The video game trailer for DEAD ISLAND could be better than any feature film trailer you see this year.

give it it's own little column, and with this and the DC Universe trailers being posted then maybe it will be on the way
-
Thats how you make a trailer!
-
It's a work of art on its own. Makes me want to check out the game but it's bound to be a dissapointment with how amazing the trailer is. Absolutely fantastic.

It's well executed and better than most vg trailers.
by pushthebuttonmax
But the animation and faces kind of fall into creepy valley. IGN was hyping this all day yesterday and honestly finding out it's another zombie game left me disappointed.
-
Just appreciate the trailer. Shame most zombie movies aren't as good as those few mins.
-
Hate the name of the game, but A+ on that trailer.
-
they did in 3 minutes what Walking Dead failed to do in 6 one hour episodes.
-
after watching that, I'm shaking. Predictable, yet still terribly affecting.
-
I gotta agree. That was a brilliant segment. Is it possible to get choked up about a zombie video game?
-
There are some awesome video game trailers out now that are much better then some of the stuff Hollywood is doing. Hell the Halo: Reach Deliver Hope trailer was one and the Deus Ex: Human Revolution one actually feels very cinematic.
-
Basically it's a rip off of the Gears of War Mad World trailer. The character models look ridiculously bad. Its like everyone has a dumb grin on their face all the time. The music doesn't fit in the slightest. So essentially its just a trailer played backwards in slow motion - and that makes it good? how exactly does that make it good? oh, because they're all happy at the end. omg thats so kewl doods! Also, i cant wait to see this game for real. i bet its going to be a huge pile of shit.

-
What about that newsworthy tidbit!!!!!!
-
I wish a movie was wrapped around that cinematic piece. That was one of the best game promos ever. I don't know who directed it but two thumbs up, 4 stars, and a full erection.... those are the only rating systems I know. Thanks.
-
for the typical AICN contrarian douchebags to show up...what would a talkback be without em? awesome trailer...and I hope the game is Dead Spacey...more moody exploration problem solving, less mind-numbing button mashing
-
I think hand drawn animated horror films would be a better option. They tried CGI gore in the Final destination films and it looks awful. But the hand drawn zombies from the original Heavy Metal film look great and were actually scary and that was 1980. Imagine what they could draw now.
-
I can see him kicking serious zombie ass in the Dead Island movie.
-
Feb. 16, 2011, 6:18 p.m. CST
yeah, Deus Ex does have some insanely good looking cinematics in that trailer
by stu_pickles
i especially like Rihanna's appearance as the hot cloaking chick.
-
come on, mang. lighten up
-
The character models look good. The music achieves exactly what I imagine they wanted it to to me. So essentially its just a trailer played backwards in slow motion, but seeing the struggle, the desperation and the personal risk they unflinchingly put themselves into to save something they are united in loving so much as is revealed when we see they're all happy at the end. Alright it's a completely batshit crazy scenario but it captures the love a lot of parents feel for their kids and the desperation and desire to protect them. First time I think I've ever been moved by a video game. Also, i cant wait to see this game for real.
-
This video game trailer was better than most live action films that get released in theaters. I just hope the actual game delivers, looks promising.
-
Michael Giacchino sounding score... <p> A fall out of glass high rise (ala Locke) <p> Beginning with a pull out from a close up of an eyeball... <p> Very well done trailer... but I can't shake the LOST vibe.

that things was awesome and made me wish for a full CGI batman movie with conroy in the lead
-
This was trying way too hard. The sappy, Sigur Ros/Lost soundtrack music, the flashback/reverse trick editing(another thing straight out of the Lost playbook), using a little girl to tug at the heartstrings (isn't there some unwritten rule about violence toward children in video games? I always assumed this is why you never see kids hanging out in Liberty City)... I mean, I get it. It's all about underlining that last moment, however, I was never thinking "wow this really gets to me" nearly as much as I was thinking, "wow, they're really trying to get this to get to me." Though a lot of that might be the whole uncanny valley thing, I'm sure. Effective? Sure, and better than most video game trailers. But brilliant/a masterpiece? Nah.
-
That was beautifully done! Best thing I've seen in a long time.
-
just took me out of it. but i do love that it's trying to be ambitious at least and take itself seriously. anyone else reminded of "irreversible" from a few years ago? (in addition to, of course, lost)

