New Bruce Campbell Project!
Hey folks, Harry here. I guess I'll be filling in ol Cosmico's shoes till the bastard gets back from his journey of self-discovery with cacti in South America. He's in the process of experimenting with the functionality and computer speed that certain mushroom fungi has in motherboards. He's weird that way. In the meanwhile... I'm here to torture you and be the bloated sell-out you all want me to be. So... here's a ditty on Bruce Campbell's latest. In addition he's been working on a documentary. For more on Bruce, check out Bruce-Campbell.Com...
There's a bunch of stuff coming up
that I think AICN coax readers would be interested in.
In particular, this
brand new Bruce Campbell half-hour show thats going to begin airing in a
month! I'm sure you've heard of Jack of All Trades (and its companion show
Cleopatra 2025) but I bet alot of coax readers know very little about it.
Basically, these two shows are part of a 'Back-2-Back' syndicated hour of
comedy, action and adventure to replace Hercules (now that its been
cancelled). I've spoken to Josh Becker, the director of the pilot and 2nd
episode of Jack, and he's had some great words to say on it: "It's the first
out-and-out comedy Renaissance Pictures has made. It takes place in 1803 and
Bruce and Angie play early secret agents. Angie Dotchin is astounding--she's
beautiful from absolutely every angle and a terrific actor, too. She
completely holds her own with Bruce, which ain't so easy. I directed the
first two episodes, although my second one might be shown third. They turned
out really well, me thinks. Quite frankly, I think Renaissance Pictures has
another hit show with "Back To Back." This isn't PR bullshit Glen, this looks
like a genuinely fun and original hour of programming coming our way.
Definitely something that the AICN readers would be interested in. We should
get some interest going now so it starts out well in the ratings. For more
info., check out this site:
And if you put up a page on this news, might want to include this super-cool
pic of Bruce from the show:

...anyone remember Brisco County Jr? I'm not saying a campy comedy based in the past can't be funny, but I can't help but wonder if the non-fanboys will tune in. Of course, if they do, and that Cleopatra 20?? turns out to suck... Remember when Hercules was part of the "Action Pack" before Xena? When the second half of the Action Pack seemed to change almost every month??? Ah well, I'll tune in, 'cause if this show takes off maybe Campbell and Raimi will throw a party to celebrate, get real drunk, and descide to make Evil Dead 4! (Well, I can dream at least.)

Anyone can ask him a question at beckerfilms.com. Regardless, kudos to you for getting AICN to finally print something about the series. It's going to kick ass.

aint running time out on dvd today?
anyone recommend it cos the premise sounds pretty kick ass -
Aside from the fact that your an asshole for doing that whole I'm first crap, especially when your second, shut the fuck up about the forums. No, seriously, move on with your life you prick. Another thing, quit plugging your fucking website, so far you have given that shitfest 3 plugs. I swear to Vishnu, if you whine about the forums one more time, I'm gonna sit here and get madder (cause I can't do much else). Come to my site, blah blah blah, long live the forums. Damn, shouldn't you be stocking the shelves at Happy Harry's! Also, I have enourmous hands, so it looks like I have a mammoth penis. Dear Mr. Jesus what am I to do, please don't tell my mommy that my daddy hits me too. Bet no one else remembers that commercial.
-
Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing you there at Beckerfilms. Hope to see you again. Anyway, Jack & Cleo will most likely fill whatever timeslot Hercules is now shown in your local area, since Back 2 Back is replacing Herc. (Also, I totally agree with the people who liked Brisco County)

Dear Big Jim Slut: In most cases I would respond to your childish rant in an apocalyptically severe, "cancel Christmas, motherfucker" manner. However, I realize that you are merely a stereotypical TalkBack nimrod and those of us who lie on the higher end of the evolutionary ladder (such as myself and Robster), shouldn't look down upon your savage, unrefined ways. Who are we to judge if that's the only form of debate you truly know? The Forums are indeed still open at the link Rob has provided, and I invite anyone who wants to partake in our nutty escapades to do so. We could always use some fresh new voices. As a reformed ex-TalkBacker myself, I can assure that it's more fun than a barrel of LaneMyerses (LaneMyersii?). By the way, Jimbo, did you like the "Big Jim Slut" bit? Hee hee hee. That's TalkBack humor for you!

I was going to post and rage in the Talk-Back under El Cosmico's latest lame-ass posting, but I think that it's more appropriate here. Note that in his absence, we have two, count 'em, two articles that are informative and understandable. Nothing about DVDs and no rambling diatribes that make no sense whatsoever. Let us all hope that El Cosmico finds himself and decides to stay with whatever indigenous peoples he takes up with or, at the very least, he finds a new calling.

Fitting name for a Bruce Campbell talkback. HAIL TO THE KING, BABY! still the best computer game ever.....anywho, whats your problem with DVD articles? Cable and TV is a waste of time. Turn off the idiot box if you aint watching THE SIMPSONS. I'd much rather read articles on upcoming DVDs. I think it would be cool if AICN turned Coaxial into nothing but DVD reviews and previews. Only 5 more months until FIGHT CLUB comes out on DVD....

Its calles Ashes 2 Ashes (clever huh), and I think Bruce is doing some voices in it as well. This is probably as close as we will ever get to Evil Dead 4.

