The Daily Blam Has Seen The Revealing First Trailer For X-MEN: FIRST CLASS!!
Pietro Filipponi of The Daily Blam has a report on the trailer for the Matthew Vaughn prequel “X-Men: First Class,” and it contains a lot of interesting details.
Spoilers are cloaked in invisotext:
* Though James McEvoy and Michael Fassbender play Xavier and Lensherr as young men, the trailer begins with the voices of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.
* Hank McCoy is human-looking and apparently already a doctor when Xavier and Lensherr meet him. We see how he transforms in blue furry Kelsey Grammer.
* Xavier apparently goes bald performing a Yoda-like feat of telekinesis (telekinesis, of course, not being Xavier’s forte).

* Emma Frost, wearing “the exact same outfit from the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon,” already has her diamond-skin power, just like the little blonde Xavier liberates at the end of “Wolverine.”
* Azazel apparently looks like a red Nightcrawler.
* Oliver Platt’s Man in Black is apparently a member of The Hellfire Club.
* Scott Summers’ older brother Havoc shoots red energy out of his chest instead of blue.
Cool.

Also, I have no interest in reading about a trailer, just seeing one.
-
Don't you mean Matthew Vaughn? Also, did I beat Harry on the first post? Am I the first to do this on the new regime?
-
sounds cool. shit, it would be rad if snyder got to direct the marvel universe as well.
-
Thank god that's a typo
-
screaming legit.
-
Last time I checked, it was Matthew Vaughn directing this. Or did he leave & hand the reigns over to Brett Rattner already?
-
and they're real. wowzers.
-
So you accomplished nothing noteworthy.

Zach can do what Singer couldn't! A Superman AND an X-Men film!
by MattmanReturns
Oh wait, no he can't. Nice job, Herc.
-
omg are you serious?
-
I'd never heard of her, but just looked her up on google. Great tits indeed.
-
Or whatever his name was, the fat guy who turned into a hunting beast for Selena when they fought Nimrod in Central Park. Damn that was a good comic book. (Glad my friends don't know I come to a site like this, posting shit like that.)
-
Prof X using Telekinesis? Emma Frost having her diamond powers already? Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen voicing the intro, which instantly attaches this movie to the previous ones instead of starting from scratch? Fucking Azazel??? Not cool. Stupid is more like it.
-
I've been talking to Matthew Vaughn about this report, which leaked a few days ago. It is true that Fox is testing various trailers right now, but they haven't locked down the final trailer - at least that has been showen to Vaughn. SO - I'd be a little careful taking any of this particularly to heart. At least for a bit. We'll see soon enough.
-
soundz good
-
cuz that was wacK how he lookd
-
that i still cared about this movie franchise. i agree with the bad move to connect this to the previous movies. if they started from scratch we'd at least have hope of more great movies with characters we love that haven't been ruined yet but...I just don't care anymore. And that's worse than being angry about them ruining it. Maybe we'll get pretty special effects and a fun superhero movie. But I doubt it'll be X-Men.
-
CRY HAVOK!
-
or a i wrong?
-
I hope so, 'cuz without costumes, this is just another PUSH or JUMPER or some lame bullshit like that.
-
As a yank, I was unaware that she was Wossy's wife. Lucky, lucky man. So what's the deal? I thought this was going to be a straight relaunch... is that not the case? Are we going to have flash-forwards and such? I'm worried about this picture.
-
More "MUTANT MAYHEM" with a director who doesnt quite get it.... At least Singer "The OC" isnt involved anymore... is it me or do these movies REALLY flesh out the reason why Xmen just arent that popular?
-
The last of them just left Georgia last night, taking the Cuban plane crash set with them (the train car that was supposed to haul the set was lost by the railroad folks, leading to a bunch of upset welders). They set up a giant bluescreen downtown and filmed against it for a little on Saturday. But based on what they shot down here and how much green screen there was, I don't see how they're going to finish it and have it look good by July.
-
Love comics, love the first movies, have NO interest in either this or the Spidey reboot. No matter how much talent they throw at this thing, never forget this is nothing more than an attempt to keep the rights from reverting to Disney. I fully expect the Fantastic Four and Daredevil reboots to be on par with a Roger Corman flick....Spidey and X-Men Babies dont sound much better.
-
SOOO the ones that should be babies are teens??? or actual adults??? like Emma and Scott and HAVOOK he is younger than Scott WTF do this asshole ever do some research before hand? another big FAIL for the future
-
No reason to see this if they show zero regard to the actual history or personality of the characters. Xavier goes bald from overexerting telekinesis? A power he doesn't even have? What the fuck ever.
-
The way Rogue's hair turned partly white in the 2000 X-Men fliq. DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO HAVE A FREAQIN' ORIGIN, EVEN THEIR MOTHER%!$#@N HAIR? MAYBE JEAN GREY WAS A FLATCHESTED CHIQ WITH BROWN HAIR, AND THEN SHE FELL INTO A VAT OF CHEMICALS THAT TURNED HER HAIR RED AND GAVE HER AN AWESOME RACK!? I expeqted more from Vaughan after Kick-Ass, maybe I should expeqt Kevin Bacon to play an emo/mod type.
-
No. Harry only "first" posts in his own articles. And I still don't think it's Harry doing it.
-
Woowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoow oowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowo owoowoowoowoowoo!!!
-
Wait. What are we doing?
-
I have 110% faith in Vaughn/Singer. This movie is going to deliver. Bank on it.
-
In the comics, Xavier -- both in the original and Ultimate universes -- is established as having limited telekinetic abilities, if I'm not mistaken. His powers are sort of the reverse of those possessed by Marvel Girl, whose telepathic abilitites are more limited than Xavier's.
-
No Scott Summers (THE FIRST X-MAN RECRUITED), Jean Grey, Bobby Drake, or Warren Worthington III. They (along with Hank McCoy) are the First Class not a bunch of forgettable characters nobody cares about. So, if this is a prequel to the rest of the X-Men movies, who is the Emma Frost in Wolverine:Origins?
-
It's not unusual for mutants to share the same or similar powers. The diamond girl in Wolverine is never identified as Emma Frost; perhaps she'll turn out to be Emma's niece or something.
-

