I love ZOOLANDER, one of the few Ben Stiller comedies I can tolerate these days. Maybe it's because he was personally involved with the writing and directing, because when it's his baby, he has a wit and a passion for the material that carries over to the screen. As you know, us graduates of the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too are easily confused by big words and phrases so I'll try to keep it simple.
According to Empire, Stiller's finished a script and shared a few plot points: "I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the ZOOLANDER story, so yes, he features in a big way.”
The studio has a script but there's no word on casting, although we can assume that Stiller, Ferrell, and Owen Wilson would return. I'd love another go-round in the Zoolander-verse myself. Will Zoolander stun us again with his Magnum look? Will Hansel bring his sherpa to another multi-way? Will Mugatu invent another novelty tie? And will Duchovny's mysterious hand model make a comeback? The mind boggles.
