AICN Dedicated Talkback: After 28 Years, TRON LEGACY Is Finally Here!!

Merrick here....

Well folks, seems like it has been a lifetime since I first sat in a theater with my friends watching TRON.  And, for some of us...and in many ways...I suppose it has been.

Whether you're "Old School" in your love for TRON, or are only now becoming exposed to the aesthetically rich metpahysical awesomeness of Encom, The Grid, Users, Flynn's Arcade, Etc....you almost certainly know by now that TRON's sequel (and it is very much a sequel, as well as a brazen set-up for further films) hits theaters today.

What did you think?  What expectations did you have going in, and how were those expectations met?  What were you hoping to see?  What did you not see enough of?  Did TRON LEGACY raise the bar on design heavy, FX driven, bad-ass filmmaking - or did it miss the mark?  Did Daft Punk's score work for you as well as many of us said it would?  Or did it annoy the hell out of you?   Which TRON Babe "did it"  for you the most - super-desirable Olivia Wilde, or the fresh, breathtaking, commanding presence of Beau Garrett?  Feel free to discuss some of this, all of this, and more in the Talkbacks below!

For those who like the film, or as a Christmas gift suggestion for someone you may know who enjoyed the movie, Justin Spinger's ART OF TRON LEGACY book is quite nice, by the way.  Obviously it's design and image intensive, which is pretty awesome in a case like this - but the text regarding the development process is quick and insightful, and efficient. Nicely done all the way around.  It's on shelves now, or can be had affordably HERE!