Here's the short, uneventful story of how I got Bruce's autograph. Let's just say a friend of a friend was sort-of seeing Ted Raimi for a while. He was in Nova Scotia (east coast of Canada, you Americacentric Geography failures) for a Sci-Fi Con, and my friend told him how much of a Bruce fan I was. So he called Bruce, got him to sign a picture, and it would get to me somehow. Ted went to New Zealand for "Xena", then went back to L.A. Oops! He forgot my picture in N.Z.! So the fantastic Mr. Campbell PAID to courier it to L.A., then Ted PAID to courier it to me in Halifax. Now I am the proud owner of a picture of Bruce that sez "To Blake, my only true friend. Bruce Campbell" Kick ass, huh? I'll tell you my Donny Osmond story later!
-
Let's just say that when one has a show that lets Bruce Campbell do what Bruce Campbell do what he does best - kick ass and spout wicked one-liners, you have a winning concept. Jack Of All Trades, from what little I've seen of it looks like a real winner. For fans of Bruce's work, this is a perfect vehicle for him. If they can keep the concept running, it should be a great show. I've not heard anything of Cleopatra 2525, but my reaction is a bit mixed based on the concept. However, I'll reserve judgement on that until I see it.
-
...Bruce Campbell's guest shot on the X-Files? The episode was mediocre, but his performance was cool as a Yuppie demon who wanys a normal baby. On another note, I feel really damn old. I remember seeing the very first Action Pack movie (Hercules and the Amazon Women) back in 1994. Has it really been only five years since the beginning of Action Pack? And there was the new Bandit series and Time Trax and Vanishing Son and you were there and you were there and so were you, Auntie Em, oh there's no place like... um... yup, I'm definately getting old. Peace.
-
Hey Shadwell, would it be funny if I called you shagwell, or sagswell? Of course not, it's lame. Almost as lame as Big Jim Slut. "Hey everyone I am refined, look at me, I am magical. I like little boys. I'm a refined little, bourgeoisie Nazi." Guess what Shadwell, we don't care about your sexual desires, that's your business. Now stick to your own battles son, else I have to fist your asshole! Guess I really showed you huh... uhhhh maybe not.
-
Jeez, you'd think there'd be all sorts of filmmakers running over each other to hire Bruce. Apparently not. Ok Brisco was all right, but that Xena?Hercules crap blows. Bruce needs to get some more movies on before he gets too old.
-
Don't forget Knight Rider 2000. An instant classic.
-
Think this could be the GOOD update of Wild Wild West we've been waiting for? After all, the plots are certainly familiar, just different time period. I just hope Jack does great and Cleopatra 1999 or whatever sucks so it can be expanded to an hour. And Brisco County Jr. Kicked ASS! Maybe Action Pack could bring it back for a while. I watch the reruns on TNT... when I can find it. (lousy schedule changing TV exec bastards grumble mumble...)

Got the opportunity to meet "the bruce" at a convention a while back, and I must say that he is truly an icon. Wish he could land some mainstream roles in Hollywood, but maybe thats part of the appeal of the man. Honestly, I'll give anything a chance with him a chance on anything he does, whether it be TV, Movies, or even public office, for that matter. While I'm ranting, does anyone else in here think old Bruce would be perfect as the next Superman? He's got the look, the presence, and the chinline.... Anyone? Anyone.....?
-
What the hell? did I just studder on that last one?
-
After reading all the comments on Bruce Campbell, it seems to me that he could play just about every comic character out there. He's been suggested for everything from Superman to Batman, to even Spiderman! I've seen him suggested for Wolverine (X-Men), Reed Richards (Fantastic Four), Die Flatermaus and even the Tick himself! Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but everytim he takes a role, everyone asks why he didn't take all the other roles!

kkrankk says: JACK will suck and CLEO 2525 will blow and here's
by kkrankk
I love Bruce but face facts: JACK won't be a good ripoff of WILD WILD WEST because it's obviously a ripoff of ZORRO. Plus, he's stuck in one location (keeps production costs down) and the "villian" is Napoleon's brother. Wow. I'm shivering with anticipation. Napoleon's brother? Really? Maybe the season cliff-hanger will feature... gasp...NAPOLEON himself!!! Anyway, the 3 chicks in CLEOPATRA 2525 look okay but is 30 minutes enough time to tell good futuristic stories about humans trying to topple established alien invaders? Doubtful. For a moment I assumed the title character would be a woman of color but no such luck; she's a plucky blonde dancer from the early 21st century who can teach the other two chicks about table dancing for groady old men. XENA's excellence is more consistent than most tv shows and HERCULES was almost always a pleasant romp, but don't hold your breath waiting to be astounded by JACK or CLEO.
-
I think I might have to agree with that statement as to why Jack-of-all-Trades will bomb given its setting. Other than the Napoleonic Wars, the only really relevant thing going on in the early 19th Century was precisely "Jack." It is one of the most boring periods of world history unless you're a war re-enactor. Brisco County at least had the "Wild West" as a setting, which was exciting, and most importantly, it's core American audience could relate to and immediately get. I wish Renaissance and Bruce Campbell well, but I think it was a bad idea. I'll watch it when it comes out, though.
Heh, and as for the Wild Wild West, that movie sucked more dick than Jon Peters and his father did to get him his job. The Jonah Hexx flashback episode of Batman: the Animated Series was everything that movie could have been, and it only took 30 minutes of my time.
Bruce Campbell as Superman? Let's hope not. Even if Jon Peters (the guy who wanted Brainiac to have a gay robot lackey)didn't have his grubby little tentacles on it, I couldn't see him as the Man of Steel. Kevin Sorbo might work, though. Hell, he's a big enough guy to play The Tick!
