Hercules Has Seen Friday’s Premiere Of The Cartoon Network’s YOUNG JUSTICE!!
I am – Hercules!!
Let me just interrupt here the busiest Thanksgiving weekend ever to throw a little love at The Cartoon Network’s “Young Justice,” a quasi-sequel to both “Justice League Unlimited” and “Teen Titans,” but set in its own continuity.
What I like about it:
* This could turn out to be the most inclusive cartoon DC Universe yet, with a Justice League that sports not only Batman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Flash and their sidekicks, but also Captain Marvel, Hawkman, two Green Lanterns – Hal Jordan (finally) AND John Stewart – and old man magician crimefighter Zatara (whose membership in this series’ Justice League suggests a girl magician may soon to joining the sidekick squad.) The first 16 episodes are said to utilize 135 DC comics characters.
* It’s set on Earth-16, with a Dick Grayson Robin and a Wally West Kid Flash.
* It starts out a lot better than the War of the Worlds storyline that launched the “Justice League” TV show.
* Its voice cast includes Bruce Greenwood as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Green Arrow, Danica McKellar as Miss Martian and George Eads as Flash.
* There are strong hints this series will employ more continuity than any prior DC-derived series.
* The credits give props to Kane, Siegel, Shuster, Marston AND Joseph Samachson (the latter for creating J’onn Jonzz, Manhunter From Mars).
* Some of the design work used in the series is quite striking.
An hour-long first episode arrives tonight and the rest of its first season launches sometime in January.
7 p.m. Black Friday. The Cartoon Network.

