Trailer for ARTHUR Remake... Where's The Drunk?

I realize some of you aren't seeing the ARTHUR trailer.  I pulled the embed directly from this link, so I'm not sure why you're not seeing the trailer.  I'm watching it on Internet Explorer and it's playing fine for me, but click the link to watch it on the Sun website.  No one's screwing with you, although it does seem pretty funny that an animated rabbit movie trailer's playing for you instead.  Thanks.

I love the original ARTHUR.  Dudley Moore and John Gielgud make me laugh every time I see it, which is pretty pften.  I watch it at least once a year.  One of my favorite comedies of all time.  And so damn quotable too, especially when Arthur and Hobson get together: "Baths are wonderful  Girls are wonderful!" "Yes, imagine how wonderful a girl who bathes would be."  Don't get me started or I'll quote the whole damn thing to you.

Russell Brand and Helen Mirren are playing Arthur and Hobson respectively in the remake, the trailer which came out today and can be watched here:

My thoughts?  Looks mildly amusing.  But did they rewrite the film so that Arthur's not a drunk anymore?  Is this what political correctness has wrought?  What's great about the original is that it didn't make any judgments about Arthur's alcoholism  - sure, maybe the film came from a simpler time, but Arthur was always a good man at heart with a drinking problem.  Funny, it actually let the audience decide about that aspect of the character.  But I highly doubt this new film will compete with the rich, hilarious dialogue of the original:

"My mother died when I was six."

"Son of a bitch!  Don't they... don't they know what they do to kids?"

"My father raped me when I was twelve."

"So you had six relatively good years.  Hey, my father screwed me too."

If there's anything like that in this new one, maybe it'll stand a chance.  I doubt it, though.
