BLADE/HELLBOY Director Del Toro & BSG’s Eick To Oversee ABC’s New HULK Series??

I am – Hercules!! Big-screen writer-director Guillermo Del Toro and TV producer David Eick will produce ABC’s new Hulk series, according to Deadline Hollywood. According to Deadline, both men are now outlining the pilot script and the new Hulk won’t be as purely CGI as he was in the two big-screen Hulk efforts. Marvel and ABC will likely try to launch the series in autumn 2012, following the summer 2012 release of Joss Whedon’s big-screen “Avengers” movie, in which Mark Ruffalo plays super-scientist David Banner and his massive green alter-ego. If the project goes to series, it will be Del Toro’s first TV effort. No word on whether or not Banner will be on the run, as he was in CBS' “Fugitive”-like Bill Bixby-Lou Ferrigno “Incredible Hulk” that ran 1978 to 1982. Del Toro, whose big-screen credits include adapting Marvel Comics' Blade and Dark Horse Comics' Hellboy into “Blade II,” “Hellboy,” and “Hellboy II,” may also direct the “Hulk” pilot. His other big-screen credits include “Cronos,” “Mimic,” “The Devil’s Backbone” and “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Eick’s showrunning experience includes a stint on NBC’s short-lived “Bionic Woman” remake. As producer, his credits include the 21st century version of “Battlestar Galactica” as well as “Bionic Woman,” “The Philanthropist,” “Caprica” and Syfy’s backdoor pilot “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome.” Find all of Deadline’s story on the matter here.