...So, no Impluse.
-
But what's up with this fake Aqua-Lad? Or is it Moray Eel Boy? What's with that? And why does Aquaman talk funny? Aside from the Aqua-people, pretty dad gum cool.
-
I will be watching
-
It sounds promising, hopefully it will be better than Batman The Brave and Bold. For some reason I just never got into that show.
-
i heard he was doing batman for another DTV movie but didnt know he would also get a regular gig. thats pretty cool as i thought he did a great job in Red Hood.
-
I'll definitely give it a shot.
-
Can't get into it or Teen Titans. I'm hoping Young Justice is actually watchable.
-
Coming from a Marvel man, this is actually quite good.
-
To know what earth 16 is. Anyone want to save me the trouble of googling it?
-
Seriously, if my 8 year old self knew that someday, this Superfriends bullshit would give way to Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans, I would have tried to freeze myself to bridge the 25 year gap.
-
My understanding is that Kid Flash is Wally West, not Bart.
-
finally back to the good stuff. Only a few things about teen titans was deathstroke and Michael Rosenbaum voicing kid flash and then his adult version in the JL series. This new series looks like a good start.
-
it's about time they introduced a superboy. After all those legal problems, it's about time they gived the cloned chaaracter his due.
-
...and no, I'm not doing it for you. Looks good, and thankfully way less campy than the Brave and the Bold series, which though it has its charms is notably inferior to the previous Timm/Dini Batman/Superman/Justice League series. Actually, if you want some G-R-E-A-T Marvel-style action, and you get the Disney XD channel, I HIGHLY commend the new Avengers series to you. It is SUCH great Marvel superhero porn. If you've ever wanted the full-on, no bullshit versions of your favorite Avengers heroes fighting *exactly* like in the books, check this shit out pronto! It melds the classic Avengers with the "New Avengers" origins, and it's better than ALL previous Marvel cartoons. Put together. Seriously.
-
Young justice=Teen Titans? Well, it cant be as bad as Next avengers which was the worst of marvel's DTV animated movies IMO.Can't wait to check out tonight's 1 hour Avengers special, Gamma world.
-
OK, Now I'm very interested in checking this one out. Plus it has Capn Marvel, so that's an extra incentive.
-
I never thought anything about when it aired but i recently rediscovered the series and i absolutley loved it. It didn't have the impact of TAS but i liked that it carried arcs over a season. Where the hell is the bluray?
-
hope the animation stays that crisp. was neat to see a different take on mr.freeze that kind of merges the comic one with the old animated series one.
-
Looks more like Blaqualad.
-
I wasn't a huge fan of the two-part opening, but since that it's been firing on all cylinders and has easily been the most-inclusive superhero show I've seen yet. It doesn't wait to do an origin story for everyone, it just assumes the complete Marvel Universe exists and dives in. Arnim Zola? Camera-headed monstrosity. MODOK? "that is... a very big head". I'm enjoying it much more than the stodgy start of JLU... But we'll have to see if it can reach those heights.
-
Anyway, this looks like warm shit. Why do they fight 4 villains with the exact same powers? Just to be extra annoying? FUCK sidekicks! It's like "Let's take all the worst ideas of comics and put them together into one show".
-
I don't think like some corporate bigwig, but it's really neat how Justce is on at 7- a good lead in for warners's 8'oclock powerhouse.
-
But unlucky. He never got a season 3 for Gargoyles or Spectacular Spiderman. I really hope this show goes the distance.
-
the prospect of thebatmantvseries would not be as satisfying as a Justice League live-action, cause its obvious that welling still wnts to work. and a weeklyseriesof the friendship between theworld's finest and their competition for Diana's attention would be ratings success.I can wait till DKrisingisdone. But this young justice show could test the waters. The peter david comic with the same name was too-good-to-be-true beause it never took itself seriously.
-
considering how I wasnt too happy with the animation character designs at first and not to mention, I didn't really care for IronMan armored adventures or spatacular Spider Man.It's no JLU, but it's the closest contender in regards to ensemble super hero shows.yes, I'm also glad they added Modok and the very obscure Zola to the series.(Modok will rock in MVC3!)Cool emo-esque opening theme BTW.
-
... in the other animated movie (red hood, i believe), but I LOVE that they are using to GLs. Thanks for the heads up herc, would have missed this.
-
That's got tons of characters and references to DC history.
-
Herc may be wrong, but he was referring to Zatanna's dad. According to Herc Zatara is in the League, which suggests Zatanna will show up in Young Justice.
-
...is underappreciated. Hard to say why. Primarily because it's all over the place, really. They'll throw in a musical number one week, and Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle brutally dying the next week. Plastic Man goofy one week, the Spectre turning a villain into cheese and feeding him to rats the next week.<p> What's arguably the most important thing about the show is the producers' sheer love of the DC universe. Young Justice may give us 135 characters, but B&B has already done that. And I'll bet YJ gives us most of the same 135 we've seen before. When YJ gives us the Freedom Fighters, Sgt. Rock, GI Robot, B'wana Beast, Dr. Double-X, the Ten-Eyed Man, and pays homage by giving us classic Batman actors like Kevin Conroy and Adam West, I'll take it seriously. Otherwise, for now I'd consider it one step above the DC animated movies, compared to the love we saw with the JL/JLU producers.
-
Yes,it's highly underrated but a very good series and at times can be dark especially after watching eps like siege of starro part 2 and Doom Patrol in which both had bittersweet endings.I'm glad the producers decided to add obscure characters from the DCU like Kirby's Kamandi and OMAC.
-
animation looks better than usual.
-
"Lie to me again, and crashing into a wall head-on will be the least painful activity of your evening." Whoo! Rock on!
-
We're watchin' tonight, me an my boy, who is 8 so yeah, it is a great time to be an 8-year-old. As he said last Friday after Batman: Brave and the Bold "Knights of Tomorrow," "Best....Batman...episode...ever." Then I said what about "Chill of the Night?" "Oh yeah, that was really good, too."
-
One episode it wants to be a child friendly Batman with goofy plots and characters and then the next it wants to be a darker homage to the history of the dark knight. However by changing tone back and forth like that every few episodes it alienates audiences and they tend to tune out. I honestly haven't viewed an episode since the beginning of season 2, It's not a bad show - I just lost interest in it because it could never pick what tone it wanted to be<P>The chill of the night episode defently was great, but you tune in the next week and it's an episode about aquaman on a family vacation - Pick a tone and go with it!

