Want to see GREEN HORNET in 3D for the first time, like Harry @ The Alamo this Thursday in Austin? TOO LATE :(
Hey folks, Harry here... in 2011 - and is it just me, or does it seem with each year, like we're more and more living in science fiction times? 2011? That's the year after the sequel to 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY - crazy.
Anyways, this is a promotion for the Austin and Austin area readers of AICN. We're doing screenings in a few spots around the country for this one. In the future, if you'd like to host screenings for AICN in your towns, drop me an email and we can discuss. I know there's a lot of you folks out there that wish AICN was in your town, but if you're thinking that, you can make it happen, but it does have a few responsibilities.
OK - that aside. This is for Michel Gondry's funny and action packed GREEN HORNET feature. Now, I've already seen the film twice in 2D - and the film works awesomely in that format, but once you see the film, there's no doubt going to be a huge curiousity regarding the dimensional possibilities that Gondry has constructed within the frame. Namely... KATO VISION. I am dying to see KATO VISION in 3D. Especially the spatial Bruce-Lee-esque warping scenes.
I'll go more into that when they finally let me ejaculate over this film. So how do you get into the screening, which takes place this Thursday, January 6th at 7:30pm at the Alamo Drafthouse South, on the beautiful SCREEN 2!?!?
THE SCREENING IS COMPLETELY FILLED!!! Try Your Luck Next Time!
Once the screening is full, I'll email every winner affirming your admittance, and then, I'll see ya Thursday at the Alamo South!

Wanna see GREEN HORNET in 3D this Thursday @ Alamo South with AICN?
-
I've been wanting to see this movie ever since since George Clooney was set to play the Green Hornet and Jason Scott Lee as Kato. This film cannot arrive fast enough!
-
I've been a Lone Ranger and GH fan since my grandfather had me listen to some of the old radio broadcasts, and I'm hoping the movie captures the old fashioned hero vibe of those programs (meaning more fun, not so much emphasis on grit...) I don't suppose there's a Lone Ranger reference thrown into the film for us fanboys?
-
But the Social Network showing was a giant clusterfuck, at least for me. Not sure that Green Hornet is going to be worth that stress. Hope it's enjoyable for everyone who goes!
-
...but at this point, the bulk of my knowledge of the film (rather than the character/concept) is limited to: 1) Cameron Diaz is in it. Steeeeeeee-rike. 2) Hand-breaded chicken tenders from Carl's Jr sure are tasty. I'm gonna need to see some reviews before I throw down some good money for it (the movie, not the chicken tenders).

Number one at the box office, haters!!!
-
It was great. Kinda like watching The Pineapple Express or a Lethal Weapon flick. Kato rocks.
-
..but probably low numbers and a severe drop-off the following weekend.

went to bed too damn early, I check the site daily, and when I get to work and I still missed this. Crap, try to catch the next one hopefully
-
Don't speak ill of her, though. She was, after all, namechecked in a Tarantino flick.
-
Like any good Rogen and Goldberg movie The Green Hornet is best viewed as a platonic buddy romance, and the scenes between Britt and Kato are the best. I can't give away too many details yet, but I'll say this. Jay Chou is so funny, even without a full command of the language, that he clearly has a big future in the U.S.
-
It the show is "completely filled" why is it still on the front page of the site?
-
fuck off, people like you ruin sites like this. there's hundreds of other sites just like this, use another one if you don't agree with harry. [waits for a 3 paragraph "witty" response"]

I'm super excited I made it into the first screening of 2011. I'm still kind of new to the Austin area and would love to get to know some fellow movie geeks, so feel free to say hi in line. My name is Bobby. I'll be the pudgy guy with shabby hair and the patient looking girlfriend. Her name is Kassy. Say hi to her also, it'll make her day. See you Thursday!

afraid I didn't make it in time to get a seat to this one, but as a fellow movie buff in Austin (and a 2008 transplant to Texas) I would love to find a group to hang with at these or cool Draft house events, as opposed to traveling in a large group of one (the wife is not as much a movie fan-antic, so the more the merrier) give a shout out and I'll send email details as for your description? hehe you must not have been to many of these as you described a good 90% of what the attendees look like :) as for me? I am always easy to spot at these, militaristic look with many variations of Khaki and olive drab clothing; just think what would "Bert Gummer" from Tremors movie wear....yeah pretty much sums me up

not sure why it posted twice on here, but what the hey just to strike up a conversation, anyone here hear anything new on the live Action Space Battle Ship Yamato???
-
Haha...yeah, I figured that wasn't the best description. Yours was a lot more specific. My email address is bobby.j.warren@gmail.com Feel free to email me and maybe we can get some kind of movie group going. Sorry you didn't make it into this one. Good luck on the next.

How cool would it have been if the dad was the original Green Hornet...
by Orionsangels
and they used footage from the original TV series either in the opening or in a flashback, but make it look hazy or vague. Kato's son can also be the new Kato. That would explain why the new Kato has the Green Hornet mobile and all those gadgets. The new Kato tells Seth Rogen's character how his dad was the original Green Hornet. Now there's a foundation to go on and Seth Rogen and this random asian guy becoming Kato and why they killed his dad. This makes more sense. Why do that though? It would be too cool right? Instead of flicking a CGI bottle cap through the air. That scene represents everything that's wrong with modern movies!

...at all. They have taken an iconic hero of radio and made him into a buffoon. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg should be ashamed of themselves. And I'll bet they don't even acknowledge the relationship between Britt Reid and the Lone Ranger. On second thought, they shouldn't, because this movie is a farce and will be widely panned as one of the worst "superhero" movies ever made. Mark my words.