hercules - 616 professor x has never been a telekinetic.

In the 616 universe.

In the credits of Wolverine Tahyna Tozzi is credited as being Emma Frost.
-
Tahyna Tozzi is, indeed, identified as Emma Frost

in the ultimate-verse, xavier has limited telekinesis
by BEARison Ford
blah.. blah blah blah
-
I'm told the credits identify her as "Kayla's sister/Emma." Is the sister's last name identified as "Frost" rather than "Silverfox" in "Wolverine"? If so, how? If Wolverine's diamond girl IS Emma Frost then, yes, confusing.
-
Jan. 12, 2011, 11:37 p.m. CST
i'm ok with just forgetting about Origins: Wolverine as a whole if you are.
by BEARison Ford
deal?
-
This will be completely unwatchable shit. It has been preordained.
-
Herc is 100% correct. She is credited as "Kayla's Sister/Emma". And why even argue? Would you rather have January Jones in skimpy outfits as THE WHITE QUEEN or some scared little girl who is the sister of Silver Fox?
-
Don't worry about the telekinetic shit, because the trailer description is 100% fake.
-

In Universe 1138 on Earth Four Xavier exhibits telekinesis
by _Venkman
As is totally gay for Magnus.
-
I was told Xavier used telekinesis to shield his students from an explosion in the 1960s comics. Perhaps I was misinformed. But Ultimate Xavier definitely indicates he has telekinesis.
-
1995 called-they want their cast back. Why not throw in John Travolta and Tommy Lee Jones while you're at it?
-
Don't know a great deal about the plot, but I'm assuming this isn't technically the "first class", as in Xavier's students, and is more a story involving Chuck and his college chums.
-
Costumes in X-men really aren't that important. Relationships are what drives this property.

Lord why is Fox up the timeline? Marvel fight for the rites please
by The Founder
I hate what fox is doing. Havoc not only is the older brother but he seems to have been born in the late 40's or sometime in the 50's??? WTF? Father now sounds more right. Emma Frost is has no dealing with the current xmen? I wish Marvel would get these rites back somehow. Take Fox to court, make the argument that Fox is destroying contiuity, I don't know if Marvel can win them back but god sakes I wish they would try
-
I guess Fox is basing this aspect off of that universe.