Unfathomable why there has been no Avengers coverage on AICN
by Bald Evil
The current Avengers cartoon is great, a near-perfect mix of old school classic Marvel and newer iterations. I couldn't ask for more from a cartoon series (on Disney at least). How has this series totally gone under the AICN radar?
-
Does that mean Superman Jr. and Batman Jr. will make appearances?<p> I shudder to imagine...
-
Surprisingly heartbreaking.
-
Seems like a stretch to make Aqua Lad black but whatever.
-
The new Avengers cartoon is pretty freakin' awesome.
-
I'm biased but I just got done watching Under the Red Hood and that movie was friggin' great, I enjoyed it more than anything Nolan ever did and I don't even mean that as a knock, I just ENJOYED it more. This is Vietti's next thing and it looks awesome as well, the guy is great, and super cool personally.
-
So Aqua Lad's title has been vacant until now. Apparently the new Aqua Lad's father is Black Manta, the arch-nemesis of Aquaman. Here we find Aquaman is the new Aqualad's mentor. Avengers is over-rated. It's okay. I like what I've seen with Young Justice so far, definitely a must-see.
-
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes on Disney XD is pretty good! They released the episodes in a weird way, but it's definitely worth a watch! As for this, I'm not enthusiastic about the Young aspect of it, but everything else sounds interesting. I'll definitely check it out.
-
Good to see some other Avengers fans here! The cartoon seems to have not caught on to the radar of most people. Not sure why it isn't a bigger deal. It's The Avengers!

Looks like one of the humorless direct-to-DVD movies
by Margot Tenenbaum
that DC has been putting out lately. <p>What do the cartoon-makers have against Wonder Girl anyway?
-
The version of Mr. Freeze from The Animated Adventures was way better.<p> Maybe Earth-16 is "A version of the DC Universe that sucks"?
-
...with its posters, in full, early. If you guys could give us links to shows like this, exhibiting full-length premiere episodes, we could carry the early buzz and spread the word about them to the fanboy and fangirl community, etc., at large, sharing the links with our family members, friends and online acquaintances, along the way. Just a suggestion, but that is the stuff the creates real grassroots viral campaigns, that are organically inspired, and can get these networks big upfront ratings for their premiere episodes.<BR><BR>BTW, what happened to the new AICN site design that Harry promised us months ago? I haven't heard anything about it since? Thumbs up, can't wait to see it--but I'd love and edit button and spellcheck feature...when it happens!!!
-
Yes, it's obvious the writers have extensive knowledge of Marvel history, but it's also obvious the mandate is to write for kids between the ages of 7-10. <p> Don't we already have Marvel superhero squad for that?<p> Young Justice looks like it's going the Justice League Unlimited route, i.e., all ages and complex. Plus, Greg Weisman, the creative mind behind one of the greatest animated shows ever produced, Gargoyles, is captaining the ship, so i'm excited. Weisman knows how to construct a story arc.

-
...the city is underwater and black people are dark-skinned because of having evolved to process strong sunlight. If anything, they should all be hairless albinos.

Just caught "Thor The Mighty" today...great Asgard stuff. All in all, not a bad 'toon, but I'm iffy on the voice of Tony Stark. Just not alcoholically enough...

Outisde Chance, then there shouldn't be darkhaired Atlanteans ei
by Dreadlock Holmes
Like Tempest. But following that logic Black Atlanteans shouldn't be that far fetched. Like Black Kryptonians.
-
Then why can't atlanteans be dark?
-
Nothing about the Atlanteans' appearance really makes sense. I was just pointing out that no black Atlanteans would actually be one of the fews that did.
-
my racist gradfather says that black people are afraid of water... unless it's of the melon variety
-
What the fuck is Earth 15 or whatever it is you nerds are babbling about? Is there a new Clone Wars tonight?
-
not worth my time. I was delighted when I saw this title, thinking they'd found a way to bring my favorite speedster back from the dead. But no, so, not for me.
-
But not bad. Maybe the rest of the episodes will move along a little better now that they've got the set-up out of the way. Needs more Green Arrow and Speedy though.....
-
Not crazy about a few of the voices, Dick Grayson is pretty irritating. The animation is nice! I couldn't get through 15 minutes of the first Avengers two parter, but since so many people here are plugging it, I'll check it out again. I'm WAY more familiar with Marvel, and all I've ever wanted was a decent Marvel cartoon, but have yet to see anything that touched Warner's Bat and JLA stuff. Planet Hulk was pretty good though. B
-
is the characterization of Robin.
-
Just watched Thor the Mighty. Ugh. With Disney owning Marvel now, I hoped for animation that wasn't pathetic. The Leader sounded like Combs, which is cool, and the only real highlight lol. Bring on more DC stuff, since Planet Hulk remains the only watchable Marvel cartoon. B
-
Eyeroll...<p> Maybe Aqualad is a wetback!<p> Get it? Get it?!<p> It's funny because he lives underwater!!!<p> Ah, you're no fun any more...
-
Sorry, YJ was just... there. Part of the problem is that the four initial teammates are kind of generic. Other than Aqualad's whatever the heck powers (first he borrows water, then he supplies it, and some... electricity?), they all just run and punch. Robin's laughing from the shadows got old. Generic genomorph monsters, and a Blockbuster that looks nothing like the original. Superman being a douche, and the League being jerks.<p> Good points: the opening fights against ice villains. Kid Flash was animated for superspeed pretty well. Aqualad the character was interesting. Speedy... what was the point of bringing him in just to have him walk away?<p> Overall, I'd give it a B. As someone noted above, it seemed like the direct-to-video DC movies, and I've never been wowed by them, either. Weisman may be the greatest for Gargoyles, but some of his work then has been on and off. He did two of the weakest B&Bold episodes, and gave us The Batman. And I'd take the latter over YJ right now. I'm willing to give it time to develop, but not impressed so far.
-

