PITCH BLACK trailer is now up!

Published at:  Nov 27, 1999 1:58:57 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here. Not much a happening in the land of cinematic endeavors. Amazing what all that Turkey Drug can shut down! Well, I've got just a tad of news here... Actually it ain't so much news as it is... A Trailer for you folks to check out.

This is the trailer for PITCH BLACK... a film that Moriarty and I discovered while just wandering the Earth and all. It's a Hardcore geek film without any of the trappings of the big budget stars. A film that feels quite a bit like vintage Carpenter or Cameron... and not at all like Twohy's first film.

Word has it that the film will be opening in early February now, instead of late March... I believe it's set for February 11th opposite DiCaprio's THE BEACH... Click Here To Go Get The Trailer For PITCH BLACK!!! But I wanted to clarify a couple of things in the trailer. First off, there is a REASON for the strange seemingly monochromatic coloring of some of the scenes... The planet has 3 suns... they are not all the same type of sun though. Believe me... the use of color and exposure settings in this film are fantastic.

Alright, so there ya go... Check it out. I recommend the 25 meg trailer personally. It's damn sharp.

    First! and Pitch Black

    by darthjoe

Good, I am curious about this movie and I haven't seen any clips or anything. What is with the lack of updates? Don't mean to be rude, but the highlight of my day is coming to AICN. *sniff* And End of Days is cool. oh yyeah, I'm FIRST>

    oops

    by darthjoe

I am so retarded that I missed Harry's line where he said there is not much going on in the cinematic world, hence the lack of updates. Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.

    could it be?

    by toranaga

Interesting trailer. Alot of nothingness though. Could this be one of the ultra geeky films premeiring at the Buttnumbathon? I hope so. Then I wouldnt have paid more than 5 dollars to see it. But hey, if it's like old Carpenter, Im all for it. And oh yeah, Harry, would you sponser me?

PITCH BLACK could that be the Naomi Cambell on the cover of Play

    by geekbasher 3.0

just kidding! Anyways I cannot wait for this one, it will probably be a good movie to get baked to!
Well All I got to say is after watching every single movie out there this holiday weekend:
TOY STORY 2 and FLAWLESS are the ones that made me smile and rocked my world! I could not believe Mr.SChumacher did a 180 and made a honest and funny flick, Phillip Seymor Hoffman deserves a fucking oscar for his potrayal of a Bitter but Sweet New York Drag "DIVA" Robert deniro was quite good also. TOy Story 2 was the cherry on top of the twinkie though! Harry was right, it is really a good movie!!! GO See Flawless you guys!! Hope everyone woke up from their food comas and had a good weekend!!!

    I loves me some DiCaprio!
Actually, I liked The Arrival, so I'll see what people say about Pitch Black before I sneak into it.

    It's All Relative

    by anton_sirius

I think what Harry meant to say was "After that appalling tampon of an abortion of a trailer for Supernova, Pitch Black looks like early Carpenter or Cameron." Look at it this way: Tim Robbins in full Player mode is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to see a science fiction film next year. Do you see A) Supernova, with its horrific behind-the-scenes history and perhaps the worst trailer ever made (although Felicia's Journey is neck-and-neck); or B) Pitch Black, which doesn't seem all that great but at least has a cool premise and nifty creatures?

Just curious about where you live, Canada or the US? I saw the trailer for Felecia's Journey in both NYC and Toronto, and surprisingly they're two VERY different edits. The American edit (oddly) didn't focus on much of the sinister element (and not-so-surprisingly didn't even mention Atom Egoyan's name, unlike the Canadian edit where he's trumpeted throughout). Anyway, have you seen the film itself? Regardless of where you live, ignore the trailer. It's very, VERY good indeed. One of the better films of the year, I suugest.

The trailer is great, maybe I saw a different one then people in the U.S. The film is truly one of the best of the year. Bob hoskins should get an oscar nomination!

    PB trailer is AMAZING

    by pezhead

I remember first hearing about Pitch Black quite a long time ago and it really interested me. The story sounded great and it seems to be turning out into a hell of a movie. I saw the Pitch Black trailer in front End Of Days last night and it was FRIKKIN' AMAZING. It began like it would be another killer-on-the-loose-in-a-strange-place movie but then really reveals what the plot is truly about. Probably the most amazing thing about this trailer was the unbelievable sound. Towards the end there were segments where the screen was black and you only hear sounds of the "inhabitants" moving, screaming, "eating" around you. Then an image would light up, then dissapear. The final scene was someone blowing a flame from a lighter and you barely getting a glimpse of the creatures around them. The theater I was in had some of the best surround sound I've ever heard and it truly made the trailer great.

    January dumping ground

    by darthjoe

Dude, there is a good chance Pitch Black will suck cuz it is being released in the cinematic graveyard known as "the month of January." Who can remember a movie that opened in January and did WELL financially or even got good reviews? We already have Supernova coming (and what the hell is with that trailer? I think the Three Dog Night music totally gave it the wrong tone.At least Robin Tunney is in it). And Toy Story 2 is cool. It has been selling out like crazy and will definitely break the Thanksgiving weekend boxoffice record.

Pitch Black 2nd best trailer of the day

    by leopard2

Like many of the posters ahead of me, I say this trailer today on the big screen before End of Days. (BTW...I was a little let down by EOD, but thats another post) Pitch Black did look at least a little intresting (and as many others have stated better than the trailer to super nova), but the best trailer shown was for Man On The Moon. I don't really count myself as an Andy Kauffman fan, I didn't know much about him until lately, but now I want to see this movie. Oh and Harry, the Turkey drug is called Tryptophan (although my spelling of it may be off). Just thought you'd like to know.

    Pitch Black=next Event Horizon?????

    by pipsorcle

Bullshit! There is no way this film will be like Event Horizon! EH had not a single good line of dialog at all! When Laurence Fishburne went into the locker and grabbed the gun, he said, "I'm going to kill him." Is that the best these would-be "screenwriters" could think of? How about "I'm going to mangle him silly." Now this may not be the most perfect line, but by putting a line like this could have made Event Horizon worth watching for just that one line of dialog! But nooooo, there is nothing worth watching in that movie! Pitch Black was directed by David Twohy, who was behind The Arrival. Now, don't you think that anything in The Arrival or Pitch Black (irregardless if you liked either movie or not) would be better than any scene in Event Horizon?

    pitch black

    by bulby2

I recently saw this major rip off of Alien & can honestly tell all readers of this site to STAY AWAY! When have you seen a good sci-fi film where the main character is able to wrestle the alien with his bare hands and win! It's totally laughable, hokey,& downright silly. There isn't one major knock your socks off action/suspense sequence in the whole film. The aliens look like they walked off the set of Jurassic Park and aren't even very scary or well designed. What was Harry looking at or ratyher what drug was he taking at the time?

    Seen it

    by 142

I saw a movie just like this (probably same one) a year ago in California. It had the Ridick guy you talk about and everything so I think they changed the name. It was pretty dumb. It would have been better if it were a comedy cause it should have been funny. The best part was the hot girls in tight pants and when the gay guy got eaten. There was a gross looking kid in it that that was girl but was suppose to be a boy. I fell asleep for most of it. Recommendation = for free it's okay, a solid puppy.
