Natalie Portman starrer THE OTHER WOMAN gets a poster and trailer
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little double dose of Natalie Portman for ya'.
Strange how a movie she was in that reportedly fizzled at the Toronto Film Festival releases it's new poster and trailer right on the heels of the world being told she's pregnant and in a loving relationship with a Black Swan dancer. You broke my heart, Natalie! I thought it was just a trial separation!
But I'm a big boy, I'll mend myself over time. Ms. Portman has been a very busy woman and has a massive 2011 lined up, not counting her personal life. She has that Ashton Kusher rom-com, Thor, Your Highness and a brilliantly dark little film called Hesher that I saw at Sundance last year that would have made my top 10 list of the year had it seen release.
And then there's this one, which I'll see because Natalie Portman is in it, but on first glance it looks to suffer from bad timing... It looks like Rabbit Hole-lite from the marketing and has a distinct awards-season feel. Hope I'm wrong as I will be watching this movie at some point, but the gut is telling me not to hold my breath on this one. It's got a pretty poster, though:

And then here's the trailer, which debuted over at Yahoo.
Thoughts?

Hands down the best performance in a movie this year by anyone.
-
D'oh!
-
I feel so old. She was a little girl a few days ago.
-
When she signed up for the above mentioned Ashton Kutcher rom-com. I dunno, something about willingly working with Ashton Kutcher just takes a bit of the shine off. That said, to agree with the wizard and any number of other people, her performance in Black Swan was flat out amazing. Though Mother gets my vote for performance of the year.
-
She deserves it. Never been impressed with much of her work at all, but that performance was astonishing. Best one of the year
-
I can't think of any other performance that comes close at the moment. Anyone?
-
Is 'starrer' a typo or some new slang term I've yet to encounter.
-
Have you not seen Jennifer Lawrence in Winter's Bone?
-
Man i'm getting old
-
haven't posted on here for ages, what did i miss ?
-
Hang on, she got knocked up by a character from 'A Bug's Life' or something?
-
But the film is probably not bad.
-
looked piss miserable to start with (well duh) but you know it picked up. I think the only problem I have is that I don't need to see the film now.
-
.....was a slow acting time release.
-
THIS movie!
-
...who looks more stunning when she cries as Natalie Portman?
-
...I haven't been fucked like that since grade scool!

We should all be so lucky if Natalie were the other woman.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooOooooooooo!
-
That glorifies a cheating couple. Unless Natalie is getting fucked quite a bit in this, then I could set aside my moral qualms.
-
Once again, this looks retarded
-
How about a blockbuster, bloody, action-packed professional sequel? It seems only right.
-
me. What I'm not a poster? I post stuff here all the time.

Wrapping that movie up in a 2 minute trailer has made...
by moonlightdrive
me feel sick. ..and "Rabbit Hole-lite" is a gross understatement.
-
because Natalie is...
-
That is all.
-
This means getting naked, any other use is false advertising.

the loss of a son or daughter go, The Greatest is a lot better than Rabbit Hole anyway. And presumably this. Did anyone see that? it has Carey Mulligan so you'd fuckin hope so, but probably not "you need to take an active role in your own grieving process" lol help me oh and the shot of the three of them sitting in the car grieving is EXACTLY the same shot, basically, as the long take of that same scenario in The Greatest, oddly

I was REALLY aside from Portman about to write this one completely OFF as made for tv feel good... BUT.. Lisa Kudrow caught my eye.. and yeah.. I saw Marci X (and GAWD was it awful).. BUT.. she's also an excellent supporting player on occasion (The Opposite of Sex and Easy A come to mind). BUT.. what sold me as giving this one a solid shot was "written and directed by Don Roos". I know people give him a hard time for "Bounce" which I thought was pretty good.. not great.. could have been better.. but "Opposite of Sex" for about 2-3 years after it came out.. just stood out as a fantastic film with an exceptional supporting cast ... So.. I'll give this one a fair shake.. could be good.. or could be just Don Roos taking one more slog towards the bottom.. I pray for the former rather than the latter.

...she needs to seriously take a breather or something. Somebody should tell her that she doesn't have to yes to every single script offered. Give her audience at least some small time to be away, so that when she returns for another movie it'll be fresh and exciting to see her again. Maybe this whole pregnancy thing will do the trick. Only thing is that with all these movies coming out in 2011, even if she becomes a stay-at-home mom the whole year, she still won't be away from the masses. I'm still a fan of hers, kind of. She's lost her charm on me. (I can see now how guys who are with totally smoking babes still wander around. Eventually a woman loses her charm). It's kind of weird though how ten years ago she said she wouldn't be in movies by this time, but that is totally not happening now.

Umm.....WOW. I guess getting knocked up "happens" but the engagement sounds like something that was come up in a board room full of publicists and studio execs looking to see how they can maintain her wholesome/classy perception.... "oh...well if she is getting married, then it's ok...right?" I am sure a few months from now, the guy was either married or already dating someone. I mean yeah, who can blame him, it's Natalie Portman...
-
Damn how amazing must it feel to shoot your seed deep into that when she is looking into your eyes..one lucky dude.
-
Should make for a real comfortable evening...