I love that Supes wasn't all accepting of Suberboy from the get
by AnakinsDiapers
...as being cloned has to have him feeling violated.<p> I'm also sure speedy will show up again at a later date. Probably going by the name Arsenal. It's called plot threads. I'm also willing to bet that Ice villains coming out of the wood work wasn't a throw away occurence.
-
This is Earth-16. Different rules will apply.
-
of teen titans. I hated that shit.
-
But they should also make sense at the time. They build up Speedy as a major hero type, and he practically sets up the whole concept of them going off on their own... and then he disappears. Narratively it didn't work, especially when we got to wait two months for that thread to pick up.<p> Plus taking Speedy out of the equation takes Green Arrow with him, and he seemed to be the one who liked the teens as full Leaguers. Until Batman made his mustache droop. I don't think I want to see a Justice League where Batman, Aquaman, Flash, and J'onn all agree on something.<p> They also use the direct-to-video J'onn's stylized look, which I'm not a big fan of. For a guy who is supposed to be the "heart of the Justice League," he was pretty snotty in this one.
-
I thought that's where they were going with it. Seem him in a month.
-
two different WORLDS!!! Yes, I love seeing the battle of PC ignorance vs normal ignorance. Whatever, guys, I think the new Aqualad turned out pretty awesome, particularly since Garth is still going to appear, and making this kid Black Manta's son is the coolest move ever! I fully agree that Robin being Jason Todd or Tim Drake, and Impulse instead of Wally's Kid Flash would have been more right--but this isn't bad. I am NOT impressed by the Avengers show. Anyone saying that's better than any of DC's shows (save Teen Titans) is blinded by their Marvel whoredom.
-
even better. The series is well written and the animation from studio Madhouse far outweighs all of the Marvel based animated projects. One caveat, the villians (Zodiac) are lame and a bit too generic.Good Series nonetheless.
-
can't wait for the series to premiere in january. it'll be interesting to see how they use "speedy" in the future or they will use him at all.....
-
I enjoyed it, but...the protagonist are absolute freakin' punks. I totally understand that the show's creators want a degree of conflict between YJ and the League, but there's no way any version of the sidekicks (especially any Dick Grayson Robin) could ever be as ridiculously undisciplined, reckless, or disrespectful as they are in this show and not be dead or in jail in a week. It was so bad - especially at the end when the sidekicks, after pretty much demolishing a city block, basically tell the League to go frak themselves - that I kept thinking that they're like junior versions of the young monsters in Kingdom Come. XD Anyway, like I say in the thread title, I still like the show, I just hope subsequent episodes aren't so lazy. ...And as an aside, IMHO, comic 'toons really, really need a content and presentation revolution akin to what comics got in the mid-80s. Something game-changing - relatively realistic stories, with real consequences. Because all they are right now, in spite of better animation and more complex stories, is the same ol' stuff - good guys go against the grain and succeed despite ridiculous odds, then everyone has a laugh at the end - that they're ever been. -_-
-
to Bruce Timm's Justice League? Or is it apples and oranges.
-
He will have become Red Arrow and will join the team halfway through the season.
-
one hour. Hows that for a premier. Will be watching with great interest.
-
...having to be resolved or "make sense at the time". It's a plot thread. By definition it's supposed to lay the ground work for future development. Anyone vaguely aware of the show and paying attention to the marketing knows Arrowette is going to be the archer of the group. So the question was, how does that happen if Speedy starts off as one of the side kicks? Now we know he was disgruntled. His story will most likily pick up at a later date. I don't get the problem unless someone really really wants Roy on the show as a regular.
-
The government wants Annabelle to have some sort of Thanksgiving dinner so I made some “Thanksgiving” like food. She already eats Sweet Potatoes (which I’ll be making more of today) and Butternut Squash is also a Thanksgiving like food especially served hot. I just need a little more variety. I made Cranberries and Green Beans. I’m concerned that the Cranberries may be too fucking tart. I did add Apple Juice and a bit of sugar to sweeten it up so the little twat wouldn't cry. We’ll see. I was afraid that the Green Beans may freeze weird but they were just fine. I’ve perfected the art of releasing the Green Bean cubes from the tray. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I’m happy with how this is all turning out. So today I’m making Sweet Potatoes as well as Pears for the dog, Fuckster. I might even do Apples. We’ll see. I don’t want to make too much since these foods only last a month and the undead walk the earth. I can also make carrots. So many choices. So little time.

