Hitfix says Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and 6 to shoot back to back!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. That wascally wabbit Drew McWeeny over at Hitfix has a little bit of a scoop this morning regarding the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In a show of confidence of their biggest live action franchise, Disney is apparently quietly telling its cast and crew to begin making room in their schedules to shoot the fifth and sixth Pirates film back to back, much like they did for the second and third films. While I wouldn't count this as a shocking revelation, the deeper meaning is that the currently-in-post Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides must be mightily impressing the suits at the Mouse House. So, good news all around for Capn' Jack fans, methinks. No word on when they'll go, but we do know Johnny Depp has commitments to Dark Shadows and The Lone Ranger in 2011, so we have that combined with development time on the two scripts, I'd say 2012 at the earliest. Keep in mind that Disney's organizing a big Pirates of the Caribbean event at Disneyland (an event that I'm totally jealous of anybody who gets to go) very soon, so I'd imagine, whether it was their plan or not, we'll see an official announcement there.