How the hell is this a ripoff of the Gears of War "Mad World" trailer?
by D.Vader
If you're going to toss out a ridiculous statement like that, I hope you can back it up, because the ONLY similarity between the two comes from the somber music used while juxtaposed against some horrific imagery. Other than that, you've got no basis for an argument, in my opinion. So I'm curious if melgibsoncalledmethenword can back up his claim?
-
too bad the quality of a game trailer has nothing to do with how good the end game product will be

It's amazing how little you guys know about gaming...this trailer is awful
by Mel
You guys are funny. What I love about this is that these are some no name devs who make crap games. This game will be a pile of shit. But what they did is that went out and copied other popular gaming trailers (which you idiots must not have seen). There are a lot of gaming trailers like this and they ripped them off. Oh they played it backwards.....big fucking deal. This trailer is nothing more than a gimmick. Can you honestly tell me you give a shit about the lousy game? No, you don't. You just think the trailer is so cool because it has sad music and its in slow motion and its backwards. Its fucking retarded. It's a gimmick.
-
"the ONLY similarity between the two comes from the somber music used while juxtaposed against some horrific imagery." Isnt that the entire trailer? Oh wait...they played it backwards, so its nothing like the gears trailer. OH man you got me. that makes it totally different. lol. Heres the big thing - when you're a talentless studio youre not allowed to try to do "artsy" trailers, especially if they're not original. do something then you can try. If this game was good we'd see gameplay.
-
On how this is a ripoff of the Gears of War trailer? Sure, playing it backwards is a gimmick, but you know what? Its an EFFECTIVE gimmick showing real moments of human action (and reaction) during extreme desperation. And it works.
-
That is better then any movie trailer I've seen this year
-
There's a lot more than that in the trailer. Gears of War's big sell is that the imagery onscreen matches the lyrics of the song. There is no human interaction in the Gears trailer. Just a guy walking around a derelict city. I may have said there's horrific imagery in the Gears trailer, but in reality, the only true horror comes in the final frames with the reveal of the big monster. Honestly, if your big piece of evidence is the somber music, then you don't have a strong argument. That's a similarity, yes, but hardly enough to qualify it as a ripoff.
-
And that's that the trailer is not indicative of the gameplay at all. But so what? The Gears trailers are great but showcase no gameplay either. Same with the Old Republic trailer. But they're fun to watch.
-
But games are allowing more freedom for realizing your imagination than movies. Plus no fragile actor egos to deal with.
-
This is what can happen if you put down your pie charts for just five seconds and engage your brains - you can come up with something original and memorable, rather than formulaic like the vast majority of everything that goes through your brain drain factory.
-
Had a pretty damn decent premier trailer as well.
-
this is a good trailer very emotional n rip off of gears....... gears trailer : guy wit chainsawgun walking around city , dead island: girl eating her father
-
I don't know how many of you that frequent this site have children...but if you don't, I don't think that trailer will have half the impact on you that it will have on a father.
-
"But what they did is that went out and copied other popular gaming trailers (which you idiots must not have seen). There are a lot of gaming trailers like this and they ripped them off." which games? cause if their trailers are as good i'd like to watch em. and take it easy with the idiot stuff. it makes you come across as dense and generally unlikable. which you most assuredly are, you piece of shit.
-
Seriously.
-
Mel Gibson by name , Mel Gibson by nature....
-
I've got a daughter and two sons. I cried. But I'm pretty weak when it comes to pain and hurt regarding children. So, not shocking to cry in my case. I was raped by a clown.
-
Unlike movies, video games have free license in the trailer department. They aren't going to make anything compelling by showing off the gameplay (even if the gameplay itself is compelling), so instead they just say fuck the actual game, let's sell this thing by just making up a independent kick ass mini movie/trailer. Movies unfortunately just limit themselves to the stuff that's in the movie. Viral marketing is changing that a bit, so maybe down the road we'll start seeing movies advertise by the filmmakers putting together wholly separate minis and trailers that feature sequences not actually in the movie, not sure if that's a good thing, but it'd make for interesting advertising.
-
Honestly, I spend most of my geek credits on game sites these days. Because they are the shit. I grew up a gamer but film fan first, and in the past decade that's flipped. This trailer is fantastic. Lots of game trailers have taken their lead from the Gears of War Mad World bit -- and yeah, though mel is trolling out his ass, Gears really did pioneer this modern interest in advertising a game for mood, not gameplay. I'm bummed AICN dropped its game column. Not just because I wrote for it. Well, partly that. Games are pretty damn relevant.
-
Which given that the name is Dead Island, is probably what they're going for. I would actually be down for some Walking Dead meets Lost.
-
Well done though.
-
Best trailer for a video game I think I've ever seen. Just sublime and beyond tragic. The ruthlessness of that trailer is what makes it so fucking brutal to watch. Wow.
-

