Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
I’m a big, big Rocky Horror Picture Show fan. I’m a little obsessed with Tim Curry if I’m going to be completely honest. He’s an amazing actor, but there’s something about his energy in this film that is impossible to ignore. It’s like the filmmakers captured a bi-sexual Loki in Curry’s iconic performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a mischievous, jealous larger than life character.
So, I finally have an image from Rocky Horror to share with you guys with this column and it’s a very fun Tim Curry shot at that. Hope you enjoy it!

Before I sign off tonight, I want to follow up on the BTS contest for a Joe Dante autographed Gremlins Blu-Ray and Vol. 1 of the Trailers From Hell series on DVD. In honor of the adorable Phoebe Cates, I asked for Holiday horror stories to be sent in under the subject like “Why I Hate Christmas.” I got some doozeys, but the one that stuck out to me came from a reader named Lance Checketts who was nearly paralyzed this year when a sledding trip with his 3 year old son went horribly wrong. In protecting his son, he struck his back against a rock and missed being permanently disabled by about 2 inches.
The story was harsh, but the photos he included are what pushed him over. I’ll spare you all of them, but check out what his back looked like 4 days after the accident:
Hopefully the spoils of his contest win will aid him somewhat in his recovery! Thanks to all who entered and thanks to Mr. Dante and Trailers From Hell for the great, rare Gremlins pics and contest!

Picked it up for under $10 after Xmas and have checked select bits (for transfer quality, which is variable but mostly pristine). The extras are gangbusters - like the prior DVD. Would be something if FOX Home could exert this kind of bonus content creation with Lucasfilm's eventual SW Blu-rays.

...this and Darkness in LEGEND - he knew how to go over the top, while basically in disguise, in the best way possible. Also, get well soon to the GREMLINS Blu-ray ...umm...'winner'.

That flick is pure shit and is damn near unwatchable. It tries to hard to be cool and just ends up being like the dumb drunk bitch you wanna punch in the face.

RHPS is my favorite film...despite its age, it remains polarizing and dangerous to the prejudices of many. It's a shame that Curry's penance for actually being *brilliant* in a leading role was to be relegated to co-star status for the remainder of his screen career. If you haven't seen it, you should check out Tim in the BBC's 1978 "Will Shakespeare."

Loki actually was considered bisexual for his habit of transforming into a female. He obviously put out, too since he gave birth to some of the other figures in Norse Mythology including Odin’s eight legged horse, his daughter Hel (guardian of the underworld), and the giant wolf who kills Odin in the end.

Where is all the audience participation love? Has that been forgotten in this age of blue-ray and home entertainment? This flick was way more immersive than fuckin' AVATAR!

..I think what's been forgotten (mostly by people too young to know in the first place) is that the RHPS audience participation really WAS immersion in the film, and NOT ironic ridicule of the movie, in the style of MST3K. I'd love to see someone tell Sal Piro or Dori Hartley that they were yelling at the movie all those years because they thought it was dumb ;)