did someone above mention Atlantis and Universe?
by DioxholsterImperium
i sense these keywords whenever they are written anywhere around the web, oh wait, someone just posted "universe" on youtube. i should check it out.
-
The first five are pretty bad. They were made in segments for online broadcast then joined up for TV episodes. The show itself, beginning with "Breakout" is much better. The first five lay some of the background for the first real episode, so if you have the time, catch them all, otherwise its easy picked up in "Breakout".
-
anyone know if this reairs soon? I forgot all about it
-
A good take on Robin especially. I dunno much about comics, but the whole "young rebel" angle works, epsecially with Kid Arrow, or who that guy is in the beginning. Made the other kids look like spineless little shits. Also, I hope they'll bring up Superboy's half human heritage. The best part about the character is that he's the lovechild of Supes and Luthor. Pretty messed up.

Batman would've kick Robin ass on the spot! And I imagine Wonder Woman would've done the same to Superboy!<p>That said I hope this series won't make the JL seemed lame to showup the YJ! That would be a major turnoff!

An Amazing Premiere for a Promising Teen Titans/ JLA Lovechild
by Shub-Wankalot
I look forward to the series continuation in January. Quite awesome, indeed. Voice acting, plots, subplots, character chemistry and development, overarching story, and coolness animation...all there "check." You can find a torrent of the show if you missed it. I've seen them already floating around.
-
I love the huge range of characters being used. But as an older DC fan, I find it a bit jarring to see various sidekicks from different eras of DC history thrust together. Obviously, the creators just used the characters they deemed to be most marketable regardless of established continuity. The new Aqualad in particular seems to be shoehorned into the show. It would have been nice to see Garth interact as a contemporary with Dick, Wally and Roy. And since I've only seen the preview video and not the show itself, can anyone tell me if Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl are involved? During the opening montage of ice-themed villains, I was disappointed Diana and Donna didn't show up to battle Minister Blizzard.
-
... they DID set him up here to be a member of the team. He only seems to have missed the "invite" because he left before the others. If he ain't joining the team, why show him here? What was so critical here that they needed to show it to bring him in as Red Arrow later? He's arguably the key character in the first few minutes and then poof he's gone.

I haven't watched a DC 'toon since Justice League ended
by Nasty In The Pasty
I miss the inter-series continuity Bruce Timm and Paul Dini built up over the course of four shows and 15 years. Now, it seems like there's a new DC superhero 'toon EVERY YEAR. and not one of them is related to the other. Plus, the music sucks. I miss Shirley Walker and the days of ORCHESTRAL music is superhero cartoons.

