MISSILE COMMAND Movie...From Fox!!

Merrick here...

THIS piece in Variety reveals that Fox and Atari are getting together to bring us a big-screen adaptation of Atari's MISSILE COMMAND video game.  Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama -  who've recently scripted a FLASH GORDON reboot and DRACULA: YEAR ZERO  - will forge the movie's screenplay.

As a game, MISSILE COMMAND appeared in 1980 and basically allows its player to defend multiple cities from seemingly endless nuke-centric attacks (missiles, satellites, bombers, and combos thereof). It has gone through multiple iterations and ports (various Atari consoles, iPhone derivations, XBOX Live), but remained fundamentally consistent in its game playing dynamic.

I say, just convert that video to 3D and slap it up on screen.  'Twould make as much sense as some of the films we see these days...