And guess what kids. melgibson the aicn poster is exactly like the Mel Gibson in real life--a fucking cunt.
by elgato73
-
and that was exactly the point of the post in the first place. I have no issue with people that don't like it, but seriously, some people hate it like their ex-wife... no sure I understand the anger that some posters have for a freakin' video game trailer?! just pray they don't own a handgun...
-
And I mean that as a compliment. This is the kind of angst, pathos that I hope The Walking Dead series achieves in its next season.
-
it has a lot of work to do if it's going to get close to the quality of the books. It's already fucking things up...
-
The biggest cock-up was its first season finale, but as a fan and regular reader of the comic, I can understand why they did that finale -- they weren't sure if they would get a second season. However, people I know who love the series but haven't read the comics thought the season finale was cool. Anyway, next season, the series can now resume along the overall outline already laid out in the comic series.
-
Seriously.
-
If you think that's a terrible trailer you obviously have no creative or emotional bone in your body. Please show us a trailer that you made that comes close to that... heck, even an idea. Can't? Go figure. Whoever made that trailer should be given an award.
-
Blah blah blah... "it was gimmicky", "it was only good because it was backwards", "it was only good because it was slo-mo", "it was only good because it had piano music", geez, you might as well say it was only good because of all of the stuff that was good, lol. That was a friggin' fantastically edited trailer. No idea if the game itself is good but kudos to the marketing team. Anyone know the song?
-
...let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet. It's still just a trailer. The game itself could end up being a steaming pile. Yes, zombies are old now, but killing them in games never does. Also, I'm on board with more game news. AICN already does tabletop news (which I love by the way), but it would be cool to see more related to other forms of gaming. If you assholes can post shit about that fucking queer Justin Bieber, you can give us some gaming goodness news.

egon: I don't think we care about the game itself -- it's about the trailer
by Prof. Pop-Cult
The two DC Universe Online trailers are excellent as well. I myself am not much of a gamer these days. However, this Dead Island trailer, and the two DCUO trailers are very well made and stand alone as worthy CG-animated film shorts.
-
But maybe that's because I'm looking at it from a gamer's perspective. Like many others, I've been burned by shitty games that had cool trailers/previews. Game developers are just as guilty of it as studio heads are. I'm incapable of getting excited over these, even if they are very well made and creative. All I see is a marketing ploy, not an attempt to be viewed and recognized as a worthy animated film short.
-
Running in chronological order. And as much as I'd like to see a gaming section here, any previous attempts at them have been pretty awful around here.
-

egon: your guarded cynicism about the final game is understandable
by Prof. Pop-Cult
I myself already know that there is no way the actual game will look like this (nor will DCUO like its trailers). These trailers are slicked-up marketing, as you pointed out. But since I no longer game, I simply watch and enjoy the trailers as CG animated film shorts, and am surprised how well they stand on their own in this regard. In fact, maybe that's the best way they should be viewed -- ignore the game being pitched and see if the "trailer" works as its own work of art.
-
I seriously thought it would just go unfinished forever. I mean the Techland website had an under construction page for over a year. Good for them, I hope they polish it up and release it.
-
that I like the concept of the game. It's a first person game, but it's not a shooter. You don't get a gun. In fact, you don't get any real weapons. You defend yourself purely with found objects. Brooms, kitchen knives, baseball bat, etc...and things can get taken away from you, resulting in, most of the time, you just having to run the fuck away.
-

