Young Snape and another more spoilery cast member revealed for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was scrolling through Badass Digest when I saw a story about the final round of reshoots being completed on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which would mean all filming on anything Harry Potter is done forever.
Sad, I know, but onwards and upwards! Mr. Faraci included a little bit of casting news at the end of the article, linking to a site called Screen Terrier who got pics of two youngsters appearing in the final film.
The first one isn't a big spoiler, so you're safe until after this kid, but if you haven't read the last book and don't want to know nothin' about the finale then don't read further, okay? Good.
This here is young Londoner Benedict Clarke who will play young Snape. He certainly looks the part and if he nails it he'll really put that emotional oomph needed to fully round out Snape's character.

Okay, now for the more spoilery stuff. Are all unsoiled eyes away? Let's look at the next youngin' to be seen in The Deathly Hallows:

That is Bertie Gilbert who will be playing Scorpius Malfoy during the finale at King's Cross. I'm sure you dyed in the wool fans will remember that we see the older characters (those that survive the Battle of Hogwarts) sending their kids off to the wizarding school, so Mr. Gilbert will be playing Draco Malfoy's kid. Again, looks the part, no?
Thoughts?

Hmmmmm, any kid with black, oily hair can pull of a young Snape. The young Malfoy kid deserves the role for no other reason than they may make him get a haircut!
-
Nice casting, was Justin Bieber not available?
-
Wasn't Snape's memory all over the timeline. Shouldn't there be multiple ages for his flashbacks? Was the teenage Snape in OOTP not available?
-
The finale also includes a much older Ron, Potter, and Draco . . . presumably they've got new actors for those characters, unless they'll be digitally aging and fattening up the current actors?
-
They are using make up effects. You can find pics online
-
...sounds like he should be made out of liquorice.
-
Other guy looks too damn nice to play Snape... but we'll see. Perhaps Snape was once a happy kid, then got f*d up. I'll miss this cast - lead & supporting ones both. One of the best casts I've ever enjoyed watching. And from those who've read the books, they've said the same to me.
-
Obviously a studio toady spreading salacious gossip and innuendo to drum up interest in a story I doubt anyone has even watched, let alone bought the DVD's... <p> Now if You'll excuse me.. I have a tea-party meeting for the nomination of Sarah 'shoot it if it's cute & fuzzy' Palin's Presidential bid!
-
No really, I say that but they have already been writing it since the books ended.

They are using the original actors for "old" versions of themselves
by Mahaloth
I saw photos of it over on Leakycauldron back when they filmed it. Of course, they are now re-filming the entire epilogue because the set looked wrong or something(I forget the reason).
-
Seriously the only thing holding it up at this point. They should award his devotion with Salt Lick coupons.
-
Anyone...anyone.....Bueller?
-
The dark haired kid is playing harries son that is name Severus not snape himself.
-
that's lame. I don't wanna see the hotness that is Hermoine all chubby, because I won't get a chubby. Damn it

"Badass Digest," "Screen Terrier?" We're officially out of domain names.

Jesus.

I thought it was coming out this Summer?

David Yates still managed to piss me off quite a bit with the way he handled things. Disappointing it was. Really has me worried for how he's going to tackle the final battle. I'm betting we won't see certain past characters making appearances during the fight (trying to keep this spoiler free).

Motherfucker! What it is?

This info has been out for quite a while. Remember when this site use to break news!

I see you got your name back too!

can't wait until this series is over. i remember seeing the first one and feeling so empty afterward. how can you make what should be a fantastic journey of magic and growing up so dull and souless? how could you make movies that have so much going on visually that they are actually boring? how can you have a protagonist that you never care for and doesn't develop? well, it's been done. good riddance HP.

First kid is playing Albus Severus Potter, Harry's son
by performingmonkey
That's why he's announced here with Draco's son. Ron and Hermione also have two children but I doubt they'll be more than extras, whereas Albus will have a couple of lines. What a sucky name to give a kid, lol!! He is the one JK Rowling said she is 'most interested' in, so if she decides to write another book in this world it would be a good guess that he will be involved. The epilogue is set 19 years after the end of Deathly Hallows so maybe expect the next Potter book to come 19 years after Deathly Hallows was published. It would make sense, and is long enough to wait. Just imagine the furore that would surround that release in 2026. It would be like the second coming of Lucas!!!

Saw part 1 for Christmas and thought it was BORING AS FUCK! And I've liked them all up until then.

Snapes one of my fave HP characters. The movie series is far from perfect, but like old Flynn from Tron would say 'I still dig it man'.
-
They've nailed the casting in these films better than just about any other I can imagine. The first boy looks great - looks like a good fit for that sort of sad hopefulness turning to darkness that the character experiences. God luck to both of them - small parts, to be sure, but it must still be exciting to take part in this epic production.
-
I laughed so hard at that. so pathetic this harry potter business, good riddance.
-
It's a Festivus miracle.

makes no reference to the message to which you're replying?

looks like he just walked off the set of DBZ

Filming anything Harry Potter done forever??...Please
by thatswhatshesaid
There will be Harry Potter prequels, sequels, and maybe even a remake sooner than anyone would believe right now. Put the name Harry Potter on a movie in the future and it guaranteed money for the studios, no way they pass that up.
-
Stupidest name ever. Supposedly Rowling had the ending written years in advance, well she should have rewrote it. She spent 4thousand pages building this whole world and wrapped it up in a couple pages. Theres no resolution to dozens of characters. Personally I thought the last book sucked. Its got a few good chapters, but on the whole, was a big letdown.
-
Let's hear him do some Die Hard quotes.
-
He looks like the puppet from Interpol's video for "Evil." Fucking creepy.
-
It is the 6th highest grossing movie of the year and it is still in its first run in most markets.
-
Ho ho ho.

It's sad that this is the first we're seeing of young Snape
by CherryValance
And that Malfoy kid looks too old to be a first year. Weren't they all first years? the epilogue children?

The button refers to adding your comment to the entire Talkback, not directly replying to any particular comment. Yes, the placement of the button at the end of every comment seems to imply otherwise. AICN continues its tradition of stubbornly horrible Web design straight out of the early years of the Web when AOL and GeoCities reigned.

they are merely deleting them every now and then hoping maybe we won't notice...but the spams keep coming, new ones every time i check the site, usually the last post in every TB is a spam, which says something about how often they still post. most of you don't know because you may be using that 'ignore' feature someone created, but just so you guys know, they are still here, nothing's changed.
-
AICN is only good for one thing and thats the TBs but with spam even that has become stupid. Every news here is old anyway why would anyone show up here now? I guess this is karma somehow
-
Looks just like him.....
-
and by the way, i hate what rowling did with DH.... that saccharine epilogue..... the unexpected solutions (a la deus ex machina).... the cliches.... oh god
-
Hermione will be about 38 in the epilogue. You don't think she won't be a real MILF? God I am such a sick fuck.