Is Platt the heavy dude that can increase mass or gravity?
by The Founder
I forgot his name but that is the only member I can see him being cast as.
-
I could be wrong though.
-
Sometimes things float.
-
no....hollywood must fuck up the xmen their own way
-
Jesus, I hate what they've done to these books. And whose this diamond chick? Ugh, ugh, ugh, uggggggggggggggh.
-
Just want to say that before the very tepid X3, the X-Men films were near as dammit my favourite blockbusters of the noughties. Bravo them for trying to get that spirit back...
-
I googled her just now, and... BLEHHHHH What is she, like 42 or something? The woman has large breasts buuuuuuut that's about it. She looks old and worn, and her frame is too big. Thus tainting her voluptuous nature... Again, bleehhhhhh.
-
When's the teaser gonna get released, AICN? Any ETA yet? I'm holding out hope that this installment is actually gonna be good... I like the choice of director and the cast is pretty great. As is the period-piece nature of the film, and of course the addition of the Hellfire Club. Could be pretty awesome...
-
and they have a number of children. She is a screenwriter who wrote the screenplay for Kick ass with Matthew Vaughn. She dated Ross when she was underage. They broke up and got back together when she was old enough to get married.
-
Thanks for the backstory emeraldboy. Now i can put a face to the name of the person i can blame for Kick-Ass's shittiness ;-)
-
some of the biggest tits in the world of comic book nerds.
-
Kick-Ass was awesome you festering pile of monkey sperm.
-
I loved that story where they fought Nimrod in Central Park! Actually, there was a whole couple of years there that just rocked. Xavier was gone and the XMen seemed all rag tag. I totally fell in love with Katherine Pryde during that era. (And yes, I also am glad my friends don't know I come to a site like this and post stuff like this). Plus any story where Rogue had to absorb half of her teams powers to form a super mutant to defeat the enemy was sweet and not only because she made out with whoevers' powers she was stealing.
-
Hoverboards don't work on water.. Bollocks, I'm at work now! :(
-
NOW I'm confused.
-
In this film we see him turn blue? In X2 he's on the TV and he's still human-looking. I guess continuity isn't going to be a strong point with this one.
-
The Ultimate Universe, so it looks like they are using that universe as the main source for this movie.

In the comics, Havok used to shoot...
by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview
...compass-inked circles. His uniform was solid black and no matter which way he was facing, the circles on it would remain the same (i.e., not in perspective. I never could figure out just what his power was. Also, I always thought he was YOUNGER than Scott. Besides, if this takes place in the 1960's, wouldn't that make Scott and Jean in their 50's or 60's now??? Th' f***???
-
I'd just like to see one semi close to faithful live action adaptation of the x-men before I die. This certainly won't be it. So I won't be wasting my money on it. Not that it matters, because I'm sure millions of sheep will make this the number 1 movie for two weekends in a row, and that's all that matters in Hollywood now.
-
I like to suggest trying to imagine that some well-known-to-them piece of pop culture (say Star Wars or Harry Potter) hadn't been made as movies yet, and then start brainstorming all of the random bullshit that might have been tossed their way by such equally haphazard adaptation work. Han Solo having a light saber duel with Darth Maul or Harry Potter being Dumbledore's 25 year old son and in love with Hermione usually let's them see what's off with poor comic adaptations.
-
Wolverine film, could we be getting not one, but two good x-universe films?

Chewtoy.....I feel ya brother, but I have a question
by southafricanguy
for you. Can we get all that upset about changes made when long running comics like the x-men have been retconned so many times, and have been reinterpreted so many times in the comics themselves? Basically, I m just saying that after being around so long and having several different versions, are nt comics fairly open to interpretation? Look at Nolan's Batman films, they are nt 100% faithful to the comics (in some ways they are sure) and Nolan has certainly presented a version of Batman, it just happens to one most fans love (even though there are plenty of Batman fans that dont like them). Whats important, imho, is that Nolan respects the source material, treats it seriously, and puts his effort into making a good film. Personally if I have to choose between getting a good x-men film or one that is not that good, but is faithful in its details to the comics only, I will take the good movie any day of the week. Now, I say this realizing you may say why cant a new X-men film be both? But in all honesty, there are simply things that work in one medium (comic books), that just dont work in another (film).

I know it soundslike some continuity will be fucked, butI can't wait for this
by Redhead_Redemption
Singer was brought back and had input in the script, Matthew vaughn is a very capable director, plus with this being set in the 60's it won't be "the wolverine show" like the other three were Color me excited to see this movie, it just feels right
-
Somewhere read the description "A cross between Lex Luthor and the Fonz." That's a perfect way to go with him. He deserves some not emberassing movie time. Well... they'll milk the X-teat for a while, so who knows...

