and one DC! It's a great summer for a comic geek!
-
And Hugo Weavings about to crush it.
-
i don't know what that means.
-
These are from Empire Magazine and I think this website published these pics like 2 months ago. I get it, they're "official", but they're also old news.
-
Megatron's gonna be pissed.

.... iz zee cozmeek cupe! Gaartz! I am hoongree! Breeng me Volfgung Pook!"

...Michael Bay has talent? Fucking anywhere?
-
I emailed the bottom pic to Nordling as soon as it was left out of the last picture update. Scanned it myself... And also the pic of Stanley Tucci that is still missing from these updates?
-

by vulturess
thats why these pics exist in october of 2010.
-
Both out of sincerity and absolute spite towards those who behave as, and name themselves after, incredible douchebags... That costume is an amazing fucking homage to Brian Hitch's work on the Ultimates and looks fantastic.
-
to those posts ????

Just the way it is.
-
that's MISTER DOUCHEBAG to you
-
LORD AND LADY DOUCHEBAG
-
calm down dude!
-
He is the voice of Megatron isnt he?
-
but in this movie, it's going to be another macguffin (sp?) that changes hands and sides several times. think a 'computer disk' from any movie in the nineties and early 2000's. and you can bet your ass that it will be tossed around and sit on many a precarious edge before it falls into the earth, and maybe with a baddie or two along with it.
-
shoot or stab in the neck. smash face armor into bridge of nose and brain. i admit i don't read much captain america. isn't he just stronger and more atheletic/agile than the average dude? he's not superman or hulk strong, right? he's not bullet proof either (hence the shield). i want to see the movie and all, but cap'n just never appealed to me.
-
It is going to be interesting seeing IF Marvel can make its trademark Cosmic storylines work on film. Between the Cosmic Cube and The Destroyer (Built by Odin & the other "Sky Fathers", Zeus, Vishnu et al) and the Infinity Gauntlet (which was rumoured tobe in Thor) there are some pretty big steps being taken, beyond Iron Man and even Incredible Hulk.

ZOMBOT, IF YOU NEED A PREVIEW OF HOW CAP WILL FIGHT IN THE MOVIE
by J-Dizzle
Watch The Incredible Hulk. Cap will move and fight like Tim Roth's character since he was injected with the same Super Soldier serum (pre-transforming to Abomination).
-
that movie sucked
-
It means he can shape/distort reality. Anyway, The Matrix was filmed 13 years ago and Hugo looks younger now. WTF. And I hope to hell we get at least a good 45 minutes of Red Skull. I don't want his transformation or unvieling to be in the last ten minutes.
-
Are you really questioning if that's the cosmic cube? It's not. It's a decoy. He finds the cube a few minutes later.
-
I'm a fan of the Hulk "reboot" and you're right about the fighting style(hopefully). Also, the shot when the Hulk just fwaps Roth against a tree is awesome. That was some brutal shit.
-
of must see movies but I'll check it out nonetheless!
-
The whole plot centers around the fight over the patent rights.
-
Great suit design, absolutely love it!
-
Ohhh yaaa
-
"hrrmm I reckon so hrrrmmm. He ought not to done that to my nazi's hrrrrmm reckon you could fix me up some biscuits hrrrrmmm?"
-
how does one have one's "fists pumped?" I understand "pumping a fist" but not having them pumped. Explain.
-
This constitutes a first-order canon-violation.
-
I would assume the mask is damaged and ripped off quite often when he enters combat. I'm excited to see this, but the mask does look goofy.
-
And I like Daredevil. Sue me...
-
i mean seriously?
-
is that his bridal outfit?
-
all die laughing at him
-
" holy shit is that a clown coming after us? hee hee haw haw "
-
I mean... right? These came out weeks ago!
-
...until I accidentally burn all the hair and skin off my face with my own poison weapon." (This was an actual storyline during Mark Gruenwald's run on Cap's comic. MG did some great Cap stories.)
-
only so I could see his hooded mask bonded permanently to his head with his own superglue in a fight with Cap. THAT is classic crazy supervillain stuff! I see "Thunderbolts" is FINALLY addressing the plot point from "Captain America" months ago that Fixer (Techno is secretly conspiring with Baron Zemo II and betraying Cage's team.
-
Yes it works in a comic and in videogames, but not the silver screen. I would of went with a more conservative look, while still staying faitful to the original suit. To the non-comicbook fan, this suit is going to appear cheesy as hell.
-
and we don't even have a teaser (not counting that ass Super Bowl spot)
-
like i give a fuck about your opinion we get it : you love gay ass costumes and cock up your ass
-
KUDOS to him for his extremely hard work, dedication, creativity, brilliance and talented eye for bringing this to fruition and being the true creative genious behind this project. Seems like 2nd UNIT never gets the kudos or the credit even though this quite brilliant man who's career I've been following did a magnificant job in pulling off the dual role of 2nd Unit DP and 2nd Unit Director. If this film proves to be a success, a huge round of applause deserves to go to him, just as it should have also gone to him for his brilliant work in doing the dual 2nd unit job of DP and Director in Iron Man 2. A non pretentious and very modest man, but I look forward to more of his work on the screen. 2nd unit really needs more recongition!!!! Signed, a true fan
-
It's already been approved for public exhibition by varied film classification boards. Shouldn't be too long of a wait from now.
-
I mean...
-
don't you think it's about time you posted the new Thor trailer (from last week) and set photo (from today)? Set photo: http://www.slashfilm.com/thor-photos-character-posters/zz68d47d97/ Time to jump ship and just read Slash Film since they seem to be on top of things.
-
C'mon, man. When you say pictures are NEW, that would indicate that they have not been seen before. All of these have been seen before. Get with the program.
-
After his classic battle against Thanos? That would be a cool sci-fi film if they could stay true to the source!!
-
NOTHING! You're so STUPID!
-
Abs On The Cap Suit=Nipples On The Bat Suit
-
the plot to the avengers. i can see right through it.
-
...that they leave enough wiggle room in the story for further WWII-era films.
-
or his cock?
-
you stole my comment! At least we all know that Cap dresses to the left now. God bless America!
-
...but in this case I must. These pics are several weeks old! Better luck with the "scoop" next time.
-
I like it. I think people are losing perspective on the time period. The pouches, gun, & helmet are all perfect. The Pants and the Jacket/vest/Harness combo looks a bit weather beaten too and that also gives it a kinda period feel. I haven't seen a screen play or anything online so I only assume that it will finish with him being defrosted in the current decade. Then and only then, if he gets a new costume should it be close to the look everyone has in their heads from the comics. I'm sure a few things here and there will be added to a 'new' suit to butch it up a bit though...
-
however, once cap arrives in the 2000s, via cosmic cube or the obvious..suspended animation, maybe stark will provide him with different threads. still hoping for the chainmail shirt with buccaneer boots or maybe the ultimates look.
-
And in the Cheese-fest bind them! Cosmic. Hope it's half as much fun as The Rocketeer. But I'm not holding my breath. If this fails, and Thor goes south (the writing sucks just from the trailer - "puny weapon" - that's bad HULK dialogue from the 60's comics.), then there'll be NO Avengers film.
-
im pretty sure i saw the others weeks ago
-
Hayley Atwell consistently gave me the horn in 'The Pillars of the Earth'<p>...oh yeah she also seemed like a pretty good actress
-
At last! A costume where the hero can take a quick piss between ass-kicking! Take that, mister one-piece-bodysuit, Spiderman!
-
What's with this notion that the costume must look "practical"? Who cares? It (and 99% of every other comic book costume) has never in any of its 70 years looked remotely practical. Why start now?
-
It's not the shield taking damage, it's the paint job. The shield is indestructible, the paint on it isn't.