Is that all that fuck could do to protect his kid???
by sam jacksons wig
Depressing....... ...... I have seen shit with kids that would turn you white, and after a while people say that you become desensitised to it all..... ...that is bullshit. It never gets any easier. Try telling parents that their kids are terminally sick and see the reactions..... .....for your kids you fight until you die. You give your last remaining breath.
-
They have pictures of gameplay and it looks like the trailer. http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/100/100157/imgs_1.html Glad to see that a PS3 version has been announced, as this wasn't originally coming to that.
-

...the brilliance of the trailer is that it starts both at the end and the beginning of the sequence. We see the ending so we know what will happen to the little girl running from the zombies, and as we see her parents' struggle being played backwards, we know their fight will be fruitless. Both ends work towards the middle shot of the girl's father finding his infected daughter. I've never seen any medium tell a story this way, and while the game will likely disappoint, it was worth it just for this little work of art we have here. The game will probably be erased from my memory just seconds after it's released, but I don't think I can forget this trailer.
-
that got my attention (for the game)
-
Face facts...vainly trying to protect the kid, who then becomes the threat, was in the original "Night of the Living Dead" movie.
-
... s'fucked up ... going home to give my baby girl a hug & buy a shotgun
-
Despite the douche bag like delivery of your thoughts, your assessment has some merit. Some.
-
Despite many times seeing this done purely for effect, this actually sets up a nice emotional thread before chaos sets in that I think works nicely. I agree with your point about the spottiness of the CGI although it didn't kill it for me. And yes.. I'm now equally as douche-y for hitting the wrong keys on my laptop and committing part of my actual post to the subject matter line. Life goes on...
-
If it were for a movie or TV show maybe I'd watch it. But it's for a game and it in no way makes me want to play it.
-
Great trailer, extremely compelling to see this terrible moment as a family is destroyed unravel backwards.<p> Also is it wrong to try and catch a glimpse of zombie bikini girl's cleavage?
-
And that's such a good change.

Dead Island has been "in development" for the last FIVE years...
by Jim Jam Bongs
And they release this trailer yesterday (which as others are arguing is indeed a fantastic film short on its own), which has been generating great buzz. But I doubt this buzz is carrying over to the game itself. Frankly, I would rather read about the guys who created this trailer, whom I am guessing are not directly involved with the making of the game itself.
-
The game's obviously going to be complete shit. The Polish team who are making it previously made 'Pet Racer' and 'Pet Soccer'. You don't need to even look at a screenshot of either of those to know how shit they must be.
-
Feb. 17, 2011, 6:42 a.m. CST
Screw the game. The growing buzz for this on the Web is about the trailer itself.
by Jim Jam Bongs
If I worked for a Hollywood talent agency, studio or production company, and it turns out that the people behind this trailer are just a small team who haven't done anything major in TV or films, then I would stalk them down pronto to chat with them. But I wonder if this was trailer was contracted out to a major CG animation house, perhaps Digital Domain, because it exudes a sheen of baked-in cinematic professionalism, experience and know-how.

