Aha! My life is now validated. Can only go downhill from here.
-
Last I saw Brock was back.
-
i'm glad it's finally here. i skipped watching all the rest of the recent batch of episodes because i wanted to watch the rest of season 4 in one go rather than waiting a month for the finale. can't wait for a good ol' fashioned brock sampson throwdown...
-
Doc and Jackson are just horrible procrastinators. The finale was still unfinished last week and it's also their fault, that we had to wait so long for the second half of season 4. Adult Swim loves their show! I mean, after they went way over their deadline with S 4.2, they even allowed them to make the finale hour long, which means they gave them time to re-write the script!
-
I mean Robo-Bo? I nearly wet myself.<p>Usually have to re watch it to catch most of the jokes I missed.
-
I hope they find their direction again soon, because season four really seemed to flounder. There's stil a couple of gems in there and the plot advanced in interesting ways, but Sgt. Hatred and Sphinx in general seem to really be bogging the show down badly.
-
Can't wait to see the finale tonight.
-
There was a video interview of the two, and they mentioned that a renewal had not happened yet. It was filmed in September or October. I'm hoping it will be... and I have loved the past half-season! My gf is even watching it now.
-
This, the more than once openly expressed love from Adult Swim for this show and its creators, plus the seriously well selling DVDs equal a VERY high chance of a 5th Season.
-
It is one of the few shows I look forward to each year.
-
I cannot say how much my friends and I love what Doc and Jackson due on this show each week. It is one of the greatest television series ever and it just keeps on giving, season after season. Hopefully they'll do several more seasons. The Ventures are brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
-
I can't agree with the comments about this season being lackluster. This show has never dissapointed me.
-
Just got a kicked in the balls!
-
Is amazing. One of my favorite episodes ever.
-
And I'm already declaring the season finale as one of the best!<p>And any Hank episode is great to me!
-
Never thought I would use the slang but damn! And the meaning to Rusty Venture is hilarious!
-
God I have enjoyed this season. I can't comprehend why some these talkbackers are saying this season was weak. YOU ARE PEDOPHILES AND I WANT TO KILL YOU BROCK SAMSON STYLE!
-
so they can hire more voice actors
-
Honestly, wow! Doc and Jackson really knocked it out of the park. Keep at it guys :)
-
...was excellent. Great choice in music as well.

I thought everyone will be dead when Brock gets back
by David Cloverfield
That's how good this show is. So unpredictable.
-
So many ups and downs this season, but holy shit was that a great finale. Really bringing the heat, and the hour-long format brought out the best in their storytelling. It's clear that they've been thinking too big lately, and needed more time to tell these crazy stories. And poor Rusty Venture and his new, very unfortunate namesake.
-
As usual the Monarch got the biggest laugh from me with the "We swing!" followed by the delusional "The Monarch bested you again!" speeches. I want it to continue.
-
After my constant hectoring to see the Kim thread closed (Triana's friend on the double-date episode years ago), they did so by making her a (shudder) Christian and not giving her any more screen time. Oh well, thanks for the memories... http://video.adultswim.com/the-venture-bros/youre-in-the-guild.html
-
Is absolutely correct. Think of the gold standard as Hank Azaria: it's impossible to tell that Apu, Chief Wiggum, and Moe are the same guy. Compare that to The Outrider (congested Doc Hammer), Dermot (gruff Doc Hammer), and Billy (Doc Hammer doing Wallace Shawn)
-
That was not great.
-
That reply was the most banal thing I've ever read. Did it really need to be said, considering you've already made your feelings clear? You're now just coming off contrary.

The limited voice pool is admittedly a weakness
by Shut the Fuck up Donny
but when Doc and Jackson pick a voice to be done by somebody else, they nail the casting...So, I'll give them credit making the best of their limited budget.
-
1) Definitive season 5 - with Warburton intact. A Gathers-headed OSI restored to bad-ass glory. Brock back at Venture compound for undislosed "critical mission". Shore Leave headed Sphinx working as double-covert arm of OSI. 21 - what becomes of 21?
-
The roundtable of ex-boy detectives/sidekicks was great: John Hodgman, Seth Green (doing his normal voice), Patton Oswalt and Brendan Small as Action Johnny. And, of course, getting Kevin Conroy to spoof himself was the geek coup of the past year.
-
No more important, or louder, or better than any other poster's. You seem to have singled mine out for no other reason than that it didn't agree with yours, which is a bit odd, I think.
-
Renewed life in the what I thought was over Dean & Triana would-be romance, Colonel Hunter Gathers becoming the new head of O.S.I., Henchman 21 saying screw you to the Monarch and flipping to SPHINX, and of course, the whole Brock and Molotov Cocktease sequence. Even better were the words in the credits saying "THE VENTURE BROS. WILL RETURN"...Awwwww, yeah.
-
Haven't seen the finale yet, but this season was actually kind of boring. Not a fan of Hatred, and really really sick of Quizboy - not sure why the writers love that duo so much.

Admittedly Rex, I did preface that I was being an Asshole...

