Forgive The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day, your majesty. It is a vulgar man, but I assure you its music is not.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
I love me some make-up pictures, especially when they feature living legend Dick Smith. Smith took movie make-up to a whole new level with films like Little Big Man, The Exorcist and today’s featured film, the great Milos Forman drama AMADEUS.
Amadeus is one of those rare Awardsy type biopic dramas that is both incredibly engaging emotionally, but also hilariously funny. God, I love this movie and I love Smith’s work on the old age Salieri make-up.
Below you’ll see two different shots of the man putting a good 40 years on F. Murray Abraham. If you guys want to know more about Smith and his make-up course, visit his website here!
Hope you guys enjoy!

The behind the scenes pic will be back.

F. Murray Abraham just narrated this great pbs Nature documentary
by Jesiah
It was about animal offspring and I really enjoyed it. It was sad to see this one monkey like mammal abandoning her young because it was too sick; she kept leaving and coming back, you could tell she was conflicted about leaving her child but she had no other recourse and couldn't nurse the baby back to health. Since the mother abandoned it, I wonder if the film crew are allowed to take the baby in since the mother has pretty much given up, and technically they wouldn't be interfering with nature.
-
His worked helped to inspire me to become a makeup effects artist as well. Truly a legend!
-
If you like movie makeup so much, why don't you marry it?
-
I liked being able to look at all the ones I'd missed. I guess that feature is gone, like Scriptgirl and post 0.
-
I love his grudge against God... I'd have been pissed too.
-
great song and this was a great film
-
Oo Oo Dr Zaius
-
(yes they finally made a monkey) out of me!
-
What an amazing fucking movie. And some of the best make-up ever.
-
which incarnation i wonder
-
I thought it was from Three Men and a Little Lady when Sam Malone has the old man makeup on to pretend he's a priest at the wedding.
-
That never gets old.
-
Danny told me not to trust you. He said you killed Mozart. Moe who? Zart. I kill a lot of people Jack.. I'm thinking tomorrows Arnold pic will segue right into last action hero. As it should
-
I echo those comments about this being the greatest movie ever to me as well. Tell us Herr Mozart, tell us about proper German virtues. Love, sire. Ahh LOVE, yes in Italy we know nothing about love. No, I don't think you do. Watching Italian Opera... all those male sopranos screeching, stupid fat couples ROLLING about.. that's not love.. that's just RUBBISH! B

What F.Murray Abraham maybe have given the best performance maybe any actor has ever given....in my eyes. What a great flick...and well..well...there it is.
-
good Lord.
-
this has nothing to do with this thread. I just finished Battlestar Galactica. What the fuck was with all the negativity surrounding the finale. It was FUCKING AWESOME. I was a Lost fan and I was pissed off by that finale. But this BSG was great. someone explain why the fuck people had a problem with it.

James Bond Will Return; The Terminator Will Be Back.

I echo all those showering praise on this perfect film. One DVD I have proudly in my collection. Pity Milos Forman doesn't direct a bit more often - he is second to none. Only a great director could direct an absolute masterpiece like this and you're still not sure if it's his best - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is great competition for the top spot! Perfect films in every respect.

If you are wondering why F. Murray Abraham never made it big
by TheHumanBeingAndFish
... listen to the JJ Annaud commentary track on the "Name of the Rose" DVD. After "Amadeus", Abraham went to do the criminally underrated "The Name of the Rose", and his acting is brilliant and superb in that film as well. Sure he's a brilliant actor, but according to that director's commentary track, he was also insufferable, supremely arrogant, and near-impossible to work with.
-
...I'll be Back! As far as Amadeus goes...classic in every sense of the word.

AMADEUS also happens to look freakin' amazing on Blu-ray....
by jawsfan
but the version you will get is the Director's Cut and not the original theatrical cut. Having seen both a number of times, I prefer the theatrical cut. The Director's Cut does show us Elizabeth Berridge's boobies, though.
-
The Directors cut was very irritating. It only added one scene, but it kind of ruined Salieri's character. They Should have left it out. It's a shame.
-
How is it that they could the old man make up effect so perfect in this movie, and yet old person makeup almost 30 years later looks so damn cheesy? Amazing.

Abraham was the subject of one of the only good jokes in THE LAST ACTION HERO
by Yaroh_Meringue
...where the kid told Arnold to not trust him because he killed Mozart.
-
Very early in his career he caught his ring on a piece of wood that caused a serious infection. A plastic surgeon removed the finger and some bones in the hand, narrowing the width of his hand giving him what he calls his "Mickey Mouse hand." The man is truly one of films greatest artists and the inspiration to many make-up artists working today.
-
The fact that there were loose strings that never got tied up properly, and you had everyone ditch their technology and send their starships into the sun... all because the Good Idea Fairy visited Lee Adama. No one could agree with anyone else on that show, and then all of a sudden they thought THAT was a good idea? Seasons 1 & 2 were perfection. 3 & 4 got off course, and the finale failed to bring it back.
-
Looks like Smith used HIMSELF as a model for the old Salieri! Like looking in a mirror, indeed. Just saw 'Little Big Man' again last week. That is one nutty little flick. I love it more each time I see it.
-
should it be allowed? to some extent, i'd say yes, but a serious asshole gets tiresome quickly, and has no one else to blame, for any negative responses they get, but him/her SELF. i'll not be shedding tears for them
-
The reason is quite simple. The man applying the makeup is quite frankly the greatest living prosthetician and one of the pioneers of the process ....and a hell of a nice guy.