If the game does well, we'll see the movie come out in two years tops. Who ever owns the rights, please read: No matter what they say or promise, DO NOT sell this to anyone who is affiliated or mentions the names Uwe Boll or Paul W.S. Anderson. Great Trailer! I can't see how this game can improve on games already established like Left for Dead or Dead Rising.
-
Dead Rising was a game I really wanted to love, but never did. I didn't dig the controls, felt like you were moving in molasses. Haven't played part 2. Left for Dead 1 and 2 were fun though.
-
That was emotional and stunning.
-
<p>Yes, zombie bikini girl had implants.</p> <p>The mom didn't help much because she was in shock at seeing her daughter turn in to a zombie as fast as she did.</p> <p>On the ground where the girl lands, behind the burning zombie, you can barely see a guy attacking more zombies with a baseball bat. THAT is probably who you will be playing in the game.</p>

zombielicker: It's the people who made the trailer who should be commended.
by Prof. Pop-Cult
The cynical side of me says the game itself has little emotional impact compared to the trailer, which is a film short in its own right. People are buzzing about the trailer, not the game. As JJ Bongs pointed out, I would like to know who made the trailer. I will be rather disappointed if it was produced by a bigshot animation house, like Digital Domain (which has a division that handles trailers and cut scenes for games), and not by a gang of talented nobodies who deserve to have the film industry knocking on their door with offers. For example, maybe the trailer producers could be hired to work on The Walking Dead in some capacity -- to lay out storyboards for action sequences.
-
I almost never post here but this pisses me off. This "great" game trailer is a conceptional rip-off of the short film http://www.spyfilms.com/#/arev_manoukian/canadian/nuit_blanche Even even the girl busting through the glass is the same...
-

Game trailers are usually not produced by the game developers
by Jim Jam Bongs
A trailer like this, which doesn't feature actual gameplay footage, is usually farmed out to an outside company. I suspect that's the case here. So who are the people, company, behind it is what I want to know? Fuck the game.
-
I've seen that short before and it's good, but what is similar about it to the Dead Island trailer? (Ooh -- it features shattering glass! Therefore, "rip off"?) Looks like you are just trolling to promote this short.
-
somebody please give this director some money for a real movie!!!!
-
I forwarded the YT link to someone I know at Disney's digital animation department. He thinks based on its artistic style it could be from an animation studio in Glasgow named Axis. Said he'd ask around as to confirm who made it.

Here's a trailer for a game that is practically a movie
by Out of your element
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skAkfQr3e-4 And I hope Dead Island turns out to be as story based and open-ended as they're claiming it to be. Awesome trailer though. Mel Gibson, like my balls, asshat.
-
So the game trailer has altered music from the old short film (that I am not trying to promote) and no one seems the notice.... viggeo_morgenstein did you have something to do with producing this game trailer? You seem to have taken my comparison with it to an old short film personally.
-
shitty cgi cutscenes played backwards? and you guys love it? whatever
-
Oddly similar to Palmiotti/Gray's The Lost Resort. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=22004
-
The "I've seen it before" argument pops up frequently around here but the truth is, it happens all the time in practically every creative field from the movie biz to the restaurant biz. People go to school or take an apprenticeship or read books to learn about the works of others so that they can add established techniques into their own tool chest of creative ideas. If someone borrows an idea from someone else, good for them. It shows they're studying and learning and honing their craft. Hopefully they're on a path to producing greater works in the future. The important question is "how well did they execute" not "where have I seen that before."<BR><BR> This was a well planned and executed trailer. From the many questions that are raised starting with the first image we see to all the tragic reveals, to the self contained story and different characters and their actions and reactions, the editing, pacing, lighting etc. It's all well done. On a related note, it's not really fair to compare CG/game trailers to live action. CG allows you to be as precise as you want. You can move the camera a fraction of a inch, add/remove/place objects with ease and do as many "retakes" with different variations as you want until you get it perfectly. Editors who do live action have to make do with what they have.
-
lotto, you said you hardly ever post here - pls don't take Viggeo's comments as meaning... well anything at all (the guys a well-known troll).<p> Nothing exists in a vacuum and I think most talkbackers find it interesting to see what may or may not have 'influenced' this piece.<p> You didn't deserve to be told to 'f off' and you certainly didn't deserve to be called a 'spammer' - I think anyone with eyes can see that you made two posts while Viggeo is on two dozen.<p> He's the trolling spammer not you. So pls go ahead and post whenever you want - dont be dissuaded by viggeo the village idiot.
-
Yep, it's them. They are based in Glasgow, Scotland. (This has been just confirmed by others -- Google for the news.) Nordling, maybe you could see about interviewing the director of the trailer? Axis has PR contact info on their site. (I think it's just axisanimation.com.)
-
I approve of this. Looks slick, trailer is awesome, and I can never have enough zombies. As long as there are some challenges to the game and not just FPS.....BOOOOM HEADSHOT. I am down.

