An A.B. special... the 3 projects currently in the works for ARNOLD!

Published at:  Nov 23, 1999 4:57:04 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here with this report on the three films leaving Arnold's mouth yesterday morning. TRUE LIES 2 - currently being scripted. THE SIXTH DAY - almost ready to shoot up in Canada. and... wait for it... That's right AB KING... A dream is a wish your heart makes.... CRUSADE - which he claims is being prepped. ALRIGHT. When last we heard, this was the Verhoeven/Ahnult project to end all Arnold projects. The name HAGAN will live for a long time in the history of cinematic lore. Who's lined up for directing chores? Has it been lined up? Please... no hacks please. CRUSADE is the epic film I've been dying to see for the past 4 years (length of time I've known of the project). Keep your ears alert... somethings afoot.

Hey Harry,

I've never wrote you before, but never had reason too. :-)

This morning, Arnold Schwarzenegger was on KROQ's morning show, Kevin &
Bean, here in Los Angeles. He was asked about entering political office,
and he said maybe later on, but right now he's digging being an actor and
making more films. He mentioned three projects -- "True Lies 2", "The
Sixth Day", and a movie about the First Crusades. He said the Crusades
project has been in the works for about 10 years, and he's excited about it
finally being prepped.

I hope that helps.

Cheers!

    Arnie

    by nm movie man

Ahhh, I never really cared for Arnie, he was good in true lies, and Jingle All the way, But homeboy cant act and walk at the same time, he's cool when he does facial expressions, but that's about it, and the dudes built!, end of days will most likely be O.K on a sub par standard, the CG looks cheesy as all hell

    Peace out

    Red Dwarf V's Johnny Depp!

    by dirtfish

I think that Arnie is gonna be back big style. His best films are when he works with directors Cameron, Mcteirnan, Verhoeven and Levant. End of Days will be crap though because of Peter Hyams. Cinema needs Arnie and with Crusade and True Lies 2 he can reclaim his crown that was stolen by hacks like Keanu.

    Crusade - very intersting!

    by mandala

This is good news because I would love to see Verhoven making this movie. Does anyone know if he's still attached? I can imagine that Verhoven would show the true corruption and brutality of those evil mutha's that went murdering, raping and pillaging in the name of Christianity. This is the man that once said that as a director he has no responsibility to the audience whatsoever when it comes to sex and violence. This would be a very interesting movie if he's attached.

    Sorry

    by i'malanpartridge

    True Lies rocked big time!
And I think Kindergartedn Cop is sooooo cool!
The bit where he yells at the kids and his veins are all popping out and his neck is really tense and yells, "Shudd Uppp, Suddd Uppp, Shudd UPpp!" and all the kids start crying.
Classic Partridge! And it's about time Triple H got an ass wooping.

    Great news--Paul Verhoeven and CRUSADE

    by abking

This is great news to my ears Harry. Now only if Paul Verhoeven doesn't drop off of CRUSADE. I want only Paul to helm CRUSADE. On a different subject, wouldn't it be COOL if James Cameron directed a COMMANDO 2 for Fox now that T3 is dead. TRUE LIES 2 then C2 with Schwarzenegger and Cameron. That would ROCK.

    B Movies

    by mandala

AB. Do you really, really want someone to make Commando 2? I would be suprised if this happens. I mean no one is really making those Reagan era films anymore. I mean, I thought America had managed to work some of it's post-Vietnam insecurity out of it's system with rubbish like Rambo, Commando, (Aliens, which I love, incidently) Red Dawn etc.

  • I thought that was another linedup project. . . I'd like to see Doc Savage too - the Crusade thing. . . Arnie and Verhoeven, doing the Crusades. . . I dunno, man. I'm skeptical - I don't know that Ah-nuld is the guy for this, but then I don't know shit about the script. Hey ABKing! Gimme the 411 on this one, eh? 'Cuz the article didn't really tell us a thing.

No thanks. No more Arnold for me. I don't care if he plays the Pope's Tomcat! After "End Of Days", I'd rather watch reruns of "Pee-Wee's Playhouse"! Mika-lika-hi-lika-hienie-hole!

    Crusade script

    by zoyd

The script - if they haven't changed it (I read it over a year ago) - is excellent. Written by Walon Green ("The Wild Bunch," "Sorceror"), it centers around a wronged man (to be played by Ah-nuld) who ends up a vassal of an Arabian prince, falls in with a beautiful Arabian woman, and seeks vengeance on his transgressor (at one time John Malkovich was discussed for this role, though at the time it was merely talk). Sets were in various stages of construction in Spain before financing fell through (I believe Carolco decided to make a pirate movie, the title escapes me). But in any case, the script is excellent, full of action, treachery, exoticism, and violence.