Yeah, season 4 definitely shifted gears--especially after the 3-part bloodfilled season three season finale. I can see that disappointing fans. It really is a shift in storytelling from how they attacked season 1, when it focused on more "bang" endings each episode instead of doing a slow burn episodes to an explosive season finale. <p> There's one quick scene of Brock in the end of the season finale that almost seems to acknowledge that maybe some action was missing...
-
Just strange to take someone to task for saying it's "not great." If I'd said it sucked, was lame, crap, dull as dogshit, etc - then I'd expect the usual online response of "WHAT?!!!!" But what I wrote was barely worth the effort to respond to. And yet, here we are.
-
The response was so...plain. <p> Particularly since it didn't really add anything to your first post which had (amongst other things) a legitimate criticism about Hatred and Sphinx bogging down the series. <p> But perhaps that second response itself, as boring as I perceive it, truly stresses your dissapointment and unenthusiastic reception to season 4. <p> Really, at this point, I think I'm just looking for an excuse not to work.
-
*disappointment
-
Watching it, it really did seem like a "series finale" not a "season" one. They went back and revisited almost everyone and advanced or wrapped up their stories. Gathers was left with the OSI, Dean got a clue (well just one), Brock had his appocalyptic and tragic moments with Mol, 21 grew up and came into his own. In fact that was the whole theme of the episode, growing up and coming into ones own. It just felt like a closer. A good place to end it all. I hope they give us more. But this episode (and especially the "Venture Brothers Will Return" declaration at the end makes me fearful.
-
ive been googlin, wikipediain, twitterin, tryin to locate the lyrics, etc! anyone know the song? you think it would be in the credits... but anyway awesome episode! rusty venture sexmove, are you afraid of the dark shoutout, fly escorts, and brocks psychotics eyes wit that smile... AWESOME! but yea, please find the song for me!
-
Go to "Publick Nuisance," where Jackson Publick/Chris McCulloch has a 130+ comment thread about the episode. If I remember right, it's "Like a Friend" by Pulp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snouZdW2IWg
-
like a friend by pulp... now i will forever picture Brocks eyes and fly girls when listenin to it!
-
OMG! We could NOT stop laughing at the running 'Rusty Venture's name is a sex act' gag and that everybody had a theory on what it was... truly comedy gold.
-
I'd love to see a feature-length Venture Bros. in the theaters.
-
but I'm not betting it will happen. Season 5+++ damn skippy.
-
I've never laughed out loud as much as watching the finale. Wow.
-
Not only must they do a season 5,I want this show to air for years and years much like The Simpsons. Even a shitty episode of The Venture Bros. is better than the best of everything else...if there even IS a shitty episode. Maybe that one from the first season on the space station...but even that one has its moments.
-
Look her up. Scary and too old for Rusty... by about 5 years by my estimate. And Fun Boy Three's version IS more depressing, but deeper.
-
It was fucking off the hook. ok, i agree with dean triana was being a complete bitch. go to the prom as friends? Who the fuck does that. and then talk about the boyfriene the whole night?! Dean needs to man up, hank is already there, believe it or not. lol. I would like to see. Also where was jonas venture jr? Also why is movtolov with the big douche? Why didnt she be with brock when she had the chance fucking cocktease. all that waiting and fighting for nothing. She reminds me of the chicks in real life! lol. like you and marry someone else. Fuck that shit. lol. the ending was epic! im praying this gets renewed and they need to make the season longer, stop cutting it in half shit. PS. The triad guys should definitely get their own spinoff!!!
-
as script doctors...only team i know that makes continuity a priority
-
Agreed...it really DID seem like a "series finale." They wrapped up a LOT of stuff and, frankly, if that WAS the series finale, I'd consider it a fairly satisfactory one. I REALLY REALLY hope it's not though! <p> However, there are still plenty of threads we can still follow; 21 switching from villain to hero, Dean becoming a supervillain (a definite possibility), finding out more about Jonas Venture's death, Brock re-joining the team...and even though I know this probably won't happen, given that the creators have said that the show is "all about failure," I'd like to see Rusty truly fulfill his promise at least once in the end...
-
And who killed Doctor Venture. And the mother's identity (ther are hints, but there were hints at Dermot's parents too). Yet, they have made a satisfying conclusion. You see, you don't have to answer all the question, to not fuck up a finale. (Although I hope they'll continue.)
-
I just know, Dean's going to have to earn his cajones against that dude somehow.<P>"That's right. The new Hank cusses."
-
Thank You. I have been trying to express this opinion to people who say they enjoyed the Lost finale (I still believe they are in denial). It's not about questions answered, it's about a proper fucking ending. This 4th season finale was proper and could easily serve as a series finale (although I hope it doesn't). The Lost ending was just a whimper.
-
I want to spend more time with these characters. I thought the finale was amazing and tied up most of the loose ends this year. As for Season 5, they have a lot of stories to tell like Hunter dissolving SPHINX into OSI, Jonah in space, Phantom Limb, Hank and 24 joining OSI as well as Dean/Triana/Cripple Twilight kid. I hope Adult Swim gets them back if not there is no reason to watch this network.
-
....not really "getting" what the show is about, I take it.
-
He's a lame character, and I find myself bored whenever he's on screen. Otherwise this is an awesome show. One of the only things I even care to watch on television anymore (with the exception of Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and cable news).

Now his letters spell VD.
