Let my Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day go!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Today we look at Cecil B. DeMille’s THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, specifically a moment during the filming of a Ramses/Nefretiri scene with Yul Brynner and Anne Baxter. For you ladies, you get a nice look at one of the manliest men of all time and for you guys Anne Baxter is a stone cold fox in her Egyptian attire.
I’m probably going to hell for focusing on the attractiveness of the two lead actors instead of the religious implications of the Moses story, but everybody knows the story, right? Back in the days when God would fuck you up if it pleased him and really flex his muscles in an in-your-face way. Now us sinners just get to enjoy life and pay for it afterwards, right? I don’t see the Westboro picketers losing their firstborn or locusts descending on Osama bin Laden (well, not that we know of).
Ah, the good old days! Anyway, the picture not only features Brynner and Baxter, but also director Cecil B. Demille, looking like a dwarf next to the imposing figure of Brynner’s Ramses.
Enjoy!

Tomorrow’s behind the scenes pic has his father’s eyes!

Yes indeed. Baxter was a fox!

Back when Dreamworks animation actually had a smidgen of ambition to make something other than farting CGI animal movies...

awesome pic

No doubt.

And I wonder if he was the inspiration for professor X. He's always looked like Yul to me.

Nobody!

Theater was themed perfectly to match the film. Epic experience.

No doubt! I always suspected Yul was X's model as well. A pity King Kirby is no longer with us to ask. Stan would probably say he drew it.
-
Great hand-drawn artwork, awesome music, the characters have strong personalities, voice work is good, they did some good variations on the story. One of Dreamworks' best, now when will they release it on Blu-Ray??

What are you talking about, Guy's eyes are normal! What have you done to him, you MANIACS!?!

Yul is handsome on that one, and Anne looks lovely. I'd tap that girl till the sun was no more.

Compared to him and Charlton Heston, all of Hollywood today is tiny and feeble.

Also "etcetera, etcetera, etcetera."

cuz cheney is a few hundred thousand years old and he stays alive by having fresh new hearts transplanted into his chest every 30 years or so.

There's a certain appropriate irony in that Yul Brynner, a gypsy, would play an ancient egypcian pharao, in that the word gypsy iself is a medieval corruption of the word egypcian. In the middle ages, when the gypsies first arrive in europe, the people, little knowing of the world outside of their own lands, though that the gypsies had came from Egypt, so the name stuck. In fact, the gypsies came from India. Besides, Yul Brynner made for a really badass Pharao. In fact, i was kinda rooting for him when i watched THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.Yeah, Ramses, show that Moses upstart who's the boss! I was really disapointed when, inthe end, the Pharao comes to his throne and acts like a little girl moaning "his god is the god". Boo hoo!! Lame ass loser!

As soon as the Muslim Brotherhood take over.

i consider the whole story a myth, but i still catch this movie every easter on abc
-
That's us Christians' God, too. He just became less threatening and lightened up some on our books. Kinda like how threatening characters are toned down in later seasons of a TV series.
-
When The Terminator came out, the first thing I thought of was Brynner's character in Westworld. Even Robert Patric's portrayal of the T-1000 seems inspired by the character.
-
Neytiri's name from Nefretiri?
-
my observations are brilliant. I like to contribute in an intelligent way. Its my way of saying thank you to Harry and you fine people.
-
Sharing a stage with Yul must have been the equivalent of sharing a stage with a naked Sofia Vergara - you just KNOW that there is not a single eye on you at any time. Dude had SERIOUS presence....
-
Fucking love Westworld. Yul ain't too shabby in this one, either.