who cares about cartoons
-
I think we just need to come to the realization that nothing is going to compete with the Dini/Timm universe. If they're work is what we are comparing these cartoons to, then everything is going to end up tasting a little sour.
-
They introduced Speedy to set up a hole in the team that needs filling, and to introduce the drama of a disgruntled friend later on. It doesn't need to be "critical". Setting up any plot thread need not be "critical" the moment it's introduced.<p> Really, unless someone is a Roy Harper fanboy there is absolutely nothing wrong with the initial setup. The incident establishes that the youguns had issues with feeling left out and cuddled, and it establishes Roy, like Ollie, is a hothead and given to taking rash actions if pushed. When he turns up later, it creates drama, which i assume is what the viewers want.<p> Going on about a character being presented early in the narrative and leaving abruptly seems strange to me. The show isn't a one off. It's a series. I think the writers should be encouraged to do stuff like that.
-
good show so far
-
what time will it start showing in Jan
-
If you have ever read a DC book, this should not have to even be explained to you.
-
the rest was okay but that setup with the "today is the day" thing sucked. I'd have had them in school and texting each other. show a little bit of their other identity. that's going to be something that most of these shows miss. to work personal stories into it like the books do. this almost has an old school Superfriends vibe to the art and setting. Which is good. I'll watch a few more. It could have been worse. I loved the self-deprecating line "Speedy is Green Arrow's sidekick and not The Flash's?" "How messed up is that?"
-
and then, maybe Red Arrow, though there's going to be an Arrowette girl archer. Verdict form old dad: B. From target audience son: A-. Wife doesn't like Greenwood as Batman; she's a Conroy loyalist and that's hard to argue with, though I think Greenwood's okay. Animation better than Avengers (though we watched marathon of that yesterday, too).
-
If you don't like it, just don't watch it. It's a cartoon on CARTOON NETWORK, stop being such whiny little comic-book bitches.
-
I dug it well enough. I took issue with the overly aggressive Superboy clone ,even when he first appeared he had more of the attitude Kid Flash exhibited in the episode. Eager to prove he was SUPERMAN but with a cocky sort of swagger to him as opposed to being a Wolverine of Steel type. I can see why they'd do it for team dynamic purposes but I hope they don't play it up too much. Greenwood as Batman just sounds like Conroy's understudy. If Conroy isn't available I guess he's fine but it's basically Greenwood doing his Conroy impersonation.
-
kick ass little cartoon and way more in line with the way DC Comics read these days than anything else on TV. Brave and the Bold is strictly a kids show as far as I'm concerned. It'll be interesting to see if this can come close to Justice League levels of Greatness. I also didn't hate Legion when it was on.
-
I dvr'd the run they had on yesterday. It was a pretty good representation of the Avengers and their history. The Animation was good. Loved Cap's introduction (except the Nazis are all Hyrda agents),They should have Hydra be a splinter group of the Reich...that might make sense. But it is a show for Kids and teens, not necessarily for 40 somethings
-
Seemed kind of strange that it was a Female-less gang, I am kind of surprised by that (I know they are adding) I would have had Ms. Martian tag along invisibly had had her help them out and introduce her as the shy outsider. Wondergirl should be part of this. I am an old timer, I wish "Speedy" would have stayed "Speedy" for awhile
-
<p>I was... whelmed. Wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Too bad they have Robin listed as Dick Grayson in IMDB. Would be better if it was Tim Drake. Then they could still introduce Dick as Nightwing in some other episode later on down the road.</p> <p>And I love the Hulk episode of the Avengers: EMHs.</p>
-
contribute to the direct to video movies. Those flicks have that style, or a pretty close approximation of it. Alas, they contain absolutely no continuity for you slobs obssessed with minutate. And that's a good thing.
-
In addition to Ms. Martian, they'll be adding Arrowette (since Speedy will be back as Red Arrow later on), and with Zatara so prominent in the main league, it's easy to assume that Zatanna might join later on. Wish they had Wonder Girl on the team too though.
-
... is Tony Stark/Iron Man's voice. REALLY BAD CHOICE!!!
-
Why would "slobs" be concerned by small details? If they're slovenly, careless, and lazy by nature? I'd think slobs didn't care at all about detail. Please at least level some more concise insults toward the people who actually care about years of history and property consistency. As far as Timm and Dini's work is concerned, while they tend to be stand alone works they for the most part ooze respect for the properties and their histories as much as they can in a stunted run time.
-
doesn't it sound more like Jack Black imitating Downing?
-
The character design was nearly identical, and the continuity with satellite and membership drive is compatible.
-
However, I liked the Avengers episode (Gamma World) a lil better.
-
Captain Marvel/Thanos and then, Warlock/Thanos, based on Jim Starlin story arcs including the books such as Two-in-One, Team-Up and Avengers annual.
-
Herc do your reputation a favour and run a TB on Terriers. The 12th episode just brought it all together and it is awesome!

