Are you a WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? Geek like me? Well, Merry Christmas!
Hey folks, Harry here with a link to something you can spend a good 40 minutes of your life blissfully exploring. This site features and focuses upon ANIMATION BACKGROUNDS - the painted worlds in which animated characters come to life upon. In particular, with Roger Rabbit, the sheer number of animated and moving things - didn't necessarily allow for much time to appreciate the brilliant work and sneaky little bits of genius that worked its way into this brilliant movie from Robert Zemeckis. More like this. The TOONS TO WAR was the one I wanted desperately to see. Just seeing Rog & gang tackling the Axis and their animated villains. Drool. This link came compliments of the man that animates the corner... Cartuna!

I would have never noticed all of the faces in the architecture of Toon Town.
-
But WFRR was a pretty awful movie.

When will the site be like every other website that's like, you know, functional? This shit is getting ridiculous. I know you guys can handle it better than this.
-
Haha
-
...compared to Jordan's Space Jam. Space Jam had that R. Kelly cut. What did Roger Rabbit have???
-
RR was awesome. One of the first Laserdiscs I bought and still have! Almost as cherished as my Star Wars Laserdiscs (you know, the one where Greedo shoots first?) and my Cannibal Holocaust Laserdisc. Loves me some LD. Just hope that Pioneer keeps on chugging.

Anyone who claims to hate WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? must truly be dead inside. It's one of the most joyful and technically amazing films ever made and it still works like gangbusters for children today, even though most of them probably don't know who half of the cartoons in this movie are. Thanks for pointing this out, Harry. I really enjoy seeing the ridiculous amount of detail that went into just the background paintings on this flick. It just goes to show how much genuine love Zemeckis and Co. had for the material they were so incredibly lucky to be working with.
-
Haters gonna hate.
And speaking of hate...
People are really losing it over the site reconstruction. Shit happens. When the bugs are worked out, the site will be running nice and smooth. Until then, we'll just have to live with the quirks...
Ahh, look. The much talked about Edit button of legend! ...and then, POOF! Like Keyser Söze.
-
I am hoping this is just a bug of some sort awaiting the iron of out. Outside of that I like the direction the site is taking. Cant build Rome in a day.

Not like RR? It's a pulp noir murder mystery with nearly every catoon character ever...
by JediRob
...and it works! I still can't even believe they made that movie. It's the kind of thing you dream about but is an impossibility.
-
Thanks SO much! Too bad the guy isn't doing it anymore but there's a wealth of gorgeous, classic stuff on there. Hello new wallpapers!!

If you haven't got time to watch this, try this instead... Roger Rabbit in 60 seconds with an added twist at the end - http://vimeo.com/17667047

Never noticed all of the details put into Toon Town. Great movie. Gotta go watch it again now. I would drop the '?' from your title, Harry, though. All 'nerds' of the movie know there's no question mark.
-
I meant the version of Star Wars where HAN shoots first.
-
The Pinocchio backgrounds are stunning. Real Artistry there.
-
If archaeologists in the future unearth a copy of Roger Rabbit, they will assume that someone from their time had made it and buried it as a prank. It's unbelievable that movie got made and was of such quality. It's nice AICN throws up Roger Rabbit bones from time to time, even if there's to be no sequel.

Thanks, Harry!

That opening cartoon was more elaborate than most in the 40's
by Kamaji
Think of it: you had characters moving towards and away from the camera, at crazy angles, items growing bigger or smaller: it really was a testament to Richard Williams' skills regarding animation and what it could do.
-
Daffy Duck and Donald Duck in a piano duel. Both Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse being the dirty rotten bastards they should be. Betty Boop being descriminated against because "Nobody hires black'n'whites anymore." Christopher Lloyd as Judge Motherfucking Doom. Jessica Rabbit's legs. Mel Blanc in one of his final performances as the voice of Bugs, Daffy, et al. Fuck Space Jam.
-
WFRR was worth the price of admission for the impossibly, ultimately, epically fuckable JESSICA RABBIT.

You should be on your KNEES thanking Zemeckis for making this film.

JESSICA RABBIT!!!

The talkbacks of a well known online geek community seem like the natural place to look first.

that has subtext and meat to its bones. The class structure of the Toons and the Chinatown-like plot, along with the Judge's "Solution", the Dip (shades of Hitler's solution of an Ayran Nation)...not to mention the special effects, cartoon characters new and classic, how could anyone not like it????
-
no censorship on Jessica and writing on walls plz!
-
Jessica Rabbit's... legs? Her legs were the main attraction? Legs? Granted she's a cartoon character, but...
-
attributes that catch my eye. She's the cartoon Christina Hendricks!

WFRR an incredible, imaginative, surprisingly adult and drop-dead hilarious film.
by Lenny Nero
Roger: Yeah, check the probate. My Uncle Thumper had a problem with his probate, and he had to take these biiiiig pills and drink lots of water. Eddie: Not prostate, you idiot! Probate!
-
I want that shit.

Don't know anything about cinema or film noir, or comedy. There is like some new wave of idiots who go around saying it sucked. Also I'm sure all these same people think Back to the Future II was the best of the trilogy.

Maybe just a coincedence but I clicked on the link and my computer

immediately crashed. Everything froze up on screen and after waiting a good few minutes for it to fix itself (and ending tasks through the task manager) I had to restart using the task manager.