There are a lot of good game trailers, but this specific one has struck a chord for some reason.
by Prof. Pop-Cult
Yes, it does look -- especially upon repeated viewing -- to be inspired by obviously Memento and LOST (and the music of Michael Giacchino). There's nothing wrong with these inspirations as the trailer does a good job paying homage to them, I would argue. And those of us here are not a niche who dig it: as evidenced by its YouTube viewings, it's becoming a viral hit in less than 24 hours of its release. I think what it does and demonstrates well is the power of editing -- how editing can shape a narrative. Watch the version of the trailer that's cut in sequential order and set at normal running speed. Both versions have a definite start, middle and end, but in each, these three points are different, and the emotional result is different. If you can manage to interview the director, Nordling, I'd be curious to know if this trailer was originally conceived to play in sequence order, or if it was conceived from the start to be out of order.
-
pieces like 'Rita Sue & Jonesy' if thats the one im thinking of. Pretty darn beautiful all the same though.

Um... people are liking this trailer because it feels like it has nothing to do with video games
by Prof. Pop-Cult
I myself haven't touched a console game in several years. This trailer hasn't made me interested in the game it's supposed to be advertising. I just like the trailer on its own, and most feel the same. So ironically, it may actually not be selling the game well.

Nothing says, "I need to play this game now" like the death of a child

Creepy and sad in equal amounts. That's pretty hard to pull off. I like how they played the scenes in reverse. It immediately caught my attention.

I got the stuff played in reverse, but it didn't seem to line up with the forward stuff

Look at some early cutscenes from Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill, Onimusha 3, etc.
by openthepodbaydoorshal
And you will see some brilliantly edited and realized mini movies.

All I hear is the lovers hating on the haters, so... I guess we all lose. I'm not saying it isn't interesting and different for a video game; it is. I'm just saying that it's reeaally not original -- and not just in a "I'm just repurposing one or two ideas to create my own" way, but... blatantly mimicking Lost, from the opening eye shot, to the shattered glass fall, to the sappy music, to the flashbacks... it's more than a little too close for comfort. Also, since we're all hating here for shits and giggles, this is for all of you "Fuck Hollywood, THIS is how you make a movie" guys: Sounds great. Oh wait... good luck getting people to pay to watch your two minute movie. Anyone can make a decent trailer out of a shite movie/game. FOX alone has made a fortune by doing this. Not to mention, try watching 120 minutes of this gimmick and not have your brain hemorrhage.

Looks promising. Hopefully it will be a "serious" zombie game.
by lv_426
I like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising as much as the next shambling corpse, but I think it is time for a serious take on the undead when it comes to games. I'm still waiting for an epic Fallout/Elder Scrolls or Mass Effect style zombie-themed action/RPG. Maybe Dead Island will be a step in that direction? Although my dream zombie game is a video game adaptation of World War Z done in a Call of Duty style, namely where the narrative shifts back and forth between various characters and locations around the globe.

For a game DEUS EX HUMAN REVOLUTION This one was made by the company making the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhqYBKZRg5I

Who gives a fuck if it is "Too close to LOST"?? It is a great trailer. BOTTOM FUCKING LINE. It doesn't matter if this leads to a shitty game, or a lackluster game, or if it's borrowing from this or that. It's fucking moving and interesting and well done. The problem with geeks, the real problem with geeks, is that they over analyze EVERYTHING, and seemingly can't just sit the fuck back and enjoy something in the moment.
-
I'm pissed that they delayed it. Now it might not come out until next near or later this year.

