Check Out D23's Cool New Web Series That Explores The Disney Archives!!

Merrick here...
Ever heard of D23? Oddly, many people haven't - but it's "the official Disney fan club" and it publishes a mighty fancy over-sized magazine from time to time. I sometimes stumble across copies at my neighborhood Barnes & Noble - very, very nice. If you ever get a chance to glance through an issue, check it out. There are evidently other benefits to being a member - exclusive discounts, offerings, etc. I've looked into joining D23 myself on a few occasions, but have never quite had the budget to do it (a higher-level membership costs about $75). I mention all of this not by way of crass advertisement, but to contextualize the material referenced below. Overall, D23's a pretty cool set-up for Disney enthusiasts - and is often up to some really interesting things. For example... They've got a new weekly web production I thought you guys might find interesting. It's called ARMCHAIR ARCHIVISTS and it's pretty much two guys plunging into a different and fascinating elements of Disney history on a weekly basis (like Walt Disney's offices, a clip that is among the last footage captured of Walt Disney, drawings made by Disney when he was around 17 years old, etc.) Fascinating. I dug around on The Net a bit and found this brief reference to the Archivist project over on D23's site by Steven Clark, "head" of D23.
"We're opening up the Walt Disney Archives to the world," Steven said. "As we were going through the Archives, we uncovered a lot of content that has never before been shared." Two avid Disney fans, Steve Czarnecki and Josh Turchetta, will host the show. They'll tour the Archives, Disney warehouses and even collectors' homes to uncover Disney treasures. "It gives us the chance to reflect and look back at all the treasures we have," Steven added. "And in addition to all the classic items, we'll be introducing new assets as well — including set pieces and costumes like those we recently received from the TRON: Legacy production team."

...but it's also available over at D23 (HERE), where the second installment (featuring Walt Disney's offices) has also gone online. Note that the series will soon (and not surprisingly) be featuring TRON LEGACY. Keep an eye out for that one, I'd imagine it could be pretty cool.
