Julia Roberts to star as The Evil Queen in Tarsem's THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE!
Hey folks, Harry here...
Now, first off - I hate THE BROTHERS GRIMM: being tacked on to SNOW WHITE. I'd prefer the title to be SNOW WHITE - with a possesory THE BROTHERS GRIMM'S above it, but not directly tied to the title. There's just something dead about having their name and a colon. Maybe I'm alone with that.
That said - Julia Roberts as an incredibly vain aging beauty of a queen that is threatened by the perfect innocent beauty of SNOW WHITE, well it's kinda perfect. Now, we do have a very bizarre rival project coming up - as it seems that 2012 will be the year of SNOW WHITE (unless you're obsessed with THE AVENGERS like me), young talented commercial director, Rupert Sanders is helming SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN with Kristen Stewart and Viggo Mortensen as the Huntsman.
Now personally - I'm fascinated to see a Tarsem directed SNOW WHITE with Julia Roberts doing a bit of Baby Jane as the Evil Queen. Tarsem's stunning production design - combined with the lyrical emotional power that he gained in THE FALL... well, I'm curious.
Now Rupert Sanders... he's got a tough battle here, because he is yet to be established as a feature film director. He came very close a couple of years ago to helming a flick with Leonardo DiCaprio, but it apparently has fallen through. I don't know if I'm curious to see his version, because we're yet to know what he's capable of in a feature story.
But for now - let's think about who should be SNOW WHITE - opposite Julia Roberts' Evil Queen. Personally - I'm thinking Anne Hathaway. I mean, if there is a young beautiful actress that would drive Julia crazy, it'd have to be Anne. Right?
I just thought. 2012 will totally be the year of the Dwarfs. I mean, two SNOW WHITE films and THE HOBBIT? That's at least 27 Dwarves. That's a shit load of Jeff Mahlers...

She's ok, and a decent actress, but "fairest of them all"? No. She's got a hot body, as shown often if Love & Other Drugs ...but that face?? Let's be honest - that giant honker on her face really detracts from her looks. She'd be 1000% hotter if she got that thing taken care of.

If we're going to have a glut of Snow White movies, somebody needs to pick up Neil Gaiman's Snow, Glass, Apples. After all, the girl had skin as white as snow and lips as red as blood. Clearly a vampire. Of course the heroic queen had to have her heart cut out.

I can't be a tool and look forward to this.. did I cound 3 films listed in that article? Did we suddenly have the desire to love Snow White so much that everyone wanted three movies? Three different versions directed by three different people under three different studios? What The Fuck?

Her bit on "The Simpsons" as "Princess Penelope" was pretty fucking awesome. Also, there ain't nothing wrong with her nose. Except that it's not crushed down into my pubic hair on a regular basis.

Could be. I seem to be the only one who liked MARY REILLY. Terribly inconsistent accent aside, I thought Roberts was pretty good in it. It would be exciting to see her play something vicious and dark. I genuinely think she could pull it off, and it has the potential to be one of those roles a typecast actor takes in her later career to show she isn't fucking around anymore. Maybe. Maybe Roberts can be brave and do something interesting. And I'm always interested in what Tarsem's doing. As for Snow White herself... sure, Hathaway. It would be nice symmetry. Sort of like the meta-casting of BLACK SWAN. I love Germanic mythology stuff. Second to Norse. So I don't mind a few Grimm's every now and then. But colon titles are dumb.

...a watered down cash-grab of an attempt to continue the story. The original is all about a future savior of the world, but once you get to see him in action it's kind of a letdown. it doesn't retroactively fuck up the original, but you have to consciously block it out.

Pity she never delivered the goods to her fans, gratuitous nudity-wise. I'm talking full frontal AND full backal. It's always an interesting discussion when we try to figure just how many men she could simultaneously please with that Bermuda Triangle wide mouth of hers. Alas, the film adaptation of Snow White will not provide the answer, either.

Seriously, this was already done with Sigourney Weaver and Miroslav Taborsky played her brother. And Sam Fuckin Neil was in it!