    Crusades, no. Conan, yes.

    by dave_f

Dammit, people, Ah-Nult should not be doing anything remotely medieval/fantasy-oriented if it's not one last Conan movie! Look, he's getting old, but he can still pull off King Conan if he hurries! After the success of the blood-strewn Braveheart, the world is primed for another Conan flick. Remember, folks, he's *destined* to bear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It's destiny, goddammit, you can't fight that shit! Arnold must bear that crown! Then, he must chunk it to the ground and ride out to slaughter enemies by the score! It's gotta happen! Mako said it would! "Let me tell you of the days of HIGH ADVENTURE..."

    Crusade? Hah!

    by powerslave

Everybody knows that 'Cutthroat Island' was superior to 'Crusade' in every possible way. No one wants to admit it, that's all. In 15 years, 'CI' will be viewed as an overlooked classic, a brilliant, stunning jewel, like 'Eyes Wide...' uhh, never mind.

    Damnation Alley

    by cdub

Since "I AM LEGEND" has been shelved, how about Arnold in a remake of "Damnation Alley." Yeah
the cheesy 70's film with Jan Michael Vincent and meat eating Cockroches. The premise is pretty
cool though and with the right director and cool co-stars, it could rock.

    Make 'em Both

    by joe buck

Crusades sounds great, but King Conan with Verhoeven would be the proverbial shit. I'd like to see True Lies 2 just to see Cameron make another action movie. He knows what it takes to make quality films, he just needs to get off his ass and make one.

    by cassius the evil

Damn it Harry, why'd you have to remind me of the name of one of the most potentially cool sci-fi shows of all time? Now I'm all mistie-eyed... sniff... I want Crusade back on the air, dammit! I want Galen and Eilerson and Gideon and the Excalibur... I want J. Michael Straczynski... It's not fair for them to make a movie with *that name* attached! It's not fair, damn you!!!

    True Lies Action

    by valley knight

I remember James Cameron talking about a sequel for True Lies awhile ago. Jamie Lee would be his partner, and that the big set piece would be a demolition of famed clock Big Ben, in London! Souns cool, but we never know with the King of the World.

    Sgt. Rock past hope?

    by beeblebrox

A rumor from years ago had Arnold Sylvester and (tweety) Bruce doing this movie. I assume the idea got shitcanned because the cost of the three actors would preclude any chance of it making a profit. Was this ever anything, or was it hopeing on a fanboy site, the kernel of which was left to fester in the attic of my mind until now (you gotta clean thoes attics once in a while).

    Arnold, Sly, & Bruce !?

    by darth siskel

If any studio put Arnold, Sly, & Bruce in an action movie, even if it cost them $60 million just to pay them, the movie would rake it in. Imagine Cameron directed? Oh my god. Somebody slap me I'm dreaming.

None of this should come before "Running Man: Special Edition!"

    by wakeupbomb

Am I the only one who would love to see this? Imagine all those classic one-liners in fully enhanced digital! Quite honestly, I find this to be the most entertaining of all Arnold's movies (besides Predator, in which he was admittedly not the main attraction).

    The Running Man

    by stile

Does anyone else think that the Running Man should be redone to fit more with the original SK story? The story was so dark; an indictment or corporate and upper class America, and besides which, it was a better story than "slicing his victims into quivering piles of bloody sushi"

    Hey, Marketing Man...

    by kikstad

So you think that "most of the public is stupid?" Maybe that's why a lot of the grandiose marketing campaigns end up blowing up in the studio's faces -- because you "marketing geniuses" always seem to under-estimate the intelligence of the public. The public is smarter than you marketing guys think. Someday you folks will learn that our culture is very media/marketing savvy. -- Kik (a fellow marketing man who thinks of the public as just as smart, if not smarter, than he is).

    TERMINATOR #3

    by fav

Has anyone heard anything new about Terminator #3? T2 is the best movie in film HISTORY. It is simply amazing. I can watch it over and over again and be simply amazed. I have been getting teased the last couple of years with rumors of a t3, but I don't know if there is any truth to any of it. ARNOLD is indeed the MAN. I'm glad he is finally back on the big screen where he belongs. If any of you share the same enthusiasm, you should check the T2-3D ride out in Universal Studios FL, it is an amazing acheivemant. the ride itself is simply worth the plane ticket and and hassle of going to Florida, TRUST ME!!! But if any of you know anything about T3, please let me know!!!!!!! I'LL BE BACK!!!!!

True Lies 2 will only work if...

    by all thumbs

...you have Tom Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis. Their characters made the movie interesting and hilarious! Yeah, Tom Arnold is not the greatest actor in the known universe, but in that movie he was the more than needed comic relief. And who can forget Jamie Lee's little "dance number" for Arnold? Wipe the drool off, fanboys...I meant that it was funny, not a turn on, because she kept messing up and ended up smashing her husband with a phone in the end.
