GRANDMASTERS Wong Kar-Wai in talks for Distribution!

Nordling here.

Dying to see THE GRANDMASTERS, as I love the work of Wong Kar-Wai and I love the subject matter.  IP MAN's fantastic, one of my favorite martial arts films of all time, and although I haven't seen the sequel yet I'm chomping at the bit to do so.  This is Kar-Wai's first martial arts film, and he's got a terrific cast (Tony Leung, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen) to boot.

Megan Ellison's Annapurna Productions is in negotations to bring THE GRANDMASTERS statewside, according to Hollywood Reporter.  I hope this happens.  Ellison's been in the news a bit lately; she's a billionaire heiress who has decided to try her hand at film production.  She's going to finance Paul Thomas Anderson's next two projects, thus earning my gratitude for sure.  If she is to be an advocate for film artists everywhere, and with the money at her disposal, the math equals really great films for us movie geeks, and I'm thankful someone is going to use that money to putting art out there.  She's already a major force in film distribution and her production company is about to make a huge mark on Hollywood.

Nordling, out.