That would be pretty much what I'd expect someone going by the name of 'Captain America' to possibly look like. Although, it does look like someone had fun with duct tape on some of the parts of the costume. Still like it.

I liked the FEEL of the Rocketeer... the overall production design and atmosphere was fine... but let's be honest, the actual MOVIE ITSELF was a total snooze fest. Honestly, what the Rocketeer movie needed more of was...well, more Rocketeering. That's my biggest worry with this movie. I'm sure the money was spent in good ways... I'm sure the production designer and costume designer and cameraman... etc, etc, etc... all did their jobs... ...But, sorry, the biggest problem with THE ROCKETEER was Johnson himself, for failing as a director to realize the movie needed more "umphf" to propel it along. And if you think I'm wrong about Johnson's sense of pacing, just look at his failed WOLFMAN movie as further evidence. So I'll keep my fingers crossed For CAPTAIN AMERICA, but won't be surprised if it looks good, but ultimately disappoints as a movie that you can really get into. Oh yeah -- and I still think Cap's boots and gloves should be red too.
-
The irony of THE ROCKETEER? Forget Johnson dropping the ball with the direction. The BEST and most memorable thing to come out of that movie was James Horner's score. Now HE was firing on all cylinders when he scored that puppy!
-
This cap looks totally gay. There's still a tiny hope because Hugo is such a great actor he can save the movie itself.
-
they should make a "Shazam!" movie. Captain Marvel is one of the most underappreciated heroes in my opinion. His costume is this mix of "really gay" (per AICN standards) but also really awesome and "fuck you this is my costume". Especially when they use the body type from the 50s, when buff dudes were just thick dudes, and they put him in the one piece red suit with a white shoulder cape.

Thor looks terrible. Green Lantern looks terrible. XMen First Class *may* just be unique enough to work, but it's hard to say. But this looks pretty good thus far.

Johnston's "Rocketeer" was hampered by Disney's 90's politics
by Meinert Hansen
It was Joe Johnston's first feature, and Disney's fat paws were all over it, trying to make it 'family friendly' and politically correct, thus neutering it and making it less daring than it was intended. They were then stuck with a film they couldn't market, and released it the same time as 'Terminator 2.'