monolithik, I thought the same thing; just like Lost except with Zombies
by THE_CHOPPAH
and even that is kind of a rip-off too with all the dead people showing up on the island.
-
If that was the filmmakers intent, then kudos to a job well done!
-
Because you're putting up like 80% of the articles now.
-
At first I thought the little girl jumped on her dad's back for protection and he accidentally blasted her out of the window when he lurched backwards. But I guess she attacked him? I'll watch again. Regardless of the game's quality I think they did a fine job. As a piece of "teaser" advertising I think it's artful and really effective. Interesting music, too.
-
I am functionally retarded.
-
Great trailer but it borrowed heavily from this piece done a while back. Right down to the melody and smashed glass from 1:15 in. Just watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVuUwvUUPro

Video Games are starting to take over Movies. In term of Story and Quality.
by Orionsangels
Then we get the crappy Hollywood version with a big name actor and they butcher the whole thing.
-
mr ahole ramirez, 'Dead Iceberg" continues and all the zombies have football shirts with the 'numbers' on them... and Walt's there for some reason... and then it jumps back in time to when Desmond was happy with Penny... and then back to the present with zombies eating Claire and Aaron. Fuck it their story arcs went nowhere anyway.<p> Oh yeah... FUCK YOU JACOB!!!!
-
I'll admit the trailer was effective for what it's intended to do--sell video games. The motion control is flat-out amazing. I just find it troubling to sell such things by showing dead, bloody children...and watching their death in slow motion. Have we become so jaded that we now have to show kids getting violently murdered? Just a thought.
-
Yep. The video game industry is sooooo uplifting.
-
Seeing the death of a little girl may have been pushing it, but to me she died from an infection. The trauma wasn't enough to kill her but the infection did and she died in her father's arms. In fact the two timelines converge to her last moment of being alive. The reverse version she is dead and the forward version she is alive. The fact that her last sight is of her father trying to save her and then we get flashes of her latest happy memories is how I interpreted the ending. I thought the trailer was great for what it was, a subplot to flesh out the horror happening all over the island.

I don't give a SHIT if the game's good. That trailer was badass.
by Larry Sellers
-
As much as I love the zombie genre, this shit is getting overexposed and a bit played out.Dead Rising failed to impress me just like the previous efforts (Zombie apocalypse,CoD Zombies, etc.) especially compared to the excelence that was the Resident Evil series (i'm talking games, not Anderson's clusterfuck movie adaptations.) which revitalized said genre back into the mainstream. Capcom's Shinji Mikami's praised is well deserved.
-
You can't blame it on the VG Industry. After all, if you had the chance to see Romero's Dawn of the Dead in which Peter (the protagonist of the film.) mows down both a Zombie girl and boy via M-16. I don't seem to recall having to kill zombie kids in RE, but if you wish to codemn the industry on murdering children, look no further than both Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2 for hard evidence. But note, it's just a game and not reality. If anything, you should scoff at the Movie industry for putting out shit like A Serbian Film which involves baby raping/murder.Oh, by the way, Harry feels it is one of the best films of 2010. (0:'
-
Looks good. The only zombie game I like is Dead Space but I might have to pick this one up.
-
The game could be crap.
-
Or Claire?
-
A friend of mine, who knows I love all things zombie, replied... How can you find such enjoyment in these end of the world movies and games? My reply.... *evil grin*
-
A. Statues of Robocop are to Detroit B. Gold Medals are to the Special Olympics C. 18 year old bleach blonde bimbos are to Hugh Hefner D. Vampires are to shitty novels for teen girls E. All of the above
-
Can you imagine if that was a film trailer? HOLY FUCK-HOLES!

"Nothing says, "I need to play this game now" like the death of a child"
by Smack_Teddy
wise words perhaps Choppah. What makes this trailer so great also as a videogame trailer is it sets up that notion: you have roleplaying right to go f--ing ferral apeshit! Human Middleclass Parent Going-on-a-Holiday-now-my-babies-dead Rage vs Zombie Rage! <p> Hopefully thats what will set this apart from other Zombie games (Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 are the benchmark right now i guess)
