I am – Hercules!!
Comedy Central’s “TV Funhouse” was my pick for the funniest half-hour series of the ‘00s, and Deadline Hollywood says “Funhouse” mastermind Robert Smigel is getting back into the half-hour business.
The former SNL and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” writer, who also provides the voice and thoughts of Triumph The Insult Comic Dog, is apparently close to a deal for a sitcom pilot starring fellow SNL vet Rob Riggle.
The sitcom follows a former Big Man On Campus who goes to work for the nerd he mocked in high school.
Smigel and Riggle have both written Adam Sandler movies: Smigel had a hand in “Don’t Mess With The Zohan” and did uncredited work on a number of Sandler’s other movies, and Riggle scripted the upcoming “Jack & Jill.”