"* Azazel apparently looks like a red Nightcrawler."
by Andrewn Galpon
well it is his fucking father! i think this will be a solid film, although i don't have a fucking clue why they're insisting on keeping it in continuity with the other films, doesn't make any fucking sense whatsoever, X3 ruined that run and wolverine was no fucking better! wish both first class and aronofsky's wolverine were reboot, i have faith in them both!
-
really. Does anyone have faith that this is going to work? 2 of the 4 X-Men films have been dog shit and it is not like they care much about doing them well. X-Men 2 was PERECT! Maybe the best comic book movie ever made. I don't see many people caring either way if this is going to be good. Our expectations are so low that if it is so-so ok, we might rave that it was a great movie.
-
My favorite comic growing up was the Avengers, and there's a hearty list of changes I would recommend to anyone looking to adapt those characters or their stories. I would say this is necessary due to more than just the fact that the characters have been reinterpreted so often, but also because after being written for so many years by so many voices their stories have had plenty of bad directions and ideas that could stand to be pruned away. At some point, though, the difference between changes to strengthen the concepts and changes of pure convenience begins to become clear. You can usually see where a writer/studio is trying to best adapt the source material to capture what created so many fans of it in the first place and where they're just using it as a grab-bag of popular concepts. People like Han Solo and lightsabers? Hell, give him an awesome space-pirate lightsaber. Need characters to flesh out this X-men tale set in the 1960's past, while you've established current continuity as slightly into the future? Hell, Emma Frost is popular... use her. So what if that makes her 80+ years old today. I'm not even all that upset myself about these changes, as the X-men were never all that near or dear to my heart. But I do sympathize with fans that do get upset by these kinds of things, especially when I think the changes are more due to a lack of care on the part of the creators.
-
if they're going the terminator salvation route ("let's show why kyle reese attaches string to his gun!") then this movie really WILL be as bad as i expect. can't wait to watch the bootleg drunkenly, shitting on it the entire time.
-
in agreement w/ you. an example I've used more than once: The stories are our myths, and to some our religion. Don't fuck it up. Imagine if Hollywood was to tell the story of Moses, and the plot was- Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt, with the help of Jesus and the thirteen disciples (the extra being Buddha), who shows up w/ a rocket launcher and rifles. They ride on the backs of elephants across the Black Sea and build the great wall of China to protect themselves from giants. Think folks wouldn't complain about that?
-
http://marvel.wikia.com/Charles_Xavier_%28Earth-616%29 Telekinesis (formerly): Professor X also possesses low-level telekinetic abilities, though these seem to no longer exist. They seem to be part of his genes however, as Cassandra Nova has telekinetic abilities and is basically a clone of Xavier.

Finally! The mystery of Xavier's baldness is solved!
by MattmanReturns
How could he have POSSIBLY gone so bald? Thank you, Hollywood, for answering the truly interesting questions.
-
A lot of people blame Ratner for X3 (I'm completely indifferent to him, he's like a less twattish McG) but as far as I'm concerned the blame for that piece of shit movie rests with Vaughn, Kinberg and Penn. <P> It's easy for Vaughn to say he would have done a better job but there were much bigger problems with that movie than the director. I doubt the decisions to kill off Cyclops and Xavier were made at the last minute by Ratner. <P> Vaughn cast Vinnie Jones as juggernaut for fucks sake...the man needs a hefty kick in the testicles for that one. <P> Layer Cake was okay and I really enjoyed Kickass. I think it's hard not to like that movie but X-Men is totally different. Even with different writers my expectations are extremely low for this one.
-
haven't you seen the leaked set pics?
-
...but I would still probably pay $10 to see it! I mean, Moses AND Jesus AND Buddha! On elephants! At the Great Wall! Fighting Giants no less! Sign me up. And I'm Catholic.
-
for my love of comics, and I couldn't get enough X-Men. Pre-bone claws, pre-X-Force, pre-bullshit. And the Marauders storyline was the highlight of those golden 80's as far as the X-Men comics were concerned.
-
Is he going to be jumping around with hand feet.
-
Jan. 13, 2011, 10:58 p.m. CST
unexpectedly looking forward to seeing Kelsey Grammer in this
by deelzbub
-
First of all any of you real X-men buffs out there, well quote me if im wrong. Emma frost has telepathic abilites, she didnt get the diamond form until the second mutation in the comic, Plus she was a founding member of the Hellfire Club! Cyclops is the Older brother and Havok is the Youngest, And being on the subject Havok shoots gold and yellow spacial energy absorbed in his body... And Vulcan was the baby... The first initial generation of xmen was gathered when they was in they're teens. Hank Mccoy wasnt a doctor yet, but a star athlete football player when Xavier scouted him. They have the story all wrong... Why I dont know...
-
I sure as fuck wouldn't complain. MAKE THAT MOVIE NOW!
-
Since Budda was fat you could make him the comic side kick(fat people being funny and all. To bad Chris Farley is dead. There is nothing in the bible that says Jesus DID'NT know martial arts. just saying.
-
...and his plasma was yellow/white...but I haven't picked up an X-Men title with havoc in it since 1989...so...what do I know?