The young justice pilot was awesome. I like where it's heading, but is this set before Batman: UTRH, since Greenwood did the same voice for batsy in both?
-
I haven't watched this yet. I DVR'ed it and will watch it later today. I'm seriously digging the Avengers cartoon though. Yeah, the animation is kinda lacking and Iron Man does sound like Jack Black, but overall it is cool as hell to see an Avengers cartoon show on TV. That weak ass 90's Avengers cartoon was offensively bad. This one is much more credible.
-
I DVR'd all the Avengers eps and watched the first two. I enjoyed Young Justice more. I'll probably check out the rest of the Avengers eps but I'm pretty sure I'd like it more if I'd never seen JL/JLU.

Sly humour - check, fancy pants animation and cool character design - check, first time since JLU went off air I've felt that amine vibe - check, 5 seasons please.

I don't think that's a Wally Kid Flash...
by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview
...Flash seemed awfully un-Barry-like.
-
Hawkeye vs. The Black Widow, Iron Man having leadership issues with Cap, the Leader transforming all of Las Vegas into Gamma irradiated freaks, Thor vs. Absorbing Man... The show is like Marvel porn. And next, the Masters of Evil. Sweet.

I think something has gone wrong when you have to have a teen-age cast to make superheroes appealing to kids. Batman and Superman shouldn't be played like the audiences's disapproving fathers. Hell, if Batman and Superman show up in a series it should only illustrate how much more you'd rather be watching their adventures.
-
That only airs a show one time? With the exception of Adult swim it seems they don't repeat, esp specials. Would like to have caught this.
-
It certainly has some potential, and there are cool ideas throughout the premier. I especially liked the little creatures that sit on your shoulder and transmit mind control signals. The animation is obviously anime influenced, but I felt it worked. There's so much cheap animation coming in to the U.S. these days that I'm sure that's the style many youngsters are used to. The team dynamic also worked well. Looks like it's a lot more interesting than THE Batman, a show I absolutely hated.
-
If you missed the premiere on Cartoon Network, you can still catch it there...before it disappears. This animated treat is so full of promising awesome.

"Miss Martian" has to be the worst code name for a hero...
by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview
...since "Mary Marvel". Seriously, it's like calling Superman "Mister Krypton" or Green Lantern "Officer Oa".
-
...it's on "CArtoon" Network, so, 2 seasons of airing intermittently before it's replaced by yet another live-action Scooby Doo series.
-
It was very cool, though I wish they gave Dianna at least 1 line! I also would just prefer a series about the real Justice League, and not the brats, but I'll take it. Greenwood is a great replacement for Conroy. I will definitely watch this when it airs regularly. Unless the Avengers animation got 5 times better since the webisodes, it's pathetic and I can't deal with it. C'mon Disney, Warners kicks your ass up and down the block.
-
For those complaining about the initial four villains with the same powers, that's a red herring and has zip to do with the rest of the episode. The fighting on this is the best I've seen since the Earth 2 Justice league movie. They need to bulk up Robin a bit more to his athletic self and not make him too much of a computer geek. Tim Drake was the techie, Dick Grayson was the natural acrobat with leadership quality. Didn't need to have the Martian Manhunter neice either, that aside it was one hell of an entertaining introduction and way better drawn and animated than the Avengers cartoon too.
-
but are older fans going to still like this when they have episodes without any of those adult characters in them? Sure, the arrival of the Justice League may have got people excited, but that could be all we ever see of some of those heroes. They did suggest Red Tornado and Black Canary will be sticking around, though.
-
I will like it less than I would have otherwise, but it's good enough to check out.
-
Not as instantly addictive as Avengers: EMH, but for a DC effort, this was pretty intense with the whole Cadmus circumstance. "Got your nose!" Creepy and funny at the same time. The Miss Martian thing does come out of left field for those (like me) who aren't up on current events in the comics, and I too wonder where Wonder Girl is. She'd serve as the required female and be far more rooted in the DCU. That was something I always liked about the old YJ book, that it had direct counterparts of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the Flash on board. Still, this is the best DC cartoon since the end of Justice League Unlimited and despite the kid orientation, there won't be that undercurrent of embarrassment that you feel while watching the campy-yet-fun shenanigans on Batman: Brave & The Bold. Looking forward to the next ep!
-
Kind of stodgy and unexciting though... the whole thing felt subdued, and reminded me too much of the beginning of the Justice League cartoon. I doubt this one will appeal to the younger demographic much unless it begins to have a bit more fun. I'd still much rather be watching the adventures of the main heroes rather than their sidekicks.
