From GAME OF THRONES!!
“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” star Lena Headey will play the duplicitous Cersei Lannister, twin sister of Jaime Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Virtuality”), with whom she indulges an incestuous relationship that spans decades. Along the way she marries the hard-drinking King Robert Baratheon, played by Mark Addy (“Still Standing”).
Also cast in the project are Sean Bean (“Crusoe”) as Ned Stark, Kit Harrington as Jon Snow, Jack Gleeson (“Batman Begins”) as Joffrey Baratheon, Harry Lloyd (“Robin Hood”) as Viserys Targaryen, Jennifer Ehle (“Possession”) as Catelyn Stark, Iain Glen ("Resident Evil: Extinction") as Ser Jorah Mormont, Tamzin Merchant (2005's "Pride and Prejudice") as Daenerys, Richard Madden (the BBC's "Hope Springs") as Robb Stark, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark and Alfie Allen ("The Other Boleyn Girl") as Theon.
“The Visitor” director Tom McCarthy is reuniting with his “Station Agent” star, Peter Dinklage (who plays Tyrion Lannister), for the project. Screenwriter David Benioff ("The 25th Hour," "Troy," "Stay," "The Kite Runner," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine") is scripting.

Its mostly a medieval setting with traces of magic and monsters, that's mostly forgotten. As the books continue, magic and the associated creatures start to reappear.

Lena Headey was in Waterland. I had no idea who she was but, at 14 years old, she was the hottest thing I have ever seen... The amazing thing is she is still sex on legs to this day.

I should clarify that I was the 14 years old... Headey would have been about 20 at the time. Regardless - HAWT.

Especially A Feast For Crows. Even with a ten episode season they will have to leave a lot out. The subplots featuring the Martells and the Greyjoys would take a lot of screentime away from the focal characters. And really, they would have to combine the events of books 4 & 5 to keep all the principle actors active in the series.

She filmed the pilot, but she left for the series. her part is played by Michelle Fairley for the series

These books are the size of bricks and can be overly descriptive, but who gives 2 monkeys when the main characters are superb. Even the devious and evil bastards are so well written, you will root for them until the end. IMHO I did not think "The Wire" could be toppled, but if HBO hit the mark then GOT will own 2011. Plus, Aiden Gillen aka Mayor Tommy Carcetti plays Littlefinger - it's all in the game!

will be whether they can tastefully film the scenes with pre-teen Daenrys getting drilled by the giant savage tribal lord and lezzing out with her handmaid. Well, that and the incest stuff.

That's exactly what they plan on doing. They will mix books 4 and 5(assuming it gets published by then)when the time comes to do so. They are also adding additional scenes into the series not in the books, which I think is a good idea since it gives the book fans something fresh to look forward to. It's also understood that if the series finishes faster than Martin's books the producers have permission to go their own way, so to speak. Hopefully it won't come to that.

I think she was 16 if I remember correctly. But according to the books, the girls were eligible for marriage as soon as they "bloomed" ie started menstruating.

I envisioned some CGI biggening there. Or is that just supposed to be a direwolf cub? I never pictured Robert being THAT over the hill. Maybe a gut, but still a total badass. Isn't Tyrion supposed to have kind of a spooky looking face w/ 2 different colored eyes so that, on top of being a dwarf, he's even MORE of an underdog? Now he's just Dinklidge w/ died hair.

I'm a little surprised at how little Dinklidge is made up, too. He's supposed to have a really prominent forehead according to the books. Maybe they're saving the makeup budget on him for the end of season 2....? Have I said too much? ;)<P>Robert is about what I pictured him. I always saw him as letting himself go once he became King after the Trident.

Is the whole series going to be called Game of Thrones, or will they call it Clash of Kings next season and so on. In some regards it would work, but it'd get a little complicated once season four and five roll around.

If I remember right. They plan on aging her and all the Stark kids a bit for the HBO series, but I don't know by how much.

adult/controversial and to gain a larger net audience, I might not watch this series. I mean cmon, it's HBO! If they aren't willing to show nudity, gore, and taboo subject matter when called for, they're not HBO, they're TV.

It looks like from the photo's that all the kids have been aged a bit. I'll put the real ages in brackets. Bran looks about 10 (he's 7), Jon Snow -19-20. (14), Dany - 19 (13), Joffrey is played by the kid in Batman Begins who Rachel protects towards the end - he's about 10 in that so will be about 15 now (12). So I expect Sansa (11), Aria (9) Robb (14) and Rickon (3) to be aged accordingly. There are a fair number of prominent kids and they will have to be able to act convincingly so ageing them all by a few years would be a sensible thing to do.

1. Addy is too fat and too short to be Robert. Granted Robert is supposed to have fattened up a good amount since winning the throne, but my god, Addy looks like he's never worked out a day in his life! He looks more silly in his armor than Merry and Pippin did in LOTR which is no easy task! 2. Daenerys outfit in the picture somehow pulls of looking a little too designery while being almost laughably rugged. It's Chic meets Tarzan and not in a good way. That said, all of that would have been forgiven had they just dyed her goddamn eyebrows blond! 3. I keep on hearing that the Direwolves are going to be the size of normal wolves. Not sure if this is true, but if it indeed is, would piss me off to no end. HBO: Use incredibly cheap, incredibly shoddy special effects, I really don't care, as long as you keep the Direwolves, Direwolves, and don't demote them to mere wolves! And sorry for the rambling guys, I'm kinda half baked right now and have gone from excited to more than a little worried in regards to this show.

The Direwolf pups are the size of normal wolves. So I expect the actual Direwolves to be much bigger. The pups can rip a man's throat out. So if the pups look like wolves then that's fine by me. I don't mind the eyebrows on Dany being dark. White eyebrows always look ridiculous. If they are pencil thin and dark it just enhances her beauty IMHO. Addy is a fine actor. He's done other things besides comedy. He's actually not that short either. It remains to be seen how he is portrayed. I'd I have one fear myself it is the kids - but I am happy they have aged them all a bit. Despite all the political shennanigans the kids have to carry a lot of it - and you don't want wooden kid acting amidst the treachery and betrayal of the courtiers. I'm sure it will be fine.

There is a pic of Sansa walking w/ a regular sized wolf. The caption says it is a direwolf. It's barely mid-thigh on her. It isn't w/ the online pics. I think there's a glitch or something because when you scroll through, it says there should be one more that doesn't come up at the end.

Eddard stood with on the Trident. Eddard hardly recognizes him when he visits Winterfell. But Addy is still wrong for the part. Robert needs to be far handsomer and lustier than Addy. A lot of the casting gives me pause, quite frankly. And the way they made Dany, Jon Snow and Tyrion look is awful. Oh well. No one asked me first.

The pic w/ the wolf is in the magazine but doesn't come up w/ the ones online. If you've seen a wolf before, you know what to expect. Fingers crossed that they will eventually grow much bigger . . .

The books are brilliant. If you haven't read them go and buy them in the store or on your kindle. I blew through the first three and I don't even like fantasy books! Storm of Swords (the third book) is a doozy!!! This series will be Lord of the Rings meets the Sopranos meets the Wire. Watch the spoilers on here folks! The plot twists in the books are fun as hell.

Yeah, I think the fact that Lady's but a pup at that point makes it okay that she's regular wolf sized. It's the other ones that better get really big!

at least I hope he is. (spoilers) I love how in the books the pets (Direwolves and Dragons) are treated as characters in and of themselves. We'll see how well that translates to TV. Effects wise they have to nail the Dragons.

He directed the pilot but the pilot has been pretty much totally reshot by HBO go-to director Tim Van Patten, so not much of McCarthy's stuff will be left.
