James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly has learned exclusively that Syfy has once more cast a non-American as an Adama.
The twentysomething version of Bill “Husker” Adama will be played by Luke Pasqualino (Freddie in the original “Skins”) in “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome,” a sequel to the just ended “Caprica” set near the end of Cylon War I.
Scripted by outer-space TV vet Michael Taylor (“Deep Space Nine,” “Voyager,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Virtuality,” “Caprica”), the “Chrome” pilot began life as a script for a series of online webisodes before it was upgraded to something for the mother channel.
Syfy says:
Pasqualino will star as the young, talented fighter pilot William Adama, a recent Academy graduate who finds himself assigned to the newest Battlestar in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with Coker (Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 45 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.
Coker will be played by Canadian “Hellcats” regular Ben Cotton (“Stargate Atlantis,” “Harper’s Island”).
Pasqualino is just the latest dirty foreigner to play a member of the Adama clan. Canadian Lorne Greene first played Commander Adama in 1978. Britisher Jamie Bamber played Lee Adama in the 21st century version. Israeli Sasha Roiz played Uncle Sam Adama in “Caprica” last year.
It's bad news for the American actor Nico Cortez, who played the twentysomething Adama in "Battlestar Galactica: Razor."
